Hi, I realise after that I forgot to mention the importance of the filter. I applied a LPF with a strong enveloppe to emphasize the punch and filter the general sound. You can slightly turn up the filter to let pass more High Frequency. But Like I mentioned, this is more to create the body of your kick, for the mid and top end, I will cover it in two weeks.
I always get lost when creating kicks. After a little while your hearing is not working right anymore. What helps for me is to have an example kick to compare to reset my hearing :-) Thanks for the tutorial! Very helpful :-)
There is 3 different but with diffrenet purpose. This one "techno Kick part 1 and part 2" help you to create kick fropm scratch with operator (part1) and then part 2 I made a rack to layer kick to make one (like punchbox or Kick2 plugin). I've made a tutorial Kickpunch where I share a rack to help the mid/hi of your kick stand out and help cut through the mix (and because lately there is a lot of release with kick which have a lot of mid/hi), and I made another how to make techno kick where I explain how I process my kick, which effect does what etc.. I recomend then to watch in this order.
Hey, I found your channel yesterday and can't stop watching. It's absolutely amazing tutorials, that's what I need for last 10 years. Thank you so much! Did you share the "kick stereo" rack?
Amazing video as always, over the last week's I've became a massive fan of yours and i await your uploads all the time ♥️♥️ thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and for being the good artist that you are
Very insightful video! Love how the basic elements of the kick are explained from the bottom up. Can you tell me what the purpose is of adding multiple ' kick fat' racks sequentially? Is it in essence to make the sound more powerful?
Just amazing how you get this sounds, I’ve been following you for a while now and you keep bringing us great tools to improve! Really appreciate it man! Bummer that this one rack isn’t out por Live 9 but I will recreate it following the tutorial! Thx
Thanks for your comment , really appreciated it ! Yes there is few reasons why I dopn't do on Live9, first it's because I don't have it anymore ( have to reboot the computer where it was installed), the second is by making the rack available to Live9 I restrain myself from the new tools of live 10...But yeah anyway for this one I didn't use any live10 device so you can recreate it, the only thing you don't have because I forgot to show it in the video is the filter env setting : env :49%, A:0,D:1.41s,S:0, R:50ms.
Thanks, not especially. You could get something similar with Analog but it's just than Operator allows more control and flexibility, for exemple for the pitch envelope, you got more waveform.
Thanks a lot. With your every release, everything is more interesting. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and explaining this in the shortest possible time in the video, and your live broadcasts cannot be explained in words how cool it is. I look forward to following your releases.👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Yes, I usually create my kick beforehand, but I use the rack in the part 2, this rack is just for the "body" of the kick, the rack in the second part allow me to layer tops/perc/hats on top of this rack directly, but yes I always record when I got something good because a slight change can completly modify your kick, plus it's heavy in processing ..
So the operator you use for your kick the oscillators aren't set to "fixed frequency" so you can play different tunings for your kicks, I understand that. I think your default is G1. Now when composing a track I've seen that you use a recorded kick (sample) instead of the kick you get from the rack, is that the general idea with these? Play around, add tops/tools/clicks (from part 2) and record the ones you like as audio to then build your kick-library to use when composing tracks? What if I record all my kicks in G, but might need a kick I like in a different tuning, is it enough to then just use pitch on the sample itself? Or is it better to re-record that kick in the correct tone? Also, sometimes when you record kicks you record 8 bars or more? Wouldn't the idea be to just have single kick-samples? What's the reasoning behind this? (this was from a different video you made, I can go and find it if context is missing with this question) Sorry for my many questions, these questions just came up whilst working through your kick-tutorials :O [I bought the KickDesigner Tools sample pack for support, will check out more stuff in the future too =D]
Hi man its a great video but for me, I confused a lot about how you make the rack and how to put the micros and macros on it because I have never used rack, and it seems kinda hard to get for the first time so I would like to say if you can dedicate a video where you can make a kick from zero whole creating processes, it would be awesome.
I have other video about kick, it depend what you are looking for, even if I use macro, the process is still the same but I can recomenc you these video : ua-cam.com/video/T2a7lTFjZxw/v-deo.html and ua-cam.com/video/0dSnVp1bd1o/v-deo.html or ua-cam.com/video/IbeXMrvWAew/v-deo.html
For the kick designer rack it's a operator preset so any note should play a sound. Then because you want a kick it's better to play a lower note, but it's also depend of the pitch value on the rack.
I've put Operator into an instrument rack,to do that you can right click on operator and select "Group" or you can just select your operator and ctrl+g . That way you put your instrument into a instrument rack and you can assign 8 maccro to any parameter.
I tried opening this rack in ableton and it says the operator instrument is not available. Do I need to buy or download anything specific for this. I have Ableton 10 standard installed with Max For Live
Thank so much, sorry for such a stupid question 😔. Your videos are so helpful you are the best thank you for everything you do and for all the free racks it's helps alot

@@audioreakt Ah okay :) Thank you for the reply. Really appreciate it. I'm still sadly still get my head around the purpose of an instrument rack. I'm confused about where to save the rack to and how to open it within Ableton after it's downloaded. I"m using windows if that makes a difference.
Just drop the file in Ableton and save it. It will save it in the user library, then go to preset, instruments, instruments rack
