Buffalo Trace makes life really tough for craft bourbons. Most of them are twice the price and half as good.
This is the best bourbon in my opinion given the taste, price and its readily available.
My life wouldn't suck one bit if I was limited to Buffalo Trace, WT 101, and Rittenhouse Rye. Really happy I have other choices, but I love that there are great products available that are totally affordable.
tdaveniii Have you tried Pikesville Rye? It's the big brother of Rittenhouse. We love it.
Indeed. That resides on the top shelf, not an everyday sipper.
@@tdaveniii price has nothing to do with what you drink every day. Unless you’re on food stamps.
All three of those taste much better than their price would imply.
Can’t go wrong with WT 101 & Rare Breed!!
I'm glad you guys still have an open mind when it comes to budget bourbon and not just say it sucks. Cheers!
Buffalo Trace is my favorite bourbon! I loved going to Frankfort to the distillery for any of the seven tours when I lived in Louisville. Now I keep a little bit of Kentucky as decoration in my house; a bottle of Buffalo Trace, Eagle Rare and Wild Turkey 101.
Solid! Yes, absolute best way to describe this bourbon for sure. It is in no way shape or form a “lower” end bourbon. It’s more of an all around welcoming whiskey and lets itself stand up and be proud of what it is. Great neat, on the rocks, and wonderful in mixers. And you wouldn’t be apt to feel bad for drinking it any way you wish since it is roughly going for $23-ish on the shelf.
My go-to is Eagle Rare, but in its absence, I always go with Buffalo Trace. Such good stuff.
I came from finding bourbon really strange about 20 years ago and now having found this new hobby being a home bartender, gradually finding bourbon my favourite whiskey at the moment. Buffalo Trace is at the top of my list along with Four Roses. I have started to appreciate drinking it even neat at times. Glad to find your channel, such a nice way to learn more about bourbon, thank you so much for your content! Liked and subscribed immediately, you are a charming couple and so knowledgeable about bourbon. :)
Always Have one open and a backup ready. Love buffalo Trace!
Love this bourbon, it’s solid and reliable. My go-to for a bourbon Old Fashioned cocktail. So well rounded on the notes of a bourbon taste but nothing eccentric which is what you can find later as you acquire your preferences in this spirit experience.
Sara, your description of B Trace was/is spot on. I literally feel the same way about it..
Tried for the first time tonight. Very drinkable for a new bourbon drinker
You guys are awesome. Definitely learning about whiskey. Your videos are so helpful.
It looks as though it's a very enjoyable experience for the both of you. Thank U.
Agree. This is an easy, value based every day sipper that doesn't sacrifice on taste.
The bottle looks good too I have it on display with my western stuff.
The 2nd bottle of bourbon I ever bought. I love it! I kept the bottle.
Yes! More of these type videos on attainable bourbons!
Just one word, “Solid.”
Nice, classic review with a sweet intro!Cheers guys!
Sipping on a glass of Buffalo Trace, as I watch this video. Keep up the great work!
Was searching all my local liquor stores for this, and today went into Sam's Club and found it plentiful for $22. What a steal. Needless to say I'm going to pick up a second bottle tomorrow 😅
Buffalo Trace is a spotty find in NY (and a little pricey) , but whenever I see it, i pick up a couple of bottles, and of course stock up when I am in KY! As you say it is a SOLID bourbon. Not one that I particularly enjoy straight, BUT a great cocktail bourbon. It works very well in Manhattans , Old Fashioned or with Coke and on Ice. It holds up nicely but does not over power in cocktails. (Not my cup of "tea" in a Julep as I like a bourbon that keeps it;s identity and is not overwhelmed by the mint.) It definitely deserves a place on the shelf and does yeoman's work at parties!
It's just the quintessential, classic bourbon. You can't go wrong with it
Picked up a liter for $24.99 at Costco. I'm buying more soon.
I love Buffalo Trace. And it comes in a really cool bottle.
I forget more than I should to not take for granted how available good bourbons are around here... It's very very rare around my region to NOT see even the most basic supermarket-y small liquor stores to NOT have multiple single-barrel offerings, and premium stuff like Eagle Rare, Knob Creek single barrel, Bookers, Blantons, etc.
Traveling out West for work/school, it makes my head spin what people are paying for stuff that is stupidly common around here. Al la' Jim Beam black, BuffTrace, Wild Turkey--that kind of stuff.
If you happen to come to Kentucky....check out the ACTUAL distilleries! Most of them do tours for free, or a tiny cost and most do sampling--- the last tour I went on recently let us try a popular bourbon straight FROM the barrel, cask strength. It's a hell of a fun time.
P.S - if you're from KY, try some Ale-8 with bourbon in it! Match made in heaven, there.
Good video, thanks for posting it. It’s May 2021 now, and my favorite store has a limit of one bottle per customer. I snagged the last remaining 1.75 L bottle, so I should have BT for a good while.
Hello from Las Vegas ☺
What I love about BT is it’s always consistently good, but sometimes, and you never know when (but Barrel Selects are a good bet), sometimes you get an AMAZING bottle of BT. Which isn’t a shocker seeing where it comes from...
This is some good bourbon! I always have this on my shelf. Wonderful for the price
To me, Buffalo Trace is THE quintessential bourbon.
Finally got to try some Buffalo Trace last weekend for the first time. Really good stuff!! Went down super smooth and gave me a nice warm Kentucky hug!. Will definitely get a bottle if I ever come across some. Looking into doing a tour.
Buffalo Trace is my favorite bourbon to mix but my all time favorite bourbon is Blade and Bow. Would love to see you guys taste and review it! Thanks for always posting awesome videos!
EL SCIENCE blade and bow is freaking incredible! Probably my third to first being angels envy cask strength and little book.
BT for the win!!!!! Buffalo Trace is my go to drinking NEAT and slowly sippin. I have some BT store picks that are unreal and amazingly yummy!!!!!!! :) Keep up the great videos of the average daily drinking stuff. Great Video.
A great bourbon easily found for less than worse bourbons here in Vegas. I really enjoy a ride on the Buffalo :)
My go to Bourbon. I am expanding my Bourbon experience but haven't found any better.
This made me remember how much I used to love the four Roses 🌹 line and have drifted away not that I hate them but haven’t tried their higher end
Jose Luis Mckenna
Try their single barrel & small batch! Love 4 🌹
I get maple glazed donut on the nose and definitely chocolate on the finish! Also, I think this develops a good bit after its opened. The taste profile is similar (for me) to WT 101, just less intense.
this is in the netherlands 19 euro ( 22 us dollars ) , i have have it all the time on my bar its a good solid bourbon that we all love here across the pond. love your reviews greetings from the netherlands.
This is one of those initial "gateway" bourbons that I first tried when I got into whisky a few years ago, then quickly abandoned on my evolution to better (or at least more expensive) bourbons. I just picked up a bottle again on a whim (because it was only $25 and I didn't want to leave the store empty-handed). Revisiting it now, it's much better than I remembered - a great daytime sipper with fantastic flavor but not a punch of complexity or burn.
Hey, guys,
I haven't any BT Regular, but I do have 4 different store picks from around the metro ATL - all are so different....YUM!
Love making smoked Manhattans with this or Larceny.
Nailed it! Everything a bourbon should be, textbook Bourbon. One of my daily favorites.
I love this stuff. It doesn't last long at my house. : )
love the show! I just discovered Old Ezra 7Y 101 and price wise its about the same as BT. BT is very vanilla forward (love!) while the ezra is oaky and cherry heavy. Can't decide which i like more so i'll just keep both stocked in the bar!
Great bourbon. I also really liked the budget Benchmark 8, from the same company. Hello from Russia!
I finally just found this up in PA. They had it behind the counter lol. Looking forward to trying it.
My store just got our own barrel of Buffalo Trace and bottled it last week!
Nice!
You two freaking crack me up. I’ve tried Eagle Rare and this because if you. Great videos.
How could you forget about me? That night will forever live in my mind! It was so very special and I lost so much of my fluids I will never be able to replace them!
Really enjoyed the review 👍👍👍 Saw you on Roy's vPub recently, which was also really great, so as I've also recently purchased a bottle of this as my first bourbon, I thought I'd give this a watch 😎 Absolutely love this bourbon, and as you say, it's so easy to sip - half my bottle gone already! Thanks, and now liked, subscribed and 'belled' 👍
I love thos stuff. It's very dependable and one that can enjoy without having to pop a 60 to 100 dollar bottle to enjoy some flavor
Hard to find - I found it in the 8th store I visited. (Savannah GA)
Hard to find at $25 - I paid $36. A guy I talked to paid $57 a week ago - and he was happy to pay it. He said it was his favorite bourbon.
Taste? I thought it was ok. I have no idea why people are losing their minds over it. I like the following $25 or less bourbons better - WT 101, Early times BIB, Evan Williams BIB.
Would I buy it again? For $25, sure. For $36? no way. (to be fair, I only had one taste. I need to try it again and maybe I will re-think it)
PS - I love your bourbon channel!
A good Buffalo Trace store pick was one of my favorite bottles under $80~. Awesome cinematography by the way!
Bourbon Junkies Thank you!
Certainly never have a problem finding it in Dodge City, KS. Great review as always!
Dodge City?!😳 Word round these parts is the Marshall don't take too kindly to Dodge City folk..reckon there's some outlaw boys out yonder. Go'on git before the law come round....save the Buffalo Trace tho!🍻
This is the one I've been waiting for.
I know I’m spoiled when the rite aid by my house has BT on the shelf at all times. I don’t really understand their allocation though, cause I can buy all I want at the drug store but the new total wine rarely has it and when they do it’s one per customer lol.
I work at a liquor store here in southern Texas and Buffalo Trace just got out of allocation so I got me a bottle 😎 sipping it right now
Started drinking bourbon with Buffalo Trace. Great taste for the price. It became hard to find for MSRP so when I see it for reasonable price I'll buy cause it is a great value and tasty bourbon. Cheers
Liquor store near me was out of BT last week but I found the Meijer has a plenty! Good review.
her eye brows are on spot! thank you
You should pre-announced what you'll be uncorking so your co-drinkers could sample with you.
Just getting into bourbon and just got this. Half a bottle gone already.
The flavour profile is almost identical to Eagle Rare. Just less alcohol, and a shorter finish.
Not sure if there is £10 worth of difference though.
Love from Manchester UK
I don't see this as hard to get I am in Arizona and see it in every liquor store I walk into. I just picked some up today. A 1LTR bottle for $23.00
One of my fav Bourbons
Love BT... Pear, Honey and craisin goodness
Love Buffalo Trace, I happen to be lucky enough to have two bottles of E.H. Taylor four Grain.
That's very lucky! We still have never owned a bottle.
Ahhhhhh... Good Stuff!!! Just wish I could find it easier!!!
Buffalo Trace is definitely a favorite of mine next to Eagle Rare when i can find it. Here in Florida its hard to find Eagle Rare now Buffalo Trace is a bit easier for the most part to find.
Hi guys love your channel. Long Island New York this bottles priced at $39.99. Just bought it tonight for the first time I’m enjoying it I just wish it was under $30. ANDRE from New York.
Can't find buffalo Trace in Wisconsin, snagged a bottle last year in Colorado for a good price. I did find eagle rare at one place near me, but it hasn't been floating my boat as much as it was built up from word of mouth. The eagle rare was unfortunately sitting right below a heat vent, maybe that messes with the flavor.
I consider it to be the Glenfiddich 12 of the bourbon world. Solid reliable taste, easy to taste, solid history and brand, and a great place for a beginner to start or an expert as a return to your roots.
I just brought my first bottle of Buffalo Trace today , in Australia it sells for $50 + a bottle. My first impressions of it, is that it is a very mild bourbon. This would be a very good entry bourbon for a newcomer to drinking bourbon, maybe even a good bourbon for women to try and not scare them off with a massive burn factor. This is very easy to drink and easy to drink quickly instead of my usual drinking neat and slowly savoring the flavors in my mouth between sips. I would recommend to bourbon newbies as a bourbon they can drink neat. If you want to add coke to something, drink Jim Beam White.
Good Stuff! Her eyebrows are on point today! Keep up the great work.
You can't beat BT for the price. Im glad we can still get it for under 20 in Texas. Cheers
Wow its in the 40s in my area
This is the bourbon that opened me up and took me off 30 years (not kidding) of 'just Jack Daniels" (now JD is still a good drink! but!)....when I say 'opened me up" I mean trying different American bourbons....now, its my new JD; pretty much all I drink! Great stuff!
Buffalo Trace started my love for Bourbon. Being near some ky distilleries allows for some good options at times. I would love to see yall do a review on Cooper's Craft chiseled and charred 100 proof?
The price makes it my favorite...
I also found a small bottle for $15...
They do make Buffalo Trace Barrel Proof. It's called Stagg Jr. Same mashbill. Same age. Just uncut with water. And, it is awesome!
This is super hard to find because it’s basically allocated by association around here in Texas. I finally found a bottle for $25 yesterday. Well worth it. I’ve seen more eagle rare on the shelf than this at my local store.
Watching this video 2 years after the fact. I am finishing a pour of BT. I found it here in Georgia for 26 dollars. I did not hesitate to snatch this one up. I have seen it as high as 40. But much of the time I don't see it at all. The bourbon boom reminds me of the cigar boom from the nineties. When that boom finally leveled off there were so many good cigars available and that remains to this day
just found Buffalo Trace in Virginia for 25.99 before tax. will be cracking it open on tomorrow's livestream! Peace IBN
We just started getting a few bottles a month! Used to be once a year. It's now on the favorites list! Cheer's p.s. $29.95
one of my favourites. loved your opinion on it, keep up the good work. greetings from amsterdam. cheers
Weirdly enough, this is pretty easy to find here in Ireland. Most supermarkets have a small selection of bourbons, but this is almost always among them. Definitely my go to, over Makers, Woodford Reserve or Bulleit
Good choice
Buffalo Trace every time.I find it in san jose @ Total Wine for around 36 and 45 for the 1.75 bottle. The whiskey beats out alot of 100 dollar whiskeys iv tasted.
Great review and you two are such a beautiful couple!
wow - this is also getting rare in some places - unbelievable :-(
It's interesting you guys can't find this in bulk. I'm in south Louisiana, and its on the shelves here about 20 bottles deep.
I laughed my butt off when you said ancient age. XD
My local has Buffalo Trace single barrel. Is this a special for certain dealers and have you tried any?
My local bottleshop in Australia always has this in stock. I'm quite surprised it's hard to find in the US.
Stagg jr is Buffalo Trace barrel proof. Info came from supervisor at BT. Also Harlen said BT is his favorite (who knows 🤷🏼♂️)
Picked this up yesterday at CVS for $22....not on sale.
You can get Buffalo Trace bourbon anywhere here in Lexington and no one buys and it collects dust on the shelf. Store picks are single barrel. nice reviews.
Like me some Buffalo Trace but like you said you have to get to the liquor store on delivery day or it will be sold out.
I used to have this in the bar all the time but I tended to whistle through them a little too quick.
Seems they are on sale at my LS, so I guess it's time to pick another up.
Have you tried the Old Ezra 7 yr 107? Heaven Hill juice I believe and pretty good.
Need to re-try Old Ezra 107, can't really remember what I think about it.
I must re visit the ole buffalo again its been too long but ive discovered eagle rare and stag and makers 46
