    Bro, you CAN timestretch once you chop the sample. You must assign your chopped sample to a whole group, NOT a pad. So when you make your chops and you hit “apply”, the pad will start flashing. Don’t hit it. Press the group button instead. Now each individual chop will appear as it’s own instance of the sampler module. Now you can time stretch each slice independently. Jeff gibbons taught me this, FYI.

      Yup this tactic was a game changer for me in using Maschine... The thing that still kills me though is why I can't get a time stretch/pitching experience from the sampler that I do with the AU. Seems like they have the tech to give that "serato sampler" like experience but for some reason you can only do loops or gate in the AU and you can't chop from it.

      you can also always use the audio processor instead of sampler. make sure you cut any tails from sample being used.

    If you slice/chop the sample, then assign the chops to an entirely new group, then each pad will be its own sample, which you can stretch as you wish.

    Great video! I agree with that you said about Kontakt Instruments. If I'm understanding correctly, I think the work around to time stretching after you've assigned a sample to a pad would be to change the plug in from the sampler to the audio module. It should time stretch it from there.

    Good video. About export, AIFF is a lossless Apple format, WAV is PC (but also readable by Macs). MP3 is a lossy format, therefore, inferior to AIFF and WAV. Keep up the good work.

  • @facethemusic7o2
    @facethemusic7o2 2 роки тому +9

    theres no MP3 export because going from Wave to MP3 actually lowers the quality. They would have to add Dithering to help with the conversion. I personally hate when i get a MP3 file cuz i know the file isn't a true representation of the music. During the conversion some of the high frequency stuff is rounded off making it not as bright. (Again getting into audio artefacts, Dithering, etc) Wanna test it? Take a Wave file, convert it and then compare the 2 sonically. The Wave will sound slightly brighter, less muddy. ALWAYS work in Wave format if given the choice as any mastering house/audio engineer would prefer the same. Yeah, the file size is smaller but u give up sonic quality. I will provide a MP3 file along with 24bit Wave to the client but NEVER just a MP3 and if given a MP3, i always ask for the Wave file. #reasongang #2cents #20yearsaudioengineering #producer #drummer

      Not one beat that I ever place was in a Wav format… Zero… it’s already been proven in blind test that most people can not Distinguish the difference between a 192k mp3 sample and a 44.1k wave file.. Also, I’ve literally seen artist skip over emails where people send wav files because it takes entirely too long to download all those wav files for you to check out a beat. Me personally if I cannot listen to that beat within my email, I’m not listening to it. Nobody that I know listens to wav beats. Now, if a artist likes a particular beat I will usually send over the stems in wav format so that it can be mixed in that format and for it to be mastered in that format. But most of the times a lot of these artists will stick with the two track mix that is MP3 quality. Don’t make it hard on yourself work smarter not harder. If it sounds good, it sounds good. I’ve heard plenty of beats and Wav format that sound like crap and I’ve heard a lot of MP3 format beats that sound great.

      @@BoloDaProducer Correct, the general public (Major artists/producers included) cannot tell the difference in audio quality (mofos cant even tell if a 808 is off) and I have also had artists take the MP3 file of a beat and use it to record on, get placed etc. I work with MP3's all the time cuz the person downloaded the MP3, thats all they got, etc. I remember when they would always come in with small DAT tapes 20 years ago 🤣. I simply was answering the question as to "Why NI didn't consider/provide an MP3 export".. Thats downgrading the sound hence why u have to use some sort of Dithering whenever you go to a "lower quality" audio. from 32 bit to 24 bit? Dither. 24 to 16? Dither... ANY time u go from Wave to Mp3.. Dither....u need to Dither to help with the transcoding of information, etc. During the Dithering process there is higher frequency info thats rounded off plus the fact that Wave has a higher Dynamic Range than an Mp3. 24 bit Wave is mathmetically a higher quality audio than any MP3 (at any bit rate). Statistically you are mainly hearing MP3's cuz they are (1) a common medium for the "general public" nowadays (2) Smaller -way easier to attach to a email thus shareable. Imagine how big a phones memory would have to be if it was ll still Wave files?!? :) Whenever I send a beat pack i send a ZIP file of Wave's, buts thats personal preference. All im saying is from a audio company stand point, and a guy that handles post audio. it doesnt make sense to already have a high quality Wave provided by NI and processed in some of the most pristine studios, analog gear etc and export to Mp3, thus downgrading the sound #2cents #science

      @@BoloDaProducer What is the difference between MP3 and WAV? MP3 files are much smaller and have been compressed so they lose some data. WAV files are usually lossless and have not been compressed, so they have more data. This means more in terms of file size, but also usually means better quality of audio and more options for editing. (audio engineers dream) Give me the Wave! lol

His Beats Are Full And Clean and Very Professional Sounding But They Sound Like Everybody Else's Tracks That's Out there... Minds (MPC) Just Sounds Different, Plus They say (including Him) That I Found A Unique Sound and Style of My Own... All I Have To Do Is Get Better At The Mastering Area's and That's Where I'm At Today... I'm A Armature But i Have A Professional Ear... So With all My Musical Artillery's, iT's A No Brainer...I'm Chasing That Professionalism Because That way GOOD Money Will Be Made Cause We All Want Big Bucks But That's Not My Driving Force... The MPC Platform Is My Driving Force... I Love The Touch Screen Setup Wit Those Buttons. 😁

      @@babysunn2 I'm glad that everything clicks with MPC and great to hear you are loving the experience. Similarly I have a full-time job too and music is more a passion than profession. While you can get the cleaner sound with Maschine, there are sound options to give the overall track a grittyness similar to old school samplers too. I wonder if maybe that's what your referring to. Either way, the gritty, grimey whatever you want to call it is def something you get with maschine which was more my point... MPC works best for you, so stick with it! Hopefully we'll be hearing some babysunn beats on the radio sooner rather than later!

    For me I dont get the need for a standalone drum machine sampler, when the bulk of real production is done in studios where you have access to massive cpu power from the latest computers and all the sounds from plugins and hardware instruments and fx to properly produce your records. To each his own tho. I guess people just want toys they can play around with.

      Many people want the flexibility to be able to start a sketch of music when the inspiration comes, anywhere, without the need to hook up to a computer. You can always finish it up on the software or in the studio, but getting down a quick sketch before you lose the idea is also important.

      @@femmy820 you do realise Bolo was complaining about not having fully featured instruments like kontakt in standalone mode. Im like you are in the studio just hook it up and work off ya computer. How hard is that?

      @@kwameeyiah I was talking in general terms and not specifically about Bolo. Also there are times when you are in the studio, but will prefer to do many things straight from the hardware and not look at the computer screen or use a mouse, because it is just faster that way.

    My Korg Krome from 2012 had a touchscreen on the workstation! 10 years later, Maschine did not implement it on their products. That is without excuse!

      I dunno. I hear you. But most people who start using maschine, including Bolo, will tell you that they barely felt the need for the touch pad. I like the idea that I don't have to worry about the screen getting messed up and touch functions not working as well (long term). That being said its not like id be mad if NI added a touch screen in future models haha
