Some fine large pototoes! What fertilizer and measurements do you use?
I love that you’re training future gardeners and getting the young ones involved, great to see 🧡
It warms my heart to see a variety of people from various backgrounds and religions here not commenting negatively. This goes to show the affect our brother Monti with his wicked Strong Northern accent is having on the peeps.
Lol is it that strong? 😂😂😂
Our actions are the best dawah
Agreed. I am as white as the driven snow and born and bred here. But my even my accent isn't as northern as that. Keep the videos up mate, I really enjoy watching young children (and adults) enjoy the garden and i enjoy learning from you too. Happy days!
I thought the comments would be turned off. But I’m as pleased as you are that bigots didn’t storm him. Keep growing brothers and sisters.
I came to see when to harvest my potatoes, I don't understand what faith or background has to do with it. If people want to equate their issues over certain faiths they should leave veg out of it. Just saying...
Would you say the same thing to a Christian?? I wonder 🤔
My kid put a potato in the ground to see what would happen. It developed flowers but isn’t dying back yet. I didn’t know you can grow them in a pot like that. I got so excited when you were uncovering the potatoes.
Sounds like a healthy plant, give it time. Potato harvests are like treasure hunts lol
How lovely ❤
LOOK at the little ones loving the digging with their little gloves.
So cute! ♥️
All races, all religions, one human race. I love our gardening community.
Shut up
…….i love potatoes
i jus like potatoes
New to your channel. I just planted my potatoes in 50lb rice/ dog food bags I used a paper puncher for holes at the bottom, as they grew I added more dirt. when I harvest them
i will reuse the dirt. They flowered 2 weeks ago I cant wait to see how they did!
love the channel
How did they do?
@MrAlistar99 Excellent! I also found out that IAMS dog food bags are food grade! So I've collected many all winter, and they are prepped to plant my first set. Each month, I will plant 4 bags. So my last harvest will be October. Last year, i got around 200 lbs of potatoes. In December, I intentionally let around 30 potatoes go crazy all set to plant these.
Happy planting 😊
Watching your videos make me wanna grow stuff
Nice, have you got anything growing at the moment
@@MyFamilyGarden I don't even know where to start so when I watch your videos I feel like you're doing it for me as well ha
Dont let the police catch u lol
Simple to follow cheers as I wasn't sure when to harvest
This was perfectly helpful for where my potatoes are at. You’ve helped my family make chips tonight!
Very informative! I have only 5 plants out in the garden, wanted to try my hand at potato this year. I really know so little and had no idea about the flowering and so forth. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Love the channel, from the Republic of Ireland 🇮🇪 👍
Thanks Mike, appreciated
Really helpful thank you brother, subscribed
Awesome thank you for the support, much appreciated
Me too! ☺
Thanks my friend. Exactly what I wanted to know. And wood chip sounds like a good idea for next time. Paul
lovely potatoes monty, nice video 🙂👍
Thanks Jackie
Beautiful and timely video!
I'm growing my first ever potatoes this summer in pots just like yours and was beginning to wonder how to know when to harvest.
Thank you, brother.
I'm a new subscriber here on July 25, 2021.
😎👍🏼
Great information, Monty. We have definitely been guilty of harvesting too early. This will help us to get larger tubers.
Take care and stay safe,
Rob
Thanks Rob, sometimes the small potatoes are perfect for roasting
Well done brother. May God give a good harvest every time.
This was very helpful, thank you. I love the way your incorporated the kids. Gardening is such a healthy activity for children.
That accent and the hints are great.
I started a garden this springvand planted potatoes and a wide variety of fruits and vegetables. I'm looking forward to hearing more gardening tips.
Thank you!! Just noticed mine had flowers and now know when to empty the container (rather big one) out for harvest.
✌️❤️💯
Very nice tutorial Monty, enjoyed watching and listening.
🌱 Happy Gardening my friend's, Terry King.
Thanks Terry, really appreciate it
Looks like I’m harvesting my grow bag today thanks bud
thank you, this video is a incredibly detailed and comprehensive guide!
Good morning Mothin. Great information and nice harvest. 👍👍Best wishes Bob.
Thanks Bob, it turned out ok considereing i used the poisoned mulch on it. Hope you're well
Thank you we are well and happy. I hope your back has calmed down.
Omg the baby in the background. ❤
This was straight to the point thank you !!! I learned a lot and really answers everything I needed to kw👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽💕💕
Thank you for your advice, I’m learning so I can plant some as well. Also, I love how you blessed your plant as you were ready to harvest.
Great tips, thank you. Your garden looks wonderful!
Many thanks MFG. Great advice well presented. Best wishes from the Belfast Castlereagh hills of Northern Ireland
Great to see your kids getting involved too. My kids love their gardening although my daughter is a bit too keen about harvesting the Strawberries as the rest of the family don't see many.
the kids just did their strawberry harvesting video
You sir are awesome at explaining things. Great video
Great info. I bet the kids loved the duck looking one.
It's great to see children involved in the gardening.
I love having them involved
So you basically just showed me i need a bigger garden😂😂🥰🥰🥰
Thank you for explaining what the plant appearance would be at the time of harvest. 😊
Thankyou for the clear and concise advise, im still waiting on mine to flower but will let them grow on a little. Cheers
Very informative, interesting and helpful. Best thing I've seen or read about the subject. I'll be taking your advice. Thank you.
Wow that was impressive I am going to try potatoes in buckets next spring...getting ready now to watch how you did it...it will be my first time! thanks for sharing! All the best from NY, USA!
They're quite good for getting nice clean potatoes without having to dig, good luck with it
👍👍👍, Nice potatoes Monty, Take care.
Thanks Ronald, they turned out better than i thought
You explained it way better then anyone else hands down!!!!!!! New sub you guys are the best and have the cutest family
Ohhh I've noticed if I bury my schools just a tad under the soil I have potatoes way sooner so if I have to harvest 2 weeks apart I plant my others a bit deeper that works for me .
Thanks for your good advice - appreciated
Great watching the little ones enjoying their gardening .
Been wondering why I had not seen you for awhile...then 'Ding!" I realized I had not set the Bell notifications. Funny about this vid-I was just researching when to pull potatoes. Had a surprise show up in one of my raised beds this year.
Thank you so much for this video. Awesome video and I definitely subscribed to your Chanel, will be watching more.
My potatoes will never go to the flowering stage because of the hot dry summer. They will also wilt and die. When their tops become all yellow, it is time to harvest them. :) And don't use wood chips to plant potatoes cause you need to hill the potato plants so that it can produce more tubers. I hill my potato plants using half composted tree leaves or freshly cut grass clippings. You don't need to import wood chips from outside. And you don't need to replant your potatoes in March. I left some potatoes unharvested. They always come back in early April here in Zone 8.
So good to see you share this experience with your kids. I’m growing in bags this year for the first time. There are some in the ground too. A freshly dug potato tastes great and has a wonderful texture.
I grow my main crop in woodchips. You're right the crisp sound that a a fresh potato makes when you cut it just can't be replicated with shop bought spuds
@@MyFamilyGarden I took up whittling recently and use a power planer. It makes for for fine, clean shavings. I like your two tier method. I may try that next year.
Thank you enjoyed this and many of your programs.
Really helpful. Thank you from a potato novice!
I like your yard! It's a real backyard that the whole family can enjoy. And I like your calm demeanor and way of explaining how you do things. Greetings from Ontario Canada!
Great information regarding harvesting tattie's! This is my first attempt growing them in black bin bags! Cheers mate!
Loved your instructional videos. Thank you. 👍🏽😊
This was so helpful thank you. My first year of growing veg.🙂
Love it. I've just got my hands on some very cheap 30L pots & intend to grow spuds this season using your method. Well almost... Shop bought multi-purpose compost minus the wood chips. I reckon I should do alright. Thanks for the video. Cheers 👍🏽
Good video, nice little harvest, those potatoes looked very tasty!
i'm quite happy with them considereing those are the ones i poisoned lol
Nice plate of chips 😁 love it 😎
I’m so excited. I planted potatoes in a tub on my balcony this year. And I can’t wait to see what we get.
Learnt a lot. Thanks☺️
Great Job! Keep doing more!
A great harvest, great video. Well done!
Thanks for visiting
you sir are a bad ass! cant beat sustainability
Thanks for this! So helpful🙏🏽
Much love bro!!!
That was very helpful. Thank you.
Cracking video. Thanks for the tips- my potatoes are growing exponentially! Thanks for sharing when best to harvest them. A little while yet! I’m getting keen to harvest…..will hold off. Cheers. Great videos.
Useful info and demo, thanks
I'm back in hospital but still entertained. Nice one monty

Is everything ok?
@@MyFamilyGarden I'm ok now. Was high temperature and unbelievable shivering fits. If I left the bed any higher I would have needed a parachute to land. Never knew shivering could make u airborne. Lol.

I'm glad you're on the mend, hope you're home soon
Great video and it’s encouraged me not to harvest too soon. Thanks for the upload
This was really helpful. Thank you. I usually plant potatoes in pots but its been a bit hit and miss if i harvest them correctly!! This year, as well as the buckets, i have made a veggie plot where i used to keep hens so am hoping for a bumper spud crop🤞. I see you use red potatoes. Do you have any preference for which variry you grow? And is that based on taste, storage etc? Also do you buy seed potatoes or do you save your own from your harvest? Sorry for all the questions, i just like your style of gardening😁. Also its great that you get your kids so involved. I love to see knowledge being passed through the generations.. happy growing!
Thanks for the advice mate! I'm growing some in containers, for the first time (in Regina, SK, Canada), and this was helpful.
Brilliant, glad it helped
Salaam! And thank you for the awesome vid. I just got into gardening this past year during the pandemic and this is a great way to learn
This is super helpful thank you!
You are a funny man and you know what u are doing well done fella
Not everyone gets my humour lol
@@MyFamilyGarden I certainly do
Loving these videos. Keep them up man, keeping me inspired to grow my own. Put in three raised beds for this season. Greenhouse planned for next year.
Good one.... Thank you for your time & effort.
Great info, nice harvest. Thank you for sharing
Thanks for watching
Wow those are beautiful.
I like how clean they are
Nice harvest!!!!
Good video and thanks
Very nice video. Thank you for explaining.
Very cool. Thank you!
Glad you liked it!
The potatoes look great!

This was incredibly satisfying, I'll be growing potatoes this spring for sure! Love your positive attitude, blessings sent to you.
Thanks James, I love a good potato reveal
Thank you so much. What beauties you harvested!
Thank you for the great information
I've harvested my potatoes and planted more Maris Piper at end of July that should be ready for Christmas. I'm just waiting on my Pinstripe Aubergine to finish growing so I can make some Aloo Baingan yum yum
Great video 😊
I do that with earlies, can sometimes get 3 crops in, in one year. Sounds delicious
Thankyou your comment has gave me hope as I too plan to plant them this week of July. Did u use peat free soil/ garden soil and did u use fish blood bone meal..
@@My_Secret_ArtSketchbook I got some small potatoes around November but nothing huge
Great tip with the woods chips
Helpful trick for potted spuds is to build a 24"x36" frame and take metal mesh (like chicken fence) and make a shaker to sift out the produce.
do you mean something like this ua-cam.com/video/AONbzF8ok4k/v-deo.html
Nice little harvest for the effort
Thanks, it turned out ok
Thank you for your video, very informative
A couple "Tiddlers". I've learned a new word! They are some of my favorite potato for stews and soups frankly. Tender. Thank you for sharing.
Great information love your garden plenty of growing going on thank you 😊 🙏🏻
Assalammulaikum....Sir.
Those Popatoes are lovely and fresh....Alhamdulillah.
I love to cook Chicken Curry with Potatoes....Delicious...😋
Thank you for sharing. Stay blessed to you and family.
Walaikum Salaam, that sounds delicious
Mee too..i like my potatoes in chicken curry especially the free range chicken.
Sometimes i make potatoes fritters dip in chilie sauce...yummy.
I think I'm the only one who fails with growing potatoes everytime.....so I make myself happy by watching these videos 😁I feel so much joy to see those potatoes being collected from the soil
Oh no sorry to hear that. How do you plant them?
I am here after failing the 1st time. I am planning to try again.
@@MyFamilyGarden I don't plant them whole,I cut them into chunks with the budded eye and sow them
@@ms.anonymousinformer242 🙌
@@homesci3596 maybe try chucking them in whole - I bet you’ll be victorious. I tried with my daughters world book day potatoe last year because I didn’t want to waste it and just to see if it worked in a small plant pot 😂 I then repotted it in to a biggun. We got a few, but picked them too early. Try again, because they’re super easy. I’m just going to wait next time until they’ve died off a bit to get bigger ones.
Thank you this video! I needed to know when my potatoes are ready 🤗🥔🥔🥔🥔
wishing you the best harvest
Brilliant - very helpful . . .
Sweet, I'm looking forward to my harvest.
Excellent... I'm in Tampa - St Pete, Florida and I've got three containers growing right now. Big top growth. I had a lot of fun showing my 7 Y.O. granddaughter how to grow potatoes. We'll see in a couple of months! Thank you for the video!
Very helpful! Thanks!!
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for the information.. I must say you seem to be the only video that actually tell us what we need to know..
Many thanks
