I remember I replaced my fuel filter last Halloween!! It seemed an appropriate way to spend the holiday - I remember kids trick'n'treatin' and I posted a Short vid on it. I opened up the previous fuel filter that had I think 30K on it - perfectly CLEAN. Maybe it was all the techron I used. hahahahahaha.

Probably should have disconnected the negative before removing the filter, but good catch with catching the flow direction.

Dan , Ya know, GM had a "Better Idea" for the Standard length, (non -XL version) of the 2005' Chevy Trailblazer. Lets just not put an external Fuel Filter on it at all! Many years ago now when I first bought my Trailblazer new back in 2005', I looked high and low for the fuel filter, and it was no where to be found? And I was like, "Did they (GM) just forget to install one on MY particular vehicle? And after a brief, but informing phone call to my local dealer, this is when I found out that the brains at GM decided not to install one on the 2005' (non-XL) version? I was like WHAT!?!? However, had I bought the the XL version there would've been an external fuel filter just like this one in the video on my vehicle. Go figure!

EXT or not, the fuel filter is inside the tank starting from 2005

@@southwestohiodashcam6838 - GM, for whatever reason? ... decided to do away with the traditional sock type filter in the tank with an external fuel filter along the drivers-side frame rail. And they did in-fact make the fuel filter a part of the fuel pump assembly. Non-serviceable of course. I can't imagine this set-up being better than the traditional way?

@@namrednop maybe it’s because gm wanted to save a few dollars every car made and f*^$ the average you and me who just wants to save money and wrench on their own car. Some say it’s because they don’t want you working on your car. Gm just wants to penny pinch every way possible. I am just having issues getting my TB ext lt ‘05 to accelerate as fast as stock should. Replaced cat, new air filter, throttle body cleaning, new ignition coils, spark plugs, yes they are acdelco and proper gap, maf sensor cleaning, new thermostat and temp sensor, and some other odds and ends I probably didn’t mention. Next up is the check valve on the brake booster because I did have to patch a hole in the vacuum line along the way and my brakes perform so much better. Seen someone have the check valve replaced and it accelerated so much better.

@@southwestohiodashcam6838 - Now-a-days the average Joe can't even attempt to work on his vehicle because of the way the Manufacturers have made things so technical, which in-turn, has made them very difficult to work on. Sounds like you have thrown the Parts Cannon at your TB trying to find the problem. I haven't had any major issues with mine so far. But I only have right at 49K on it. Yeah, I don't drive too much these days. I can tell you this much, a loss of vacuum can cause your issue. But so can a loss of fuel pressure. If you've got a lot of miles on your TB and have not replaced the fuel pump, you might want to look into that if you can't find an vacuum leak at the Booster. But I'd test, or have someone else test if you don't have the equipment, the fuel pressure first before I went to all the trouble of pulling that gas tank down and R&Ring the fuel pump. Not all that difficult to do, if it's on a lift. But laying on your back in your side-yard while up on jack stands or on an set of ramps is no fun! I hope you find the problem!

keeping the FailBlazer going! I'm gonna install a Magnefine transmission external filter!! Just did a fill tube flush of 12 quarts of Dexron VI and MaxLife - so that means 75% NEW ATF since I mixed it in.... I could tell the transmission drove better even though the Remans Trans just has 15K on it. Crashed out at 270K. What are you at now?

Silvester has about 120k on him. Still a puppy!

@@TheDaninator Silvester?! hahaha I wonder if there is an easier way for me to do this? hahaha. I think I can maybe zip-tie the filter to that metal heat cover thing by the two cooler lines? There is a brass retainer e-clip quick connector for the last section cooler line going back into the transmission - a 2nd section after it comes out of the radiator. I ordered a "Push-On Hose Fitting: Inverted Flare, 3/8 in x 5/8 in Fitting Size, Male x Female, Rigid" (Grainger) and then a "TRANSMISSION LINE CONNECTOR WITH A 3/8 TUBE X 5/8-18IN. THREAD" that has the e-clip or retainer clip for the metal cooler line going into the transmission. Then I got the 3/8" Gates transmission hose - 2 sections of one foot each. Then also a brass "TRANSMISSION LINE CONNECTOR WITH A 3/8 TUBE X 5/8-18IN. THREAD" that I'll stick into the radiator connection that also has the retainer e-clip. Then some extra retainer e-clips and four fuel injection hose clamps since they have uniform tension and are stronger than a worm clamp. . So the reviews of the Dorman TRANSMISSION LINE CONNECTOR WITH A 3/8 TUBE X 5/8-18IN. THREAD said "The difference in the depth clearance between beveled edge and c [e] clip" causes a leak - and so to get the OEM ACDelco - which is $35 (Out of Stock) compared to $6 for the Dorman. hahaha. Better than paying another $3K to get a Reman Trans like I did, now with 15K on it. Now I just wait for those connector parts to arrive. The filter should arrive today and the connector parts in a few days. It's better than just ordering a plastic quick connector! My uncle told me a plastic Y connector broke in his Suburban radiator line - destroyed the engine.

fwiw, the strap on my fuel filter broke all by itself. I guess the plastic gets weak over time. It's interesting to see the lines move when pressurized.

Tell me this does a 07 Chevy trailblazer have a fuel filter? I was told that they changed everything in 06 and that's the fuel filter was built inside the fuel pump. Is this true? Please let me know. Thank you. Pill Okc
