I cannot give up catholic edicts despite the world , i do have that irish heritages within, saints preserve us all in the name of the Father the son and holy Spirit amen
I finally know how to make a Brigid's Cross! Using the wheel, really puts it into perspective for me. A sun wheel, wow. Thank you so much, your video was enjoyable and very helpful. Blessed be!
Thank you so much!!! I watched it the entire time I made it, even though I got the hang of it. You're voice was very soothing and I loved hearing how important the cross is as well as its meaning. Thank you again!
I have watched several "how to make a Brigid's Cross" videos and yours is the easiest to follow. Even my children can follow this one! Thank you so much for making the Brigid's Cross more accessible and also for realizing not everyone has access to rushes! BB- in Madison, Alabama, USA
Thank you last year I lived in the desert and I used yucca plant...I always need a little reminder of getting the cross started, very clear instruction. This year used yucca again the snow beat down all the rushes in the wild. Thank you Happy St Bridget's Day.
Thank you so much! this time of year has my energy very low and its always lovely to hear nice things like this.. Happy Imbolg and Brigid's time to you...
Hi SeanThanks very much for clear and fun instructions to make my cross. It brought be back to my school days. We have plenty of reeds on our farm so I have no excuse not to make one. My mum's name was Bridget and I have made a lovely cross for her grave.Blessings for Imbolc all :-)
This is wonderful! I especially like the idea of using the wool and a willow branch, I've never seen one made like that before, I will definitely have a go at one of those this week. Thank you for sharing such creative ideas.
Thank you Aquarius! Delighted you liked it, let me know how you get on, if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask, more information, on my blog entry-seanolaoghaire.blogspot.ie/2015/02/bridging-goddess.html … Sean.
Happy Imbolc. You inspired me to go pick some reeds, and make my own. It turned out pretty well I think. I’ll post a photo if I can figure out how the app and my phone will let me.
Sean, I'm very grateful for you share your amazing videos. Brighid bless you so much. Every Imbolc I used to make Brighid 's Cross. Sure you are a great teacher! Many blessings to you.
Thank you, Karista, feedback is always great, I've taught workshops for years and try to make sure, you can actually make what I'm showing! Paper-making next, Sean .
Thank you so much for taking the time to explain this tradition. I really enjoyed this video. I am from the States and rather enjoy learning traditions from around the world. I’ve always been drawn to Celtic Crosses. I think because of the symmetry and weaving. Shame on your teacher for calling you smart. You were just a curious little boy who was eager to learn!
thanks so VERY much for posting this. I have been wracking my brain on what to do about having a Bgighid's Cross (I live in Chicago, we don't have rushes here where you can legally get them). I guess I'll be popping over to my local craft store to find some pipe cleaners so I can make one for my room and my kitchen. Many Blessings.
+Rikki Saldivar And blessings to you, thank you so much for kind words of praise, I'm another video for this year ready, your words have inspired me to get moving! thank you,
thank you for all the ideas, I was lookin for different ways of making it for this coming Imbolc only a lil over a month away yay. I luv the way you explained it all. :-)
Absolutely love this! Informative and helpful and a real education about the origins, too. I knew some already but this added lots of gaps in my knowledge. Utterly charming video too. Fair play to ye!! :) Go raibh míle maith agat, mo chara!
MaelBrigde3 it will never come down, so glad it has informed and helped so many, hoping to make another over the couple of days, that will give even more information...
I absolutely loved how you integrated the cross and fit a pattern you used the wheel. I’m definitely doing it with my kids with the pipe cleaners. Thank you!
Ah ... fior gálanta a Sheáin. What a friendly and fun video. I'm scanning the horizon for the new and the old for a Retreat in a week's time (of course!) in the west of Éiriú. May i use the hoop cross idea with our pilgrims? We may have a few children too and your energy makes it not a bad idea at all .. (had me resistance at first. Bit of purist here!) .. Beir bua ! On FB the event is called "St Brigid's Pajama Party" ~ feel free to invite any mná na hÉireann from your part of the planet! GRMA
Aha! ... just espied your reply now, (today of all days, of course) ... which makes me want to ramble over to FB and see if you found me! ... A Sheáin, was it you who flashed a cross within a ring at us? That symbol was already living in me very strongly, so when i saw it, it was like 'permission' or a blessing to create same! .. Well, i made one anyway last night. Ah. Just glancing at my first message to you and i've answered me own question. (Slow internet here means the video is loading slowly today) ... Over to fb now ;-) agus beannachtaí na Fhéile duit! xXx
Master Blackthorne that is right , I keep meaning to put in an annotation to correct, thanks for reminder! Hope you enjoyed the video, apart from the mistake?
Thankyou SOOOOOOO Much for posting this! Bless your soul! Because it's freeking 9 PM here and TOMORROW is Imbolc and I have only JUST remembered OwO"" I was like... you know, a holiday hasn't come up in a little bit... * checks my calendar and nearly has a heart attack * I have hope that the lord and lady just laughs off my utter incompetence, seriously ^-^" This isn't the first holiday, and I have all sorts of other things going on, and I'm 16 and still in school with no other Wiccans around me and... *sighs* I'm ok, right?...
Not only the four seasons, but also the four elements, cardinal directions, sacred animals, main moon fazes and sun fazes (equinoxes and solstices), more alchemically we have the four qabbalistic world of Atziluth; yetzirah; briah; assiah which is apart of the YHVH, in the tarot there are swords; cups; wands; pentacles and theist goes on
What are the four seasons? I know you write them but what do they represent? When I google Yule it says it is like Christmas but I can't figure out the others. Is there a way to translate them?
Thank you Bridget, for a really good and important question. I'm waiting to get my computer fixed at present but once i get it fixed, I'll l be off again.
A very warm thank you for this video. I cannot find Rushes in Central Missouri, it may be I don't know where to look. What I did find is a Rush-like plant by the river called puzzle grass, it is straw-like, or hollow but very rough due to the high silica on its outer surfaces. It is also in segments resembling bamboo in appearance if you only glance at it for a split second. There is a picture here, www.newmoonnursery.com/plant/Equisetum-hyemale. I was so happy that I could make the cross as close to tradition as this, even if it's not from the Isle itself. I will post a picture, or a link to it later, if I can make it with this "Missouri" Rush.
Evelyn Mitchell best of luck with it, Evelyn. Will be great to hear and see how you get on. It’s a great honor to help so many people, making the cross! Thank you for your kind words and many blessings for the year ahead!
Thank you. It worked way better than I thought it would. We had quite a bit of freezing weather so most of the Puzzle Grass/Horsetail Rush (Equisetum hyemale) was browning but some were usable. I put a link to the post on my blog in the above comment, 2/1/2018. My St Brigid's Cross is small only three strands per season, but I am pleased that it worked. Thank you so much!!
wauw i really enjoyed watching your video ! x And very helpfull ! x i'm making one of these for sure next year at imbolc :) x too bad i found the video too late for this year :p x BB
Okay I made mine from Rough Horsetail, or what we call Puzzle Grass, it is hollow and it is a type of Rush and it bends nicely, which surprised me. I don't know how to add a pict to the comments but I can put a link to my post on my blog. My cross is at the bottom of the post. www.evvie01.com/groundhog-day-start-of-imbolic-season-or-st-bridgids-day/ My blog is a work in progress. There isn't much on it.
You make me laugh you could be living in a desert or something lol so Irish. I am living in France so I must check if there are rushes but I will probably just get pipe cleaners it'll do the job.
Looks like an OHO DE DI OHO found all over the southwest and in Mexico. Which means “EYES OF GOD supposed to represent the eyes of God watching us at all times which is mentioned in the Bible.
Great video-not just the instruction but the meaning and significance of Brigid’s Cross-the Solar cross! Thank you for sharing🙏
By far the best informative video about Brigid's cross and Imbolc. Thank you so much for making it!
Thank you. I just made my Birgid's Cross out of crêpe paper. Happy Saint Birgid's Day and Imbolg. Blessings.

Raylene Abbott thank you so much for kind words, to me, it is intention and not the materials that matter, so glad the yucca worked out!
This is, by far, the best video I've seen on Brigid's Cross. Thank you!
