  • After over 100 uses I decided to make a follow-up on what I've learned about the Camp Chef griddle, Camp Chef BBQ (Deluxe Grill Box) including cooking in very cold weather. The Camp Chef 14" inch accessories have served me well. I still believe it weighs in strong when compared to Blackstone griddles.

A-maz-in smoke tube for the bbq side and you can smoke in it too. Even cold smoke. I throw the pellets on some heat first to take any excess moisture out and light em with a map gas torch. Even use it in my pellet smoker to add smoke.

Sorry - just saw this, I never thought about that but I'll bet you're right. I may have to give that a shot. But - I have a pellet grill, a gravity fed smoker and a Weber performer I smoke on I do have a smoke tube though... Hmmmm.... Interesting. idea

Do you wish you got the 3 burner model so you could get the larger grill box?

No not really. In fact, I fell in love with the griddle. The two burner is large/heavy enough as is and takes up tons of room in my 5th wheel. If I used it more, I'd buy the larger two burner griddle. I actually enjoyed the griddle so much I bought a 36" Weber griddle for home use and I cook on it often. The grill box is ok, but very uneven heat. It's fine for burgers or dogs when camping.

If I was setting it up more permanently at a cabin or something, I'd consider the 3 burner. I'd keep the same grill box and get the two burner griddle.

Just got the latest Explorer 14 x 2 and a grill box. No griddle, I have iron pots/pans that fit well. Do you leave it out in the elements? How are the burners & valves holding up after this time? Should & what spare parts would I consider before all discontinued?

I had it outside with a Blackstone cover for about 2 years. No rust no issues with burners etc... It's been in storage for several months but no issues at all. These things are bulletproof

Do you have to season that griddle?

Just sad that they can make the thing heat evenly.

The upper left third is definitely hotter I=on the griddle. In the grill, if you let it sit for 15is minutes and heat soak it reeky helps, Have you tried the full griddle in this setup?
