She's pretty popular, might not hit the top 3 after Kasumi came out on the poll but I think tonnn of people love her
I always felt Ann's situation so f-ed up so I would always go for her confidant first but her willnesss to make herself a better happier person always made me went for her romance it's just a complete fit what joker is doing
That’s what makes me like Ann too since I thought she was going to be this annoying blonde but I was wrong she’s super caring and I feel her persona is cool but she’s doesn’t act like it
This just further reminds me why I love Ann so much, she's such a good character on so many levels, I can't say much that you didn't already say in the video, but thank you for the thirty minutes of Ann's actual story
There's still the last 30% I'm missing (her coming to terms with her sexuality, but ya, I'm sure there are already tons of people covering that on UA-cam.) but I'm happy you enjoyed the video. I had a great time making this one.
Im glsd you actually pick apart her character snd show her amazing characteristics and symbolism instead of just calling her a "waifu" like most other people which is extremely sad bc she has so so much depth that people dont take into consideration when talking abt her.

Ann's Confidant is really good and it also bothers me that a lot of her discussion online gets caught up in "her arc says sexual harassment bad but also fanservice." Your thoughts on her are pretty similar to mine, and it's great seeing more analysis of Ann that doesn't go for the low-hanging fruit.
Don't worry, though I can't confirm it. I like to believe that the people who mentioned that "all her character is about fan service and sexuality" are the loudess rather than the majority.

This video is great! I love how you really connected Ann's story to Carmen's. Through this video, I really appreciate Ann's journey.
I just wish the designers had come up with a design that embodied Carmen/Ann's story better. Their desire for freedom is more important than their sexuality. They could have come up with a much better outfit than the low hanging fruit they went with.

My dude, Carmen is the PERFECT Persona for Ann. The most famous line from the opera is " Carmen will never give way! Free she was born, and free she will die!" This is right before she is killed by her stalker, (essentially) with Carmen knowing that in wanting independence, it may cost her her life. Nevertheless, freedom is something she strives for anyway, valuing it more than her own life.

Right now I'm working on Sae's confidant arc and the twist, Shido's palace, Yaldabaoth, and then the 3rd semester's content, then perhaps Makoto's role in P5S w/ Zenkichi. I suppose I'll see you there!
It's been too longe since I played for me too remember exactly what happened in her confidant, but I remember that it brought joy
I remember someone saying that the lovers tarot is connected to Ann by her relationship with shiho or something like that and her dedication to the phantom thieves.
Also at 13:30 I find it funny how Joker is just standing there wondering what to do ss the situation unfurls.

0:19 OH LOOK IT'S ME! As the guy with the longest and most in-depth video about Persona 5's best girl, I approve this video and the additional perspective it gives for whatever that's worth. I think you're right about Ann's character arc being about independence and regaining her confidence, but there is a few things I don't agree with.
I don't entirely agree with the angle you're taking with Shiho in the video especially if we're leaving out Ann's Persona awakening being directly tied to her want of independence form Kamoshida's clutches, with Ann coming to eh realization that all she needed to do was call him on his bullshit to stop him from harassing both of them. As for her catsuit, it's not an indication of Ann's want to dominate Kamoshida but her rebellious spirt recognizing that she can weaponize it as a means of gaining confidence within herself. You mentioned the dominatrix aspect of Ann's thief outfit, but didn't take into account that the suit itself is a defense mechanism. It's Ann's second skin that highlights all of her curves but if someone like say, Kamoshida or anyone else, wanted to Dew The Dew(tm) with Ann, she's have to painstakingly peel it off. It's about shifting both the power dynamics and her own confidance within herself back in her favor, and the only way that Ann thinks that she can do this is by being as aggro as possible. Remember, Ann's whole thing in Kamoshida is about vengeance, with her still weighing the options of to kill or not to kill him until he's defeated.
I also want to mention that during Ann's confidant arc, she mentions that Kamoshida ruined modeling for her, which Ann has expressed is the only remaining outlet she has to express herself besides talking to Shiho. He singled her out for harassment because he saw her in a magazine and then the misogyny went brrrrrrrrr. Over her confidant arc and her interactions with Mika, which you did a great job of covering, she learns that if she just applies herself a little bit then she can be a super-woman to those afflicted with the same esteem issues Kamoshida once inflicted upon her. At the end of the game, she wants to become a crazy modeling jet-setter lady. Not because her looks and metabolism make modeling easy for her, but because she caught herself lacking once and it caused her friend to get hurt. She plans to use her platform or in other words, her beauty and sexuality that was once repressed by a pervy gym teacher, to give people reason enough to hope, and to believe that they needn't hide their beauty or uniqueness from society. Conformity will only get you hurt, and Ann knows that all to well by the time joker leaves Tokyo.
0:00 Persona fans as a whole are a weird bunch, and I'd like to think we both are frustrated with how the fanbase has treated Ann as they constantly misinterpreted all the various nuances of her character, catagorzing Ann (ironically) as a brainless character ATLUS cooked up for fan service. Apparenlty, this was grounds enough for the fanbase to threaten my life for the crime of explaining this to them, but eh, whatever. Leave it up for people to take an incredibly mature story where a woman is reclaiming her own agency and sexuality from the hands of an abusive pervert, and then for those same people to spin her treatment into being one that somehow paints Ann in the same light as Kamoshida did in his palace - an airheaded Brainless Blonde who's there to only be agreeable and to look pretty.
There really isn't any fault with ATLUS writing the femme fatale character to be *checks notes* a femme fatale character, but of course as you (and I) said in our respective takes on Ann, there's alot more to her than meets the eye - I just wish more people would care to look and listen.

I love she character a lot definitely my favorite female character overall I like others but she’s really good and Carmen her self is not a good persona but Ann’s the opposite she’s actually caring and sweet.Also Ann mention she likes the femme fatale characters knowing there not too but likes the determination
I blame Atlus on this one. Like it or not, Ann's sexuality is the most prominent aspect of her character
During the first dungeon she is constantly being perved on by Ryuji, Mona and even the player, same happens with cutscenes or story beats and in battle she is basically a dominatrix. Uses a whip, says "squeal like a pig" to the enemeis during a tag team attack and her passive ability is posing for the enemy and I don't think I have to talk about her battle outfit, do I? Oh yeah and sexuality is also part of a plan during Shido's palace. While she is not a brainless blondie, Atlus clearly designed her as the fanservie character
while that may be true, that part of her is undeniably relevant to her character. it’s not like those anime girls who are only there to jiggle their boobs at the camera or squeal erotically. she uses her femininity as a weapon rather than a personality trait.
atlus’ approach on rise was certainly more fleshed out despite maintaining the same themes though
@@foecres14isn’t the hole femme fatale thing supposed to be her outfit cause Ann is complete opposite of Carmen in terms of how they act Ann’s caring and really sweet but Carmen is not exactly a good person

That’s what XBadgerKnightX was getting at by starting his video on her with a calling card to it: that their vision of the perfect Lovers girl is a foil to the true Ann in every sense of the word. Alice Hiiragi would show how dangerous that can be, but if she was waving the correct flag, we both know they’d scream that she should have been the Lovers girl because all they care about are soulless symbols
