I climbed snowdon for a homeless charity in leeds,n Thank You for this video,it sure helped me,I did go up with a tour guide, but all your Advice was helpful,Thank You
I climbed Snowdon last Wednesday via this route, it was a wonderful experience and gave me a big confidence boost because I didn't know if I was fit enough to succeed. Hiking and mountain trekking are my favourite activities but it had been a while since summiting a proper mountain. I advise anyone to go for it😄👍
Good video and glad you enjoyed it, I'm a local mountain runner and just one tip about footwear, there are a lot of specialist mountain running shoes these days which are like approach shoes but tend to have better grip on a larger variety of terrain, whereas approach shoes tend to be designed more for just very rocky approaches, so comfort wise on dry summer days I always prefer a mountain running shoe, and they're a lot less likely to cause blisters for new hikers than big heavy boots.
Thanks for a lovely video. I’ve done it on the train but going to follow your lead and walk up. Glad you enjoyed it. Will plan to do it this month. Thanks again
I am planning on climbing end of may. I’m not the fittest of people and know I may struggle but this video has helped me feel confident about climbing this!
I recon I must have summited Yr Wyddfa over 30 times this year... I lost count, it could be 40. I never summit later than 9am, especially on a weekend, I hate the crowds. I've seen three sunrises, hail, snow, rain, hurricane force winds and glorious sunshine from the top. I've gone up via the Llanberis path, Ranger, Watkin, Miners, Pyg, Rhydd Ddu, Big Dipper and Crib Goch. I know the mountain quite well.
Nice vlog and Good advice. I did this way twice in 1980s (in my 20s) . Been on Train 3 times since and been 2/3 up Miners path way about 10yrs ago. Also been 1/3 up twice so walked up AND DOWN 3.3 times LLM
Nice video! I really love Snowdonia, last time I hiked by Miner's and Pyg route quite a bit challenge. But this time I`ll take this route make a bit easier.
*Swallow Falls is a water fall attraction just outside of Betws Y Coed ( Betus ur coid) in the direction of Pen Y Pass or CAERNARFON S1 on the bus route( at train station in Betws y Coed). It is not a hike route*
I am planning on walking this path to summit, someone who wants to come is scared of heights! Is there any parts where the path is smaller/narrower than what you show in the video and therefore being closer the edge of the mountain?
Awesome, hope you have a great hike! The most narrow section is towards the summit. However, it was very cloudy the day we went up so you couldn’t see too much which is good in a way (if someone is scared of heights) but you don’t get to see the whole view!
Thank you! Parking for the day cost £11 - the hike itself is free to do, so the other costs to consider would be transport, accomodation (if required) and food / drinks.
Find a sign which says 'To Snowdon' Follow the path to the top. How hard can it be? I walked the 'Horseshoe' clockwise from YLiwedd finishing over Crib Goch. Fairly exposed but easy. Bill
Hi nice video we are going to Wales in September and looking for accommodation. Which caravan site did you stay at and where is it in relation to the base of Snowden? Thanks in advance!!
Hi there! Thank you, I really appreciate it. We booked it via booking.com but I can't seem to find which caravan park it was, sorry about that but from memory it was about 45 minutes to 1 hour from the car park (www.google.com/maps/place/Parking+For+Snowdon/@53.1167562,-4.1212135,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m6!3m5!1s0x4865083a57c4434d:0xbb47ea0570424f89!8m2!3d53.1167562!4d-4.1190248!16s%2Fg%2F11csb2y6wz?entry=ttu) - Best to search on booking.com for the dates your looking for to see what is available :) Hope you have an awesome hike!!
hi there! yes, I think it would be as it is a fairly straightforward up and down route. However, I would let someone know the time you are leaving / meant to arrive back and the exact route you're taking. A backup communication device is also handy if you're solo. I was once caught in a rainstorm, my phone died and I had no other form of communication. Now I carry a GPS device (Garmin In-Reach mini 2) which allows me to send SMS / signal for help when there isn't phone signal or if my phone dies for whatever reason. I'd also recommend plenty of water, food and a small first aid kit. A rain jacket and layers towards the top will be handy. Hope you have a great hike and stay safe!
Absolute peice of piss. You could walk it backwards and blindfolded and still encounter no problems. Just you mind you don't trip on any of those rocks!
Wait… this was the easiest route😳 I did this route with a couple of friends couple weeks ago… was brilliant but didn’t think it was the easiest… if that’s the case what is the hardest route to do?
@@GeorgeSoan Oh sorry I was a bit rude with my comment. I thought you were talking like that as an internet meme for views. Ive just seen from another video you may actually speak like that. Sorry, it is my issue that this kind of speaking is sadly taking over the internet. I should have taken a moment to engage my brain before tapping on my keyboard.
*Snowdonia is an area within an AONB, so wild camping is not allowed or camper vans parking anywhere to camp overnight. There are many campsites to choose from. Garth Farm Campsite is in the valley between Betws Y Coed/ Capel Curig AND Pen Y Pass and is quite exposed to the elements, but popular and on the Caernarfon/Betws Y Coed S1 bus route. The bus takes about 20 minutes from Betws Y Coed OR 10 minutes from Pen Y Pass and is a request stop. That’s great to hear! No worries, happy hiking!! :)
Dont know when this was filmed, but the visitor centre and toilets are now open at the summit. 😊
Oh that’s amazing news! Thanks for letting me / others know :) By the way this was filmed in July
Couldn't see a thing at the summit due to being in the middle of a cloud but someone else asked the same question

I’ve done snowdon twice but not this path, thinking of doing it again in winter, so easier route might be best.
That makes sense. From what I’ve heard the gradient isn’t as steep compared to the other routes so it may be the best option in winter! Happy hiking!
Thanks for the perfect explanation, any idea about Swallow Falls hike?

Also have you got a link to where you stayed?

Is it 14 km’s each way or 14kms total? Great video 😎
Thank you! 14km in total :)
Any bits of water to swim in on way down?
Not sure on that as it was pretty cold when we went! 😅
How long did it take? Thank you
I can’t remember exactly, but somewhere around the 4-6 hour mark! Happy hiking!
How long did it take you?
This one took us quite a few hours! 4 or 5 from memory. The AllTrails link will also give the average time :)
