When Beatrice won, i dont know why all of the emotions of her not wanting to do the show at first hit me. She made a comeback and it was her best work ever.
There's a Rue McClanahan interview on UA-cam where she explains why Bea didn't want to do the show. Originally, the producers wanted Rue to play Rose and Betty to play Blanche. Bea felt it would be like Maude and Vivian meet Sue Ann Nivens. When Bea learned who really was going to play Rose and Blanche, she changed her mind.
Love the 'Golden Girls' and besides the 'I Love Lucy" Show..they only two shows that make me laugh till I cry. So happy I can still watch the shows on TV. Rip Bea, Estelle, and Rue...but your legacy lives on.

that was one of the most compelling aspects of the show IMO, they all mastered comedic timing yet had the range for the more serious or dramatic moments.
Bea Arthur was head and shoulders above the rest in terms of talent and you have no show....without her...in fact the golden girls would NOT have become a hit without her......and you can bet your life the other three who were good in their roles.....knew it!
The episode where Blanche says that the jewelry draws attention to the folds of that Turkey-like neck and Rose says the chain draws attention to the non-existent bosom, thereby Blanche says the chain leads the eye to that HUGE spare tire(her hips). Disgusted with the hurtful Dorothy remarks, "Why don't I just wear a sign that says TOO UGLY TO LIVE! HAHAHAHAHAHAUAHAHA! THAT SHIT WAS LITERALLY OFF THE CHAIN!
Anthony - I see no one answered your question, so I will. NO!!!! That outfit was Silver in color I believe, and was a Blouse and Skirt. The outfit she had on at this "Award Show" was a Dress with a Long Jacket.
She was probably thinking,OMG,it's probably going to be Betty again. I remember years ago when Bea squawked about Mary Tyler Moore getting all the awards. Golden Girls was a great show and everyone involved deserved credit.
Bea looked wonderful. This was when viewers knew all the nominees and had seen all of the shows. Now, you watch the Emmys, (IF) you watch the Emmy's most people have not even seen the shows because they cannot afford the outrageous prices for streaming and premium cable service (Amazon Prime, Netflix, Hulu, HBO etc.) And they wonder why the ratings for the Emmy's are way down every year. They used to have the Cable ACE awards for cable programming. The Emmy's were for broadcast television. They should separate them again. Bring back the ACE awards for the premium cable programming and the streaming services and leave the Emmys for Network television.
My definition of heaven.......dying and spending eternity on set with the Golden Girls. And , there is to be tons of animals especially dogs. It can't get any better than that!
Normally as you get older you shrink but I swear I think she's taller then she was in Maude. She definitely has grown here. It's good in a way because it doesn't give that impression that she was old back then because of her tall intimating appearance, it didn't set her aside as a old women. Y'know. It was the kind of thing of 'don't mess with me' as we see her portraying her two characters and even her own self, disliking Betty white. As the early 2000s came along we most saw her as a old women but not here even though she is technically old

@@PerryCJamesUK I'm not trying to express disagreement with your point, but I think I read that Bea Arthur was bothered by the jokes about Dorothy's supposed lack of attractiveness, so they toned the jokes down in the last few seasons.
@@georgeharrisonlover4300 If she asked them to tone it down, I'm glad they did. I can't see why though after all, Dorothy never really let up on Stan's appearance, Rose's intelligence or Blanche's fondness for the opposite sex. It would seem a little strange just to worry about thing and not the others. Bea was a pro and a laugh is a laugh.
Bea was the Golden Girls! I just love her and may she RIP, w/ Rue & Estel. Both simply lovely.
She brought so much of herself to the characted that it felt like Dorothy was getting the award lol
Bea looks great who knew Kirstie Alley would be such a train wreck later lol
I love how every year all 3 ladies were up for lead actress. I don’t believe that has ever happened since The Golden Girls. I especially love how all 4 of them won Emmys at some point. So well deserved.
Beatrice Arthur looks so beautiful!
When Beatrice won, i dont know why all of the emotions of her not wanting to do the show at first hit me. She made a comeback and it was her best work ever.
agreed, later the producers explained they had created the character with her specifically in mind.
I love Bea, Betty, Rue and Estelle. As little girl my favourite was Rose and Sophia but now as an adult rewatching the whole series I find myself loving Dorothy the best, Bea's performance was so good, so spot on, she was just perfect I'm my opinion and sooo... underrated!!
All 4 ladies gave a master class in acting on this show but Bea's comedic timing was unmatched. Talent like this is rare these days.
Dorothy was funny as hell! She’s my fav of the 3 younger golden girls with older Sophia being my joint fav.
Does any body even remember "The Days and Nights of Molly Dodd"?
I'm so glad Beatrice won an award she so deserved it....😁❤❤❤❤R.I.P. dear lady..
They won from 1986 to 1988. First Estelle and Bea, then Betty and finally, Rue. It was a Golden Girls Winning Age!
Betty, Rue, Estelle and Bea
I actually cried at this one. She literally didn’t expect this🥰🥰
Well deserved!!! RIP Queen Bea 👑
Bea DESERVED It 🙂
Bea Arthur has great acting on The Golden Girls: Season 3.
that was one of the most compelling aspects of the show IMO, they all mastered comedic timing yet had the range for the more serious or dramatic moments.
Bea Arthur was head and shoulders above the rest in terms of talent and you have no show....without her...in fact the golden girls would NOT have become a hit without her......and you can bet your life the other three who were good in their roles.....knew it!
Yes! Bea Arthur for the win. Love her so much.,
She is drop dead gorgeous. 2022 watching
Was that the outfit she wore in that one episode where Blanche and Rose were trying to make suggestions on what jewelry she should wear?
The episode where Blanche says that the jewelry draws attention to the folds of that Turkey-like neck and Rose says the chain draws attention to the non-existent bosom, thereby Blanche says the chain leads the eye to that HUGE spare tire(her hips). Disgusted with the hurtful Dorothy remarks, "Why don't I just wear a sign that says TOO UGLY TO LIVE! HAHAHAHAHAHAUAHAHA! THAT SHIT WAS LITERALLY OFF THE CHAIN!
Steve Price The look on Bea’s face as they roasted her is always worthy of a rewind or two when I watch it on dvd or Hulu! 😂
There was one episode where the outfit had a pushup bra that Dorothy wore. The correct answer is the pearls and maybe you just need a push up bra!
@@steveprice448 don't forget the line about the manly square hips. xD
Bea so elegant
i love you You Ladies i miss you all golden girls is such an Amazing show that will stay in our hearts forever
I love this , bea
estelle looks so happy for her and bea is so shocked awwwww😍💖💖
You can tell they were a real (life) family. Don't ya think?
somehow appropriate that she received the final award for the show, also considering the final episode was when she got married and moved out.
NOBODY THROWS SHADE LIKE DOROTHY. this was well deserved. Kirsty didn't stand a chance.
Bea looked really stunned at winning.
And she also won for Maude in 1977
Bea looked wonderful.
Estelle's kiss is soooo cute
Estelle was just cuteness personified! 🥰
Rue, Betty, and Bea were all nominated together for four years in a row. Betty White was nominated for every year of the show.
The Golden Girls was and is a fantastic show. They all won an Emmy at some point and they all deserved it.
I'm so glad she won!
Love ❤️ Bea.
My definition of heaven.......dying and spending eternity on set with the Golden Girls. And , there is to be tons of animals especially dogs. It can't get any better than that!
She was the heart and soul of the Golden Girls. Well deserved.
I loved this woman.
I love how Estelle Getty kisses her from behind 😊
Estelle was such a sweetheart.
Bea so deserved thjs snd she looked so beautiful
I agree. What a beautiful sensitive and elegant woman Bea was…
Brilliant actress and there was something very attractive about her.
What a classy lady!!!
Legendary actress♥️♥️
Normally as you get older you shrink but I swear I think she's taller then she was in Maude. She definitely has grown here. It's good in a way because it doesn't give that impression that she was old back then because of her tall intimating appearance, it didn't set her aside as a old women. Y'know. It was the kind of thing of 'don't mess with me' as we see her portraying her two characters and even her own self, disliking Betty white. As the early 2000s came along we most saw her as a old women but not here even though she is technically old
I can't remember where, but I did read that she got a breast reduction.
Rachel Fairfield I’ve only seen a handful of episodes of Maude. I was watching one last year. It was the episode when Maude and her husband were arguing while getting ready for a party. I don’t think the episode left the bedroom. Maybe it did. Anyway...when I saw Bea in lingerie...😳 I couldn’t believe it!!! To see her show herself in that way was shocking!!!
She was what, 63 here? That’s not really old. It’s no spring chicken but I wouldn’t call any age under 70 “old”!
She was stunning, especially here.
The other nominees who were up against any of the golden girls probably knew who will win when for 2 consecutive years the GG won.
I remember watching this show, how glad I was that now all four had won! Bea looked amazing in that dress to accept her award.

How did I know Bea was going to use the word "delicious"?
I was waiting for Peter to say: ''Oh, one more thing"
Sad they are gone except for Miss Betty White
Awesome that she thanked Norman Lear!
I really wish I could have met her and the other golden girls
Is that Lu Parker, the reigning Miss USA in the background?
Lol Cindy Lou Peeples.
Kirstie Alley? Really?? Yuck!
I second your "Yuck!", and will add my own, "Ugh!" Take her nomination away, and give it to Estelle Getty!
I never knew Kirstie was so blond. When I was little I always thought she was a dark brunette.
