Earlier this year I picked up a Model 70 Supergrade in 30-06 with a snapped in two Maple stock Clean break right through the wrist. Bought it from a guy on a hunting forum for $400 with the factory box and literature. Reached out to Winchester and they said send it in. On the work order I wrote please let me know on cost to upgrade to the AAA French walnut. They never called/emailed and shipped it back with an absolutely wonderful AAA French Walnut stock.

The metal and stock work on these rifles are fabulous, as good as the famous Browning Mauser Medallions which I also collect. Buy the Portugal Manufactured Winchester Model 70 with confidence.
I got my first winchester 70 this yr, a supergrade in 6.8 western. Love it. Trigger was way stiffer than i wanted so put a timney in it. It’s extremely accurate so far despite the barrel being a copper fouler. The action is so crisp and smooth. Well put together rifle

Funny you're posting this as I have been heavily considering getting a model 70 super grade maple in either .270 or 30-06. Currently using a 6.8 Western XPR that has been a phenomenal shooter. I bought the XLC version the first year they came out. I couldn’t hit paper at 100 yards and they were key holing at 50 yards. Barnes told me the monos like a huge jump and to be loaded at a super short OAL. I would guess it’s to get them to start not perfectly aligned with the rifling so the projectile comes in contact with the rifling. Either that or they get some powder burn on the bullet before it enters the chamber and builds the outside diameter up for a tighter seal.

@@whiteyfisk9769 partitions are awesome accubonds I'm not a big fan of. If perfection was a rifle.... Oh wait its not a featherweight & not in 270WSM - 7 WSM - 300 WSM Its still a beautiful rifle, and you cant argue with 100 years of results
You know most Good gum smiths that build rifles not these kit builder gun smith's. They say to use the slowest twist you can get away with for the best accuracy. Thats why you 10 Twist does so well the only Twist that could possibly do better would be 1:9.5 or 1:9 Twist . In my 270 WSM and 7mm08 i have 1:9.5 Twist and both will stabilizes the super heavies for each caliber 270wsm with 175gr and 7mm08 with 195gr groups arr very impressive 0.3-0.5 inch groups. And it still allows me to shoot the light bullets very well also . Like with an 8 Twist and up you have to predominantly with heavier bullets. I like having the best of both worlds. @@whiteyfisk9769 I have….The blue tipped TSX I just tried were .001 undersized. That box was bought in the last year. Barnes just replaced them. I have a box of TSX .308 that are closer to .306 it’s maybe a 10-year-old box. I still have those, but I didn’t send them in because I figured I didn’t have enough left to worry about it.
@@tripplebeards3427 idk, im a huge Barnes fan, they shoot incredible in my rifles. But im hearing murmurings of QC problems the last year or 2. I really really hope they dont crap the bed. If they do im going back to Nosler Partitions or Accubonds i guess.
@@whiteyfisk9769 partitions are awesome accubonds I'm not a big fan of. I've shot many of whitetails that act like they aren't even hit with double lung and heart shots and they stand there like they were hit with a full metal jacket too hard of a bullet for me don't need anything in a premium bullet even in my RUMs for whitetails. Imo premium bullets are a sales gimmic unless your trying to shoot a moose or grizzly bear from end to end with a caliber that shouldnt be used on it in tbe first place.
@@tripplebeards3427 ive never used the Accubonds, but used partitions for 2 decades until switching to TTSX. Never had a partition fail ever. What bullets do you like to hunt with?
👍
Thanks for watching
If perfection was a rifle....
Oh wait its not a featherweight & not in 270WSM - 7 WSM - 300 WSM
Its still a beautiful rifle, and you cant argue with 100 years of results
God bless you and your family God-bless America 🇺🇸 🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇨🇱🇨🇱....LET'SGo MAGA...LET'S GO TRUMP
Yep
Slowest twist that will stabilize under your conditions.........................Q.M.M.
it seems you always pull one shot off of your groups if the gun will shoot 2 in one hole the gun is fine we humans are the error factor , keep up the info thanks
