They've also been very talkative responding to their UA-cam channel comments in regards to questions about the Kontrol keyboards and Maschine (in response to "When's Maschine 3.0?": "Keep your eyes peeled if you're looking for new hardware!" among a lot of 🤫 and 🤐 replies). Maschine MK3 just received a $70 price drop at Sweetwater. The keyboards are going out of stock and not being restocked. NOBODY is talking about any of this lol it seems pretty obvious to me something new is right around the corner, but who knows until we actually get an announcement.
I'll believe it when it's announced. NI always pulls this after a komplete Ultimate release. They take YEARS to update machine software which has gotten better over the last 2 years. But now it's not the time for them to focus on hardware but hardware that fully benefits the software.

I totally agree. They definitely need to do a update on the Maschine+. Like you mentioned; some things they got right, some wrong. Also, make it easier to import samples from the SD card. I’m having a helluva time doing that.
I had a new one and reluctantly parted with it after five heartbreaking weeks, as it wasn't up to the job. But an update of revised software would get me back on board in a heartbeat.
I've been a hardcore Maschine plus user for about 9 months now. I have just bought an Akai MPC Live 2 because there are just some things Maschine needs to fix. On a workflow level something as simple as 'bounce in place', which is one button on an MPC requires you on Maschine to make another instance of the sampler on another pad and re-record every time. For live application MPC live has more outputs, midi and even phono input. The most important thing that Maschine Plus lacks is a standalone autotune plug in which the MPC has, making it impossible to create a professional modern vocal chain. There are expansions and workflow features that are more intuitive on the Maschine Plus but Bolo you are right about it being ahead of its time and in desperate need of a revamp or update. On a positive note if you look at the top comments of people voicing these complaints on Native instruments UA-cam videos, they recently have responded to multiple people saying that new hardware is on the way soon. So it looks like a Maschine update may be on the horizon.
Yup. I’ve made 10 completed songs with vocals on the live 2 that sound even better sometimes than when I record into logic. It’s not even worth the headache to try that on the plus. I’ve used maschine for over a decade, started making music with it. It’s just beyond ridiculous how this company has fallen, how they fleece money out of people for recycled sample packs, and how they abandoned their flagship product
Well said, well said... I would say it is an ironic commentary on our time that we cannot do a "pro" vocal chain without Autotune... It always reminds me of the Making of "We are the World", where you hear the camera picking up the vocal tracking session with Lionel Richie, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson and company, and it sounds like the final vocals. And when Cyndi Lauper' jewelry made noises, they did not iZotope RX-d or edited it, she actually re-sang her lines.Times do change.
I love and respect your point of view but the Maschine Minus is over for me. A waste of 1400 dollars. I would get an MK2 instead. Amazing filing system but too many glitches.
Yup. It’s abandoned by them, shell of what they used to be. Now they just sell recycled sample packs. I rocked with them since 2012, started my music journey with a maschine micro, but I can’t stand the company anymore.
I think we need a Maschine MK2 that lets you upgrade ram, storage, and such like the Push 3 does. We need to have most of not the entire Komplete library in a standalone device, otherwise why not just use a MK3 hooked up to a computer?
I do not care much for standalone, but as a controller, the MK3 has been great with its Komplete ecosystem and really good browser. Plus I use it with JAM, which gets a new life in Bitwig. True, the software is not as with the times as it could be, but it is a great controller AND even an audio interface. I guess I like to focus on the positive creative music tinkering! Also still great for live performances.
I agree with what you 💯%, I just switched back to the Maschine+ because my old 90 style of beats come out sounding best using the M+ in controller mode but ya even the software need a few key updates that should have been there 4 years ago

And I believe the clues are in front of our face. With the major partnership with Izotope it just looks like there gearing up for something big. Imagine a daw with Izotope as your built in plugins for mixing and master lol I could be wrong but it’s something to think about!!
Updates cost money, and an MP3 license also cost money. People often believe, companies work for best user experience. That's not true, they work for maximum profit. So I'm not optimistic about your wishes.
Yo, Bolo, I personally came to the opinion that for the money that the Maschine+ costs, it's better for me to buy a MK3 and a laptop with parameters comparable to the processor power of the Maschine+. It seems to me that this gives more advantages, besides it makes me portable just as much as the battery charge of my laptop will allow. The only drawback is that you have to carry it everywhere with you, but modern laptops are so thin, especially those that do not have a video card that is not necessary for our purposes, that I do not see this as a problem.
I think you pointed out some key things for Maschine. Right now for them to allow Kontakt on the Plus, it needs a new CPU. There are options and would suite this perfect. I forget the company name but there are small cpu's that are meant for gear like a Maschine, Push, and MPC. I'm saying new and improved.... Thy have larger storage, more ram and higher processing speeds. I need to be able to use Kontakt/Play series with the drum expansions... It only makes sense. It also seems NI has gone very quiet ever since the CONVERTERS MOVEMENT started. I think if they don't step up the game in that direction as well they may not have many years left to keep making excuses or trying to fool the masses......
The Micro is Really Better I can’t front that little drag and drop option is 🔥🔥 It’s simple and moves quick I’m just messing with the Mpc 1 and it’s Okay I’m trying to get back to the Mpc workflow from my Mpc 500 days cause Native Instruments got me spoiled
I don't think they are gonna do any more major updates. There are def some disappointing aspects of it, but i love the M+ as it is. I have been lucky not to have crashes like some people.
WIth Native Insttruments (well Native Instruments, Plugin alliance, Izotope and Brainworx) the question I have to ask people is what standalone hardware does Native instruments has that has been updated/upgraded (not controller but standalone)? As far as MP3 import/export its really only this genre that transfer files in non lossless formats, and to be very very real Rap and Hiphop is not one of the things that they lean into. To re-code Kontakt as well as their kontakt libaries is a tall tale especially when they making other things in the future (Im only speaking as a software developer and a person that has been a musician/ producer for the last 20 years or so)

Native don’t listen to what consumers request, FL Studio just released a bomb update, and most updates are reflections from consumer requests. Native got to get it together.

They should definitely do an upgrade. And what u mention about the Kontakt instruments. They should make a kontakt mini or something for the plus standalone. Option to choose 20-50 instruments and not a whole kontakt plug in. Anytime you favorite a sound it goes straight to that folder or add to plus folder or something. Many times I work on standalone and use say a crappy sounding bass or piano but I know what I would use from kontakt instruments
I want them to just sell the current owners an expansion dock that has a battery, subwoofer, and 4 speakers. They could put an output expansion like the Akai did BITD for 8-16 analog outputs. They could make a lot of money doing that and it would be a quick addition to current gear that would need very minimal engineering. They could make it supplement and compliment the processing power of the Maschine+ by bridging the bus power for the CPU and RAM lanes. They could even make a premium dock that would have a laptop hinged touch screen OLED display to be able to easily draw waveforms or edit EQ spectrums or draw automation etc. A real easy thing they could do would be to allow USB/bluetooth track pad connections or stylus that could interface with the 2 small screens. They don't need to develop a whole new deck, just make a modular enhancements work more regular software updates. I want MPE support! I want better Cubase integration! I want tighter exclusive Kontrol MK2 MK3 keyboard integration. They really need to do something, AKAI killing it, now PUSH, Elektron, etc. They need to update the software with easier composition tools too.
Bolo, I need your help brother. How do you access Drum Synth on Maschine+ from the hardware? I usually tweak my snares, and kicks so they’re not the stock sound. Is this even possible from the controller?
The Drum Synth sounds are immediately available by pushing PLUG-IN button on top left buttons, then make sure you're on SOUND on the top white buttons, and push down on the 4D jog wheel, which pushes the + sign on the left screen, and brings up menu options on the right screen for all your Drum Synth sounds, as well as Bass Synth and Poly Synth 🤙🌌

A couple of things I can see them doing in the near future. Finally giving us a full linear DAW since their focus right now seems to be on software than hardware. It’s time for a new Maschine controller possibly in the form of a MK4 or a Maschine Studio MK2 with touchscreen(Bolo is big on those). If they drop a new Studio I would expect the price range to be between what the MK3 currently cost and the Plus. I currently have the MK2 and I am trying to hold out for new software and a new Maschine. We shall see!! Akai and Ableton done stepped up NI gotta respond👀
Maschine Key 61... Though it did not work out as well for Akai... With the displays and knobs being the same, they just need to add 16 pads to their 61 key controller and make it standalone!
Maybe it’s about integration with KKC mk3, and the update makes the KKC standalone if plugged into Maschine Plus? The reviews of the KKC show that when accessing Maschine box-software on the new KKC, they have substantially developed access to Kontakt, and they have that big screen, so maybe the update has more instruments and a better UI (as the KKC has a separate CPU for its’s graphics)….???
The reason is because mp3 sound is missing frequencies. A Wave has all the different frequencies and you do not need to have a certain mp3 software to play it back. analog and wave is the ultimate.
I passed on the Maschne Plus because the CPU is dated. Love working on a friend's though and I'm patiently waiting for a Mark 2. I love the ergonomics of it the most with the pads on the right and the controls on the left! They'd just take my money if it had a more powerful CPU.
There may be some hope for a new NI product. I know they're slow to introduce few products. But, I'm on the fence about buying a Plus next month. And almost without fail, when I buy a new toy, within 45 days the company announces a brand new model out of nowhere. So if I buy the Plus, NI will shortly after announce an Plus MK2, but if I buy an MPC One, sorry probably no new product. Well not from NI anywho, if I buy an MPC One Akai will announce something new a month later. It's kinda like Ground Hogs day but for technology products.
Here, have a like and a fellow JAMmer high five. That thing is great, and gets a new life in Bitwig. Plus, you can use the touch faders as expression controllers for instruments or as DAW faders without more expensive motorized consoles. They should bring it back with softer, velocity sensitive pads. That would be like Force but also with an MPC pad surface!
Different machines lead you to different sounds, I love my 2500 and use it almost exclusively but the stuff that I make on the + sounds completely different and I personally like that.

Been a beta tester for Maschine since 2014. Extremely slow development forced me back to an MPC three years ago. Been happy with the X ever since. Maschine Studio was sold last year……
When the MPC head is still holding a candle for the Maschine+ Are you paying attention Native Instruments?? Sequel device - Maschine Double Plus Good, or Maschine DPG lol... I've run Kontakt on the Maschine+ though NI made it harder after some update. Definitely can't run libraries that need to be installed with Native Access, ie with a serial number. It can only run libraries that require the full version, and even then it can be frustrating to get it going. I think the issue is they laid off so many developers; all they do lately is release sounds. Maschine+ gets updates when Maschine software is updated (though not always at parity...). So I really don't know what their capability even is to give M+ users updates.
Since buying into Traktor DJ software it has been an NI update hell that caused the software to hopelessly lag behind for over a decade now. As such, I don't trust Native Instruments hardware support anymore and got the MPC Live 2.
Sorry it's been over, NI doesn't seem to have plans to push any firmware updates that could possibly fix some issues nor new updates 😂 😂 😂 😂 Give up the Maschine+ Ghost Bolo let Her Gooooo

I would say updating Komplete every two years is a good buy. The amount of instruments and sound content are very diverse. I still love Absynth! Then Reaktor, Massive X, Battery and creative synths... Lots to discover, though not through Maschine +, unfortunately...
Touchscreen: hardware change, very costly. Reading kontakt libraries from sd card: not feasible as sd cards are not optimized for random access, it would glitch. These are very naive points, good for a video, less so for actual feature requests. I like your other videos but this was not it.
I think he is being refreshingly honest. You know how big companies say "we are adjusting pricing" instead of admitting "We are jacking up prices, suckaaas!" Cheap is cheap, but not necessarily low quality.

They were innovative with the Maschine. They saw that more and more people were making beats on their computers...so they bridged that gap while Akai was silent in that area at the time. Now with the plus they were playing in Akai's territory but with no real direction.... should just stick with the computer

Yup, right on, even with a lightweight MacBook Air or a decent Windows touchscreen laptop, it is a killer creative and performance combo.

There is no converter movement. There was a spark but no fire.

Yes! the kontakt library would make me happy The memory issue can be bypassed by sampling the vst sound.
That's not the answer. They need to allow splitting the processes over the USB lanes to a GPU external like with a laptop

They could even make a premium dock that would have a laptop hinged touch screen OLED display to be able to easily draw waveforms or edit EQ spectrums or draw automation etc. A real easy thing they could do would be to allow USB/bluetooth track pad connections or stylus that could interface with the 2 small screens. They don't need to develop a whole new deck, just make a modular enhancements work more regular software updates. I want MPE support! I want better Cubase integration! I want tighter exclusive Kontrol MK2 MK3 keyboard integration. They really need to do something, AKAI killing it, now PUSH, Elektron, etc. They need to update the software with easier composition tools too.

Bolo, I need your help brother. How do you access Drum Synth on Maschine+ from the hardware? I usually tweak my snares, and kicks so they’re not the stock sound. Is this even possible from the controller?
The Drum Synth sounds are immediately available by pushing PLUG-IN button on top left buttons, then make sure you're on SOUND on the top white buttons, and push down on the 4D jog wheel, which pushes the + sign on the left screen, and brings up menu options on the right screen for all your Drum Synth sounds, as well as Bass Synth and Poly Synth 🤙🌌

I was able to make my adjustments. It’s a trip even going from Maschine to Maschine+ you have a lot of changes, and workarounds.

A couple of things I can see them doing in the near future. Finally giving us a full linear DAW since their focus right now seems to be on software than hardware. It’s time for a new Maschine controller possibly in the form of a MK4 or a Maschine Studio MK2 with touchscreen(Bolo is big on those). If they drop a new Studio I would expect the price range to be between what the MK3 currently cost and the Plus. I currently have the MK2 and I am trying to hold out for new software and a new Maschine. We shall see!! Akai and Ableton done stepped up NI gotta respond👀
Maschine Key 61... Though it did not work out as well for Akai... With the displays and knobs being the same, they just need to add 16 pads to their 61 key controller and make it standalone!
They could split processing over the USB lanes like you do on an external GPU for a laptop

Maybe it’s about integration with KKC mk3, and the update makes the KKC standalone if plugged into Maschine Plus? The reviews of the KKC show that when accessing Maschine box-software on the new KKC, they have substantially developed access to Kontakt, and they have that big screen, so maybe the update has more instruments and a better UI (as the KKC has a separate CPU for its’s graphics)….???
The reason is because mp3 sound is missing frequencies. A Wave has all the different frequencies and you do not need to have a certain mp3 software to play it back. analog and wave is the ultimate.

I passed on the Maschne Plus because the CPU is dated. Love working on a friend's though and I'm patiently waiting for a Mark 2. I love the ergonomics of it the most with the pads on the right and the controls on the left! They'd just take my money if it had a more powerful CPU.

There may be some hope for a new NI product. I know they're slow to introduce few products. But, I'm on the fence about buying a Plus next month. And almost without fail, when I buy a new toy, within 45 days the company announces a brand new model out of nowhere. So if I buy the Plus, NI will shortly after announce an Plus MK2, but if I buy an MPC One, sorry probably no new product. Well not from NI anywho, if I buy an MPC One Akai will announce something new a month later.

Here, have a like and a fellow JAMmer high five. That thing is great, and gets a new life in Bitwig. Plus, you can use the touch faders as expression controllers for instruments or as DAW faders without more expensive motorized consoles. They should bring it back with softer, velocity sensitive pads. That would be like Force but also with an MPC pad surface!

Different machines lead you to different sounds, I love my 2500 and use it almost exclusively but the stuff that I make on the + sounds completely different and I personally like that.

Been a beta tester for Maschine since 2014. Extremely slow development forced me back to an MPC three years ago. Been happy with the X ever since. Maschine Studio was sold last year……
When the MPC head is still holding a candle for the Maschine+ Are you paying attention Native Instruments?? Sequel device - Maschine Double Plus Good, or Maschine DPG lol...
I've run Kontakt on the Maschine+ though NI made it harder after some update. Definitely can't run libraries that need to be installed with Native Access, ie with a serial number. It can only run libraries that require the full version, and even then it can be frustrating to get it going.
I think the issue is they laid off so many developers; all they do lately is release sounds. Maschine+ gets updates when Maschine software is updated (though not always at parity...).
So I really don't know what their capability even is to give M+ users updates.
I feel like Maschine (New Hardware + Updates) & GTA 6 are one in the same now. High expectations with staggering stress for the companies! Lol

Since buying into Traktor DJ software it has been an NI update hell that caused the software to hopelessly lag behind for over a decade now. As such, I don't trust Native Instruments hardware support anymore and got the MPC Live 2.
I love the MKIII but have not even begun to scratch the surface of this thing

I would say updating Komplete every two years is a good buy. The amount of instruments and sound content are very diverse. I still love Absynth! Then Reaktor, Massive X, Battery and creative synths... Lots to discover, though not through Maschine +, unfortunately...

Just use it with a decent touchscreen laptop and a multichannel interface, it beats most everything else that way.

Touchscreen: hardware change, very costly. Reading kontakt libraries from sd card: not feasible as sd cards are not optimized for random access, it would glitch. These are very naive points, good for a video, less so for actual feature requests. I like your other videos but this was not it.
Assuming that you are correct and there are no workarounds, I’m not sure we should expect Bolo to be educated on absolutely everything.

Native is hopeless, they are all over the place at the moment. They need to organize themselves and get shit done. If the stop supporting the plus hardware I will stay away from them forever.
They were innovative with the Maschine. They saw that more and more people were making beats on their computers...so they bridged that gap while Akai was silent in that area at the time. Now with the plus they were playing in Akai's territory but with no real direction.... should just stick with the computer
