I actually rarely ever do. Considering the number of animals in my care it’s extremely low. That being said, this video is a little old and was just offering equipment ideas for people. These I days I am working on target trading with many animals but still having longer hemostats is a good idea because mistakes and confusion still happens by both myself and the animals.
It’s way cheaper to use products available at hardware stores or plant stores for substrate, for instance a mix of peat and sand. Just make sure that there are no fertilisers or other chemicals in the materials you’ve using.

Regarding tong feeding. Why don't you balltrain your snakes? It's very easy and you will not get tagged by feeding response anymore.

That’s why I do use some of those too
