Yes Kurapika probably doesn't care about living until 60 or 80+ years but the thing is he doesn't know when he is going to die, escpecially when he is "engaged in multiple deathmatches" as you said. He might die tomorrow. And if so, using Emperor Time shortens his lifespan even more. And I think one the thing Kurapika is most afraid of, if not the only thing he fears, is to die without having retrieved all the scarlet eyes. Hope I make sense
Uvo witnessing Kurapikas BROKEN genetic powers and the crazy conditions he put on his chains, but then STILL just saying "Die, fool." and laughing at him tells me that Uvo is well aware that he is not even close to the strongest in the Troupe. Physically he's the strongest, sure, but overall combat power, speed, Nen, etc. it seems that Uvo is confident Kurapika can't beat the Troupe. So I think some people in the Troupe will be ridiculous powerhouses, making Uvo look weak.
Sure, in a proper match he won't survive many of them. But Kurapika's goal is not to "beat" the troupe fair and square. He just wants them dead by his own hands. All he need is half a second distraction to chain one up and assassinate the member while immobile. Even a high alert Chrollo got captured, I would assume anyone of troupe would, including the rusty Feitan. Their abilities, combat power, speed doesn't matter. If he prep enough he can eliminate everyone. Maybe not at the same time, and not while they're together. But at one point, when they get careless.
@@pasta8026 You missed my point. My point is that Uvo is confident that EVEN WITH ALL THAT some Troupe members are so strong and thorough that Kurapikas tactics won't work. That's what I get from Uvos confidence.

I said Uvo trusts that Kurapika will die no matter what to his comrades. I never said he will die to ANY of them. But that Uvo knows there's some there who are MUUUUUUCH stronger than him, and those ones are the ones Kurapika can't beat in Uvos opinion. Got it now? I wish people like you would learn basic reading comprehension so you could stop writing pointless replies because you didn't understand what I said lmao.
Okay so i'm sure some folks have already explained this but to try to provide a spoiler-lite example of how kurapika's red eyes influence his nen: So what he said in the episode was right, that he is naturally a conjurer and that that helps him create his chains, but as his teacher pointed out, the chains can't be unbreakable. Then, his red eyes "activate" and they test again to learn that he has "100" in every nen catagory. So, while this is a huge leg up that just having some special eyes can get you, it's important to remember that a high number in that scale is not exactly a power level, but rather an aptitude for that type of nen. So Kurapika has, instead, the ability to apply every kind of nen strength to his emperor time ability. (just my imho, but i also read this as being so powerful cause the eyes detect intense emotion, and poor kurapika is just so intense that it shoots the meter all the way to the top.) This is interesting for later cause we will see how much not having a nen ability that matches into your aptitude will trip some people up, and how much forming a nen power is about basically maximizing the build you start with. Kurapika is super smart, so of course when he is given all the options, he really shines. I'll also point at that the idea of making "wagers" for maximizing a nen ability can play out in really cool ways, and there's a lot of stuff the show still has to say about where this can go. Kurapika has a lot of things that go into emperor time that we still don't know about, but work to explain it's crazy "OP" status, but I think you guys already touched on the fact that kurapika is just one, very, very specific weapon, and it is to be something that will only defeat spiders, which is a pretty damn narrow condition, considering the whole world. Hopefully this helps someone, and it's really fun to see you all enjoy this show so much! i just started watching but i already can't wait for you all to get to some of the later parts !!!
About kurapika's broken arm, why he can get that injured even though he's strong. You would found out about that in the next arc, greed island arc. Nen is kinda complicated but togashi is good at explaining it. And i'm sorry my english isn't good but i hope you guys can understand
poor kurapika so idk tragic... wish you guys continue to read the manga after the show just to truly know his past and how much kurapika is willing to sacrifice of himself just to reclaim his brethren
His specialist power is still out of 5 other category. It doesn't enhance, emit, manipulate, transmute or conjure. The hatsu was called emperor time, during those time the actual technique was just be 100% absolute to every category. He checkmate the rules.
18:35 The way I see is that Hisoka is a true member of the phantom troupe, but he is tricky enough to make the fake skin when tattooing himself because he doesn't always want to be a "recognized" member of the phantom troupe, to be able to do as he pleases in his "personal life and fulfil his craziness as he wishes" hahhahah :D
It's curious that in the recent arc of the manga very in the beginning we are explained that Nen users capable of sustain even a single gunshot is considered a high skilled one, and one that can sustain multiple gunshots is a rare one. That puts the likes of Kurapika with his Chains and Uvogin just using his Ten shroud like freaks one nature.
Remember, Kurapika asked Hisoka when they met, if Hisoka was already part of the troupe when the troupe killed his clan. So Kurapika will know if he can use his specific skill to Hisoka or not. He also asked Uvo before they start their fight. If Uvo was part of the troupe when they killed the Kurta clan.
Episode 47 is one of the best episodes in HxH but the fact that there are episodes better than it shows how good this anime is. This anime is just a different type of Shonen.
Some things to clarify -Only chain jail (middle finger) is the one with the condition of only being able to use it on members of the troupe, kurapika can use the other fingers as he wishes - Brig was right , him being a specialist is unrelated to the covenant
@@edgeelric4245 Not really, the covenant is him being able to use emperor time while having scarlet eyes, and it just happens that he is an specialist as well when he has scarlet eyes, of course he's able to use emperor time because he is an specialist (meaning that type of hatsu it's probably only possible for specialists), but being an specialist is not part of the covenant itself.
@aguerra5 but all nen users can be trained to use all 5 normal nens. What makes kurapika a specialist is the 100% efficiency, which is caused by emperor time. What part of what i said was wrong
@@edgeelric4245 I personally think it's more that Emperor Time is sort of an innate ability that at least partially developed automatically from his personality and biology (Specialist abilities often come from weird sources) that just works that way because he is who he is, while traditionally a covenant is something that's made very deliberately. Though the very specific way Emperor Time was developed is I think talked about less even in the manga than other abilities he has, so while I don't think I'm misunderstanding it, I definitely admit that it's possible I'm off-base
For anyone wondering why Kurapika's Emperor Time seems so op, in the manga there's the explanation of its drawback that the anime doesn't mention. How does emperor time work: While active Emperor Time allows kurapika to wield all nen categories to 100%, kurapika doesn't get buffed on those category, he simply use nen for each of them at 100% efficiency. Drawback (don't read further if you don't want manga spoiler) I I I I I I I I I I I I I V For every second that Emperor Time is active, Kurapika lose 1 hour of lifespan. The second drawback is that using this power for too much time continuously cause him fever that is stronger in intensity based on the amount of time spent in Emperor Time.
Yeah bro I'm not convinced. This drawback is way too little for the power he gains. Let's say he fights for maybe 15 mins and uses the power for 5 mins. He only loses 5 days of his life. Bro that's nothing if u ask me
@@tristan7720 Where did 5 days come from? It's 12,5 days. And it's still not an autowin ability against non troupe members (not even against all the members of the phantom troupe)
Btw Kurapika said " I spent too much time in that state " .. is another hint to why his hatsu is so powerful with all the other crazy restrictions and conditions .. which is why I Love Nen so much . Also Kurapika's teacher said Break the rule and you may Lose your "Nen" is another hint to a very big thing that happens later .. Honesty just pay attention to details in this show they are crazy important 😂
My favorite nen ability ever is called “the cat that lived 10000 lives” (don’t worry it’s manga only so no spoilers). Basically, you have to use zetsu at all times. But if someone kills you, a giant cat appears, kills whoever killed you, and then brings you back to life. Absolutely unhinged
Im gonna say it here. This scene is soooo much had darker vibes in HxH 1999 version. I fall in love with Kurapika in this episode and all his interaction with Kumo afterwards.
@@areeba7045 Kumo = spider = The gang who murder Kurapika's clan and the one who has Chrollo as its leader who later well known with his "requiem attack"
Since it'll be god knows how long til the anime catches up, yes emperor time is op because . . . . . Every second Kurapika spends in emperor time he loses 1 hour of his lifespan. So if he spends 30 seconds in ET, he dies a day and 6 hours earlier
Also most people get confused that specialist doesn't automatically makes you able to be 100% at everything. Specialist just means a nen power that doesn't fit into any of the others (or if you're a combo of more than one).
I think the biggest lesson with Nen is that the possibilities for abilities are many depending on each individual, but each ability comes with sacrifice - the more powerful, the harsher the sacrifice. Even removing the covenant, that still stands for obvious reasons (more, harsher training gives better results). The other lesson is that Nen is also an expression of your being at the most elemental level. It is connected to what mother nature gave you. So Kurapika's abilities are both an expression of his potential as a driven individual who works his ass off and makes huge sacrifices to get the results he wants (the covenant) and also an expression of his very nature (being a Kurta). Like in the real world, there's natural talent and there's skills. Natural talent without honing is wasted. Skills without natural talent can perhaps be achieved, but maybe not as well as someone with a natural talent for them working on those same skills. Kurapika is naturally a Conjurer whose genetics also make him into a Specialist, but the way his abilities work are on him, on his objectives and his training. (also remember that during the Nen categories' explanation, Conjurer was one of the categories closest to the Specialist one, which means that if anybody can turn into a Specialist, it's someone likely belonging to the two catefories closest, so Conjurers and Manipulators) To better understand this, look at Gon, Killua and Zushi. They're all incredibly naturally talented individuals, but Gon and Killua are better equipped than Zushi both because of their genes and because of the lives they've lived until that point. Some people just have an advantage over others for various reasons. As for a comparison between Gon and Killua, Gon is an enhancer, so strenght is pretty much his thing, however Killua, despite being a Transmuter, is hella strong physically, at this point in time surpassing Gon, because of the traiming he's endured since childhood. Kurapika's abilities are very powerful, but the more y'all will learn about this world, you'll see that it's actually very balanced, as in not actually as OP as it may seem, it just makes sense for it to be the way it is in this universe. What makes this story's power scaling so good is the fact that limitations can actually make you MORE powerful, instead of less - it just depends how you use them.
To amswer your guys' question at the end: Emperor time is an ability where as long as his eyes are red,he becomes a specialist with the ability to have 100% in every category. This is an ability, not something he was born with.
Although they do portray his abilities as only tailored to the troupe its actually only his chain jail, not all his chain abilities, and his most broken ability by far is his emperors time so he is actually insanely strong outside of hunting the troupe itself, although he obviously needs a lot more experience to fully utilize the mastery potential.
Not necessarily. His 100% of enhancement is the same as like 20% percent of uvo's enhancement. So basically his 100% is not the same as someone else's 100%
@@kc_h7h That's definitely true, but it still gives him pretty insane flexibility compared to most Nen users, and flexibility is often the difference between life and death. It's not as OP as it first sounds, but it's still pretty wild
@@kc_h7hEven so (and I don’t even fully buy this explanation. I know this is in the manga, but Uvogin himself said Kurapika seemed to have the defensive ability of a natural Enhancer), Emperor Time is definitely a wildly useful and unique ability.
@@blackprotagonist because he does have the same defence as a natural enhancer. That doesn't mean it's as good as a master like him. Like for example gon in this arc is a enhancer right. i mean hes basically sacrificing his later life to gain power in his early life thats quite a sacrifice especially if he overuses the ability
@@Man-O-Little-Tan yeah makes sense
@@blackprotagonist I think losing an hour of lifespan every second is pretty bad honestly. Sure it won't be that much of a drawback if he uses it carefully but that's why he tries not to use it that much.
24:07 The "I'll never see my son" nen condition is actually a brilliant idea😂
I literally burst out laughing when he said it. "As long as I never see my son, I'll be the strongest." That was so hilarious.😂
that was hilarious😂..i haven't finished hxh yet (binging it for the first time as well) and im starting to think that
I can imagine Ging would actually do that. He be like gotta avoid child support 😂
Uvo witnessing Kurapikas BROKEN genetic powers and the crazy conditions he put on his chains,
but then STILL just saying "Die, fool." and laughing at him tells me that Uvo is well aware that he is not even close to the strongest in the Troupe.
@@pasta8026
You missed my point.
My point is that Uvo is confident that EVEN WITH ALL THAT some Troupe members are so strong and thorough that Kurapikas tactics won't work.
That's what I get from Uvos confidence.
@@ardynizunia9709 Nah. Half of them gets killed within a month if not for the fortune telling ability Chrollo stole. Imagine 2 months. 6 months.

FIrst off, why tf do you feel the need to spoil without putting a spoiler warning first for the people in the comment section that are watching along with the guys and the guys themselves?
Seriously, dick move, do better.
Secondly, so what? Did I say ALL OF THEM are above Uvo? No.
The half that would have died are obviously the weaker ones.
@@ardynizunia9709 You are crazy just because uvo laughed at kurapika HAHAHAHAHA making things is so funny HAHAHAHA
Okay so i'm sure some folks have already explained this but to try to provide a spoiler-lite example of how kurapika's red eyes influence his nen:
So what he said in the episode was right, that he is naturally a conjurer and that that helps him create his chains, but as his teacher pointed out, the chains can't be unbreakable. (just my imho, but i also read this as being so powerful cause the eyes detect intense emotion, and poor kurapika is just so intense that it shoots the meter all the way to the top.)
This is interesting for later cause we will see how much not having a nen ability that matches into your aptitude will trip some people up, and how much forming a nen power is about basically maximizing the build you start with.
I was literally fangirling over the scene where kurapika kills uvo the first time I watched hunter ex hunter
17:05 Yeah! 🤣🤣👍
About kurapika's broken arm, why he can get that injured even though he's strong. You would found out about that in the next arc, greed island arc. Nen is kinda complicated but togashi is good at explaining it. And i'm sorry my english isn't good but i hope you guys can understand
I love every times they asking something and they will have the answer in future episodes
Way to predict Ging's covenant which is why he's so strong, the power of buying milk and cigarettes
There is still more to Kurapika's power. All will make sense in time.
kurapika so savage he brought a shovel to a fight
poor kurapika so idk tragic... wish you guys continue to read the manga after the show just to truly know his past and how much kurapika is willing to sacrifice of himself just to reclaim his brethren
So glad y’all got to see one of my favorite anime moments of all time
Kurapika is the G.O.AT I cant wait to see how far his journey goes in the manga
His specialist power is still out of 5 other category. It doesn't enhance, emit, manipulate, transmute or conjure. The hatsu was called emperor time, during those time the actual technique was just be 100% absolute to every category. He checkmate the rules.
The most disrespectful moment in anime history
One of the best fight in HXH history.
BACK TO BACK uploads let's GOOOOOOOO

As much as I LOVE the idea kurapika brought the shovel, I think we forget he can literally j make one
He can’t though. That’s not how conjuration works.
@@blackprotagonist Yes! People forget the restrictions
One of the best fight in HxH!
I rewatched this, so many times
“That was like David and Goliath” bro that was so tuff
It's curious that in the recent arc of the manga very in the beginning we are explained that Nen users capable of sustain even a single gunshot is considered a high skilled one, and one that can sustain multiple gunshots is a rare one.
That puts the likes of Kurapika with his Chains and Uvogin just using his Ten shroud like freaks one nature.
“I wanna know what the most powerful Nen ability is” while the Boss’s figure is right there.
You think Chrollo's ability is the most powerful?
@@blackprotagonist I certainly think it has the most potential power of any ability we’ve seen. Not in a straight-up fight perhaps but overall.
@@LetheSoda Have you caught up with the manga? 👀
Some things to clarify
-Only chain jail (middle finger) is the one with the condition of only being able to use it on members of the troupe, kurapika can use the other fingers as he wishes
- Brig was right , him being a specialist is unrelated to the covenant
Isn't him being a specialist a covenant, just not the same as the troupe covenant? Like Emperor time reads like a covenant to me.
@@edgeelric4245 the fact that being a specialist itself it's not part of the covenant.
For anyone wondering why Kurapika's Emperor Time seems so op, in the manga there's the explanation of its drawback that the anime doesn't mention.
How does emperor time work:
While active Emperor Time allows kurapika to wield all nen categories to 100%, kurapika doesn't get buffed on those category, he simply use nen for each of them at 100% efficiency.

For every second that Emperor Time is active, Kurapika lose 1 hour of lifespan. The second drawback is that using this power for too much time continuously cause him fever that is stronger in intensity based on the amount of time spent in Emperor Time.
Oh my god that's insane!!
Might be a reference to Togashi staying up late ruining his back drawing YYK and HxH
@@adius256 ...Damn, I never even thought of that. That might legit be some of the inspiration, that's wild.
"Bro brought a shovel to the fight" XD hahaha 17:02
You guys should do like an online personality quiz to see what nen type you guys have! I got conjurer and my brother got specialist.

I have been waiting for ur reactions to this episode since the start of the anime, defenitly one of the best
Letting it ring instead of declining
Kurapika is diffrent 😭
My favorite nen ability ever is called “the cat that lived 10000 lives” (don’t worry it’s manga only so no spoilers). Basically, you have to use zetsu at all times. But if someone kills you, a giant cat appears, kills whoever killed you, and then brings you back to life. Absolutely unhinged
Im gonna say it here. This scene is soooo much had darker vibes in HxH 1999 version. I fall in love with Kurapika in this episode and all his interaction with Kumo afterwards.

who the hell is kumo
@@areeba7045 Kumo = spider = The gang who murder Kurapika's clan and the one who has Chrollo as its leader who later well known with his "requiem attack"

Stoked you finally saw this episode!
Peak x Peak fr 🔥
Also most people get confused that specialist doesn't automatically makes you able to be 100% at everything. Specialist just means a nen power that doesn't fit into any of the others (or if you're a combo of more than one).
One of my favorite Hunter x Hunter episodes. Peak x Peak fr
(also remember that during the Nen categories' explanation, Conjurer was one of the categories closest to the Specialist one, which means that if anybody can turn into a Specialist, it's someone likely belonging to the two catefories closest, so Conjurers and Manipulators)
To better understand this, look at Gon, Killua and Zushi.
“This feels like thanos dropping into Fortnite” is hilarious
To amswer your guys' question at the end: Emperor time is an ability where as long as his eyes are red,he becomes a specialist with the ability to have 100% in every category. This is an ability, not something he was born with.
Kurapika best character. Not the strongest out there but his story is 🔥

Kurapika is the most OP rn
yooooo not seeing his son being Gings covenant is HILARIOUS lmaoooo
But he's nowhere near the same capacity as uvo, does that mean he's not a natural enhancer according to your logic? For all we know he has about the same enhancer capacity as kurapika on et.

Even without nen Uvo took several nen punches which in heavens arena we saw that usually results in immediate and serious damage. The chad stood there and took several EMPEROR TIME NEN blows white forced zetsu was on him and stayed in one piece
Nen is all about the mind and spirit, there is no "Nen entity" that regulates conditions. So as long as Kurapika truly believes that Hisoka is part of the Phantom Troupe, the rule wouldn't be broken.
to put it simple without spoilers a speacialist is a special class it doesn't mean that every specialist can master at 100% all the other nen categories, kurapika can do that because that the core of the power he develope while been a specialist more info about emperor time will incur on spoiler that are not even animated
