Buffalo Trace could bottle Buffalo piss and people would line up to buy it. 🤣
It’s allocated urine
@@reggeckmann3993 is this the chair line for the piss drop?
Buffalo 🦬 golden showers 😂
Rip van Tinkle family reserve Lot P
You have me rolling hysterically in my hotel room. BT is highly overrated but I digress
Cracked open a bottle of The Traveller Saturday night. Was disappointed and will not be buying a backup. 🥃 Got mine for $39. Prefer the $27 Buffalo Trace.
It’s been said to be young Barton distillate blended with unknown Canadian whiskey. As you’re aware, Canadian whiskeys can contain additives and the blended whiskey designation can cover for a lot of crap.
Another twist of irony is that Chris Stapleton has said he’s a recovering alcoholic who lives a sober lifestyle. How was he involved in the blending selection process?
he was involved in collecting a pay day.
$ signs then for sure
lol he sure does like to take other peoples songs to make it sound like he still enjoys it. 😂
Given that information, I feel justified in my initial distaste and lack of FOMO. Thanks and cheers! 😊🥃
He drinks whiskey from time to time now he drinks his own
We do have knives
Trenton: grabs scissors
From the bourbon culture: (What Sazerac needed was another brand that could be sold for cheap and easy to scale up. A whiskey that would contain some bourbon in it and another cheap kind of spirit would be ideal. That’s why they eventually settled on a large portion of Traveller Whiskey blend being Canadian Whisky. Sazerac has been keen on building up their portfolio of Canadian Whisky and now is the time to start using it.)
And a $40 version of Canadian Mist was where they landed apparently.
$25 non-disclosed whiskey with a celeb name tied to it they are selling for $40. Sounds just about right for the Buffalo Trace milk train.
The chance of this showing up here in PA is really low, I’ll just stick to my Bowman Brothers which is around $37
the traveller does show on the FWGS website. it’s not in stock at the moment, but should be available at some point.
Honestly, that is a better choice. Regular bowman has more depth and flavor.
Bowman is a great pick. Just recently picked up a few bottles at very reasonable prices. $43 here.
I just finished my bottle of JJ Bowman Single Barrel and to be honest I'm already missing it. What a great bottle for the price.
Shhhh... Don't tell everyone about Bowman. Trying to make sure this stays on the shelf. I like it over BT.
Trenton needs his own channel on how to properly store whiskey...or rather how he does it and how it should be done. That snippet was great.
Just before his wife suggested using a knife, I was thinking, 'use a knife'.
And he already had the knife scraping the ice...
I was at Buffalo Trace Distillery yesterday. They had this out everywhere. Could buy up to a case. I tried it and it was just meh. No bad but not worth $40. So I passed.
When you start saying things like "it's not bad for $xx", I start tuning out the rest of the discussion. I'm at the point of my life where I'll pay a little extra and get "pretty good". BT, Benchmark Full Proof and Cooper's Craft are all pretty good (to me) and well below that $40 range.
Tasted it at Buffalo Trace Distillery this past Saturday after picking up a bottle of Blantons… interesting taste as you all stated. Nice finish. Not sure if it’s worth $40.
I think we can all agree for that price point. We can get better bourbons that are actually bourbon and not a questionable blend
I tried it yesterday and today at buffalo trace. I have to agree with your assessment, better than I expected but not enough for me to buy it regardless of the hype. Anyone going out of their way to get it or paying a markup is just letting fomo get the best of them. They kept saying this was going to be a "staple" in their lineup, so I think you can expect this to be as readily available as their vodka soon.
They have Buffalo Trace seasoning at Sam’s Club:)
My liquor store had buffalo cream... or something... only BT product I've seen there in 5 years.
@@markcalhoun8219 sounds messy:)
For the 29.99 Cask and Cellar had it, it's an ok pour. You can tell it's a BT product but still has its own heartbeat. Decent flavor just found a weird bitterness at the very end. I'll come back to it and see how it opens up
BT doesn't make it. They only blend it
@sirjcc maybe. I haven't seen a definitive blame list to know who's juice is all in there. Only read rumors. Came off to me like a regular, but more youthful, BT.
I’ve been saying the same thing. It’s a deep bitterness right in the center of my tongue. Sweet at first but wow bitter at the end. Now I need to give the rest away. Had one pour. Won’t have another.
In my area, these started at $45. Few days later advertised for $40. Few days later $35. Not a sign of a good product
I've been very skeptical of this bottle because of how hard they are marketing this thing. Doesn't look like anything I need.
Same. My spidey sense was blowing up from the first ads, into the second, more in the third, and then... and then...
Red flags galore. I'm already quite sick of the BT hype and this just seems like a tacky cash-grab. No thanks.
How do you boys think companies market products😂 commercials and getting it out in front of consumers. Educate yourselves
I tried it and it was not that great
@@FakingANerve For sure.
Chris Stapleton’s hit song “Tennessee Whiskey” is on his album called “Traveler”.

These were available in and around Charlotte this past weekend, I am not interested in running out to get a 90-proof blended whiskey just because it came out of BT.
It does say from Sazerac distilleries and they own in Canada... based on Disco 7 with 100% corn whiskey from Canada in the blend, giving it the "blended whiskey" designation, i have to believe it's something similar.
Trenton opening gifts on Christmas morning must have provided loads of laughs. 😂 Love the way he just leaves that water running full blast also. 😂
Thanks for the critique of this bottle.
I’m actually happy to hear the price point considering there is a celebrity is involved.
Lots of Chris Stapleton fans that will eat this up. I’ll definitely give this a try IF I can find it.
BTW… give a listen to Chris Stapleton. He’s awesome! “Tennessee Whiskey”
Freddie Johnson could piss into a bottle and people would buy it up by the case and sell it on secondary for 100 dollars a bottle.
Traveller was sold out all around Lexington this weekend. Talked with guy at Total Wine who said they got 10 cases the day before and disappeared quickly. Found a bottle at a small store outside Lex that had a few bottles remaining. Was selling for 40 everywhere I went. Haven’t cracked yet because I’m gifting it to a friend. Cheers SLB!
Same here in Toledo! Went to 4 liquor stores all sold out of travelers
Stop chasing and buying celebrity alcohols. They are very rarely good.
Went to a store and the Benchmark full proof was 20.99 and the regular benchmark no 8 was 22 made no sense but I was glad to finally find a full proof one
Just got a bottle today and you are correct I only got it because it was on the Buffalo Trace display and limited to 1 per customer. Paid $39
Always an interesting turn of vents when Trenton is involved!! Love it!!!
I was in The Sazerac House on Magazine Street in New Orleans today. A rep from the Buffalo Trace Distillery was there and tried to sell me on their Traveler blended whiskey. I remembered your review as well as a few others and offered that word on UA-cam is that stuff is not very good. 😂 I picked one up out of respect for the distillery info he gave us along with a Buffalo Trace, their Herbsaint, Meyer’s Single Barrel Rum and Sazerac De Forge Cognac. Paid $38.95 for the Traveler; Buffalo Trace was $25. 🤔
I'm happy Wild Turkey 101 is $12.99 locally for me, but I'm not happy it comes in a plastic bottle. 750ml bottle of bourbon shouldn't be plastic unless it's $4.99, lol.
I refuse to get FOMO for any bottle. I just patiently wait for bottles at good prices. If I get them, great. If I don’t, oh well. I’ve been doing this bourbon thing for over 5 years now and finally got a Stagg for under $100. No way I’m paying triple the price for anything .
I'll leave it for all the buffalo trace taters
$40 for this? no damn way. Knob creek 12 year is $47 here and I'm buying that every time over this.
Man where do you live that you’re getting knob Creek 12 for $47 a bottle?
I wanna live where you do, KC12 is $65-70 here, when you can find it
@@francisortwein9846more like $74
This is supposed to be a really available release. KC 12 is never on the shelf where I live.
@@davidteller7681 incredible, but dont be fooled, ive seen stores with it here for $90. My store i buy them at $47 also givers 5% off 6 bottles or more. so i buy 6 at a time and they are $43.
“We are in a kitchen. We have knives”.
Trenton - selects scissors and proceeds to use as a knife
I got one in South Florida for MSRP. Light whiskey but I enjoyed it. Notes of vanilla and honey. Short finish. Good whiskey at MSRP but not worth more.
Might as well buy all of the Benchmark iterations...for the money, they are all equal to or better. Buffalo Trace as well...but that...not Traveller.
that frosted bottle look is kinda amazing.
How can you not know who Chris Stapleton is? LOL Thanks for the review.
Why would I?
I do trades a lot and when bottles get sent to me up here in Maine.. they look not as bad as that but yeah u gotta give it a day to get down to room temp 😂
Kitchen! Knives in there, what a new concept for Trent! He learns something new everyday and we are there to point it out. Keep up the good work.
Might be a dangerous learning.
Has knives but uses the meat scissors 😂
BT is a favorite. No surprises there. I can't imagine ever buying a "traveler" bottle, no matter the story or artist involved, though. As for Benchmark, it's a good coke mixer. I'll pick it over Beam and Jack for that. Benchmark Single Barrel is actually a pretty good, cheap sipper for me - around $23 in SW Ohio when I see it. It's 95 proof, I think. YMMV.
FOMO is strong in the bourbon world. You’ll buy when you see it. 😉🥃
@@jaxcoop1511 True that. Woulda been me a decade or two ago. They wouldn’t make and market the stuff if they couldn’t sell it. My gray hair has brought discipline, though - one of the few benefits of all the miles traveled. Cheers!
Whiskey schmiskey. What I can’t understand is how Trenton has never heard of Stapleton before. Country music fan or no the dude is arguably the most famous singer in the world for the last five years. His Super Bowl national anthem last year was the best of all time. Check out the Steeldrivers, Stapleton’s band prior to going solo. He is kind of country but mostly I’d put him in an Americana/Rock category. Ok, no more fan-boy ranting. 😂😂😂
I did not expect to see a knife torture test in this video!
Where I live in South Georgia the price on Buffalo Trace is all over the place if you can buy it from $ 39- $ 47. In our town I went to buy a back up bottle and the new store said that if I bought a bottle 1 bottle limit) of Buffalo Trace I would have to buy a bottle of Nue Vodka. I left the store without buying anything. I went to another store in my small town they had a 1 bottle limit also @ $ 47. I will look again when I go out of town for another bottle. I haven't seen The Traveler yet in our area.
Trenton needs to learn about Chris Stapleton! He is from Kentucky and his music is amazing.
I picked up a bottle today and I’m not disappointed. It looks nice sitting next to my other Buffalo Trace bottles. I’m lucky to be in Kentucky so finding popular spirits isn’t that difficult to hunt for. Actually this bottle was sitting next to a Lot B which was severely tempting..
I picked it up at the distillery. Happened to be there the first day that they released it. It’s a solid pour but not worth any more than MSRP.
All over Northern Ohio. Picked this up Saturday, very easy sipper, great smooth and sweet flavor profiles.
Great review! Had a pour of it and I would rather have the regular Buffalo Trace or even Elijah Craig small batch any day. Thanks for the video!
My wife bought me one for $30, it’s good for that. I wouldn’t pay anymore then MSRP it good but very light.
I always appreciate y'all's honesty! I already did not have any interest in this bottle, and most definitely do not now...
Why are you even on this site , go get a gambling problem or something, guess they forgot to idiot prof this site.
@@LewisCampbell-h6y Apparently someone doesn't even know the English language.
Education is important, good whiskey and a good tuned guitar is importanter.
🤣🤣🤣🧌
Just playing
I paid $36 total and its good! Sweet vanilla oak to me
I'm a little South of Atlanta. We can't even really find Buffalo Trace bottles here. I went to a new liquor store and they had a normal BT bottle for $65. I literally laughed and told them that they thought a lot of their BT. He chuckled and said, we only got one case and this is the last bottle. So I have no hopes of even seeing a Stapleton bottle.
I tried to remain subjective when I tried my bottle, but was disappointed as many others were. For $40 I expect Buffalo Trace and Chris Stapleton to release a better product. Fair nose, light on the palate, and weak finish. Save your money and buy something else.
Thanks for the video. As a country fan I would have bought it just to try it. But since it isnt bourbon, I will give it a pass for now. Reading in the comments that it contains Canadian whiskey (not a fan of it) kind of seals the deal.
Word round the campfire is this is Buffalo Trace blended with a Canadian whiskey. Possibly Caribou Crossing.
I’m a beginner. I love this. I can actually take a whole sip of it.
Had seen it earlier this week for 44.99 and passed it up. One of the local stores here has it marked down to $33.00 so I grabbed it. Plenty inventory available.
Buffalo Trace is like what?!? @3:46 hahahaha!
Probably some BT underwear at the gift shop
I can get Buffalo Trace quite easily here in Maine, it is on the bottom shelf (laugh) at most of our grocery stores. Not going to spend 40+ for traveller.
Got a bottle of this a couple day's ago. While i wouldn't call it bad it's not very good either. I will use it for mixed drinks and not buy another bottle unless it drops to 25.00 -28.00 bucks.
If you want distilleries to be transparent in labeling (If you actually want to know what you’re drinking), don’t buy whiskey without that. Or at least don’t complain about lack of transparency when you do buy it.
I found that it’s largely Canadian whiskey and a smaller portion Barton bourbon. BT blends it. Not sure it’s 100% correct but did see it
I had a chance to buy it, but after tasting it I was like ehh. I ended up getting a Buffalo Trace Single Barrel Store Pick, which was $15 bucks cheaper.
haven't seen it anywhere around the Detroit area but will keep a lookout for it. If I can find for the $40ish price I'd pick one up.
Nice review! I picked one up about ten days ago for 38.00 sweet, creamy vanilla, and caramel. Definitely some type of Canadian whiskey and ?
Trenton said "Stand back mom...I am a knife."
Barrel founder is the new thing to me
It's a fine, light, blended whiskey at $30. It's not worth the hype it's getting, but it is a good 30 bottle.
Is mostly Canadian whiskey with other buffalo trace distillate.
Have you tried Terry Bradshaw? It was a Christmas gift.
I have also a Christmas gift for me lol
Sounds $20 overpriced
Benchmark is $50 in Australia and watered down to 37%
My go to is russel single barrel, but I really enjoy the traveler when I get palate fatigue. A great beginner bourbon.
This is absolutly everywhere here in cali
It tastes like they were going to put out another benchmark and decided to partner with someone. Its not terrible, but for 36 bucks I needed some finish.
Sounds like the Writer's Tears of bourbon. Unassuming and pleasant. Crowd pleaser.
I got Buttered popcorn straight into sugar cookie, then gone.
Loving the permafrost handprint on the Traveller bottle. Shame on anyone flipping this on the secondary “market.” Ridiculous.
$25.00 MSRP would of been a HIT for that Celebrity Whiskey, 🥃Cheers my friend @SLB Drinks
Needed a Ancient Ancient Age at the end but good comparison. 👏
FYI one of Chris Stapletons hits is the classic song "Tennessee Whiskey" it's a great song and one you would probably enjoy, he was not the first to record that song but his version is what I think is the best version, he is very talented even if you are not a country fan..
I didn't know it was a Chris Stapleton signature whiskey when I first purchased one so not why I purchased it, I just liked the look of the bottle. They are all over the shelves here in NC. Personally, I like it. Its a good sipping whiskey. Definitely not my favorite, but pretty good.
Great review, I wnjoyed this bottle. Picked up a couple just sitting on the shelf at Total Wine for MSRP the day they were released. Now it seems to be a "hunted" bottle since its from Buffalo Trace
I paid 28 for mine not disappointed. Reminds me of some of the $40.00 shelf stable bottles ive had.
Benchmark is 19.99 for a 1.75 in Florida
You need a blind, same bottle:
1 left in car for the weekend in summer
2 left in car for the weekend in winter
3 kept in the basement.
Chris Stapleton sings “Tennessee Whiskey”
Complex whiskey for $35?
Elijah Craig
Bowman Brothers
Knob Creek 9
Russels 10
WT 101

I could go on
it will be in your local Total wine and more. i got mine there.
$39.99 here in south Louisiana. Local supermarket chain has at least 6-8 cases per larger location. Very available. I tried with BT. I will wait for your opinions bf my comment.
It’s a bit thin even for the proof point. I’d say it lies more in the Canadian whiskey vein than it does anything else. Good to have around on the bar. But the BM and BT In the video are more flavorful. I’ve seen some flippers advertising it for $150-$200 which is crazy. This is a $25-$35 bottle at best.
BT is hard to come by where I live. Finally just got a store pick yesterday, definitely one of my favorite cheaper bourbons. I love Chris and I’d be willing to buy a bottle to try.
I see these at all my local stores. Most of the store owners have said buy my buffalo trace for 36.99 as it is better then this for 39.99.
3:05 "It's not a bourbon, it's a whiskey." Bourbon *is* whisky. Surely you've seen on the label things like the statement on the bottle I'm drinking right now, Balcones Texas Pot Still Bourbon: Straight Bourbon Whisky. There's Scotch whisky, Irish whiskey, rye whiskey, corn whisky, Australian whiskey, Japanese whisky...and bourbon whiskey. There are also whiskies like this which don't fit into any category, so the label just says "whisky." My bottle of Sidewinder 4.2 is an example - it's a blend of bourbon and rye, so they can't call it either one, just whisky.
8:42 That's true, alas, but my (limited) experience with BT means that I wouldn't. I've had Buffalo Trace, and I've had Eagle Rare, and while they're both good, there whiskies out there that are just as good or better which cost about the same or less, and are a ton easier to find. If I have the choice between either of those two and Bluff Springs, Evan Williams BiB, or Mellow Corn, I'll take any of the latter, no hesitation.
You seem confused.
@@rrmfly89 ❓
Bourbon is whiskey, but not all whiskey is bourbon. This stuff apparently doesn't give much information about its components or processing, so it seems pretty safe to assume it doesn't meet the standards to be called bourbon.
At Buffalo Trace yesterday and got a bottle of Eagle Rare for $40. Also another $40 spent for Traveler. Just for the novelty but I wouldn't waste that much again on it. Viva! Eagle Rare though!!
It’s blended with Canadian whiskey
With the sweetness Would it be good for Cocktails?
I just had this last weekend and I thought it was excellent and that is coming from someone who has a lot of very high quality bourbon. One thing that I definitely will say is that when it's at room temperature it does not taste nearly the same as when you dig it out of the snow.....just sayin😂
On a side note, I did buy a few bottles at 38.00 a bottle. I wanted to get some of it before they start discussing whether it's going to be stocked in readily available or somehow it would be allocated. Allocated only because it's Buffalo Trace. I will say this, it's good but if they don't make it readily available and they try to allocate this they've failed
