Can you imagine all of the driverless cars that will be on the road in the future. Each car would have the LiDAR system and each car would be continuously sending it's full data to a central database that will show everyone and everything that moves in the main computer as each car passes and updates the position. When you open your house door and a LiDAR System drives past, it will see that your door is open and that you are wearing your favorite ring. Yes, the detail is really good and in the future it will only get better. Did you see the way it works with trees? Even every leaf near the roads may be digitized and tracked as it grows. The condition of your grass may be reported, and we cannot imagine what else this may be able to do.
@@metu5818 One example laid out by OP is:“condition of your grass”; this is solely a geographical condition. In early 2018, Elon Musk said that LIDAR was looking like a bad solution for the visual management of autonomous driving. At the time, he said he might be wrong. On April 22nd 2019, on Tesla Autonomous day, he confirmed this, and no longer suggests he may be wrong. He says that autonomous driving systems that try to use LIDAR are doomed to failure. He should know. As Chief Technical Officer for Spacex, Elon Musk designed the LIDAR system that Spacex use to dock the manned Spacex module to the ISS. On Tesla Autonomous Day, Tesla unveiled their new control board for Tesla electric cars. Their previous board was state-of-the-art from nVidia, but it was limited to 110 frames of high resolution video per second. The new Tesla board can process 2,300 frames per second, and with 8 cameras, there is more processing speed there than is currently necessary. In fact, if their old board was running at 100% processing speed, their new board would run that same load at less than 5%, because it's 21 times as fast. Tesla have been updating the software for this new board since tyey first started taking delivery of them in June 2018. Tesla started putting this new board into all new Teslas on March 1st, 2019, and all their exports into Euprope, China, and Scandinavia this year can be assumed to have this new processing board. By April 22nd, Tesla already had collected more driving data from their vehicle in Europe, China, and Scandinavia that the rest of the industry has collected in total from 2005 until today. By September, 2019, Tesla will start rolling out full self-driving software and asking people to stay vigilant. By December, 2019, they should have collected enough "edge conditions" from around the world to start the process of changing regulations for self-driving cars globally. Meanwhile, nVidia has confirmed they are at least 30 months behind Tesla for a matching hardware release. The big problem for all of Tesla's competitors isd that, between them, they have less than 1% of the real-world driving data that Tesla possesses, and with the large number of new Tesla cars being delivered, with every one of the fleet reporting back about 3 gigabytes of driving data to Tesla every month, Tesla's competitors are falling behind faster and faster. Google and their friends say they have great simulators. The advantage Tesla has with their simulators is they can build in far more reality to their simulators as well, which puts Tesla even further ahead. So when Elon Musk says "It looks like it's game, set, and match to Tesla", he's being very modest. In summary, LIDAR is an excellent technology for measuring static scenarios, like geographic features of wheat fields and river mouths, but it isn't fast enough for autonomous driving.
Data collected by Elon may not stay relevant all time . real time decisions are very important for self driving cars ... Each time you use roads you may fine some new situations out of the scope of road data feed to machine learning algorithm
I think for self driving car what you need is high speed camera, IR camera and good A.i just like human, human just need sharp two eyes, but doing physics strategy in realtime, read text and symbol on street, recognize any object etc, using lidar and radar does not increase effectiveness significantly

What they leave out when promoting electric cars is that the power plant will now produce a factor of CO2, Methane and Water vapor which are all greenhouse causing compounds in the atmosphere. The whole thing is a metering scam.
The comment section makes me think if the technology could detect buildings, homes of rich people who have unaccounted wealth & use it as an evidence in courts to do justice and ensure economic redistribution

Hi, I have a question: since the sensor uses lasers to obtain measurements, would its precision be affected by airborne metallic particles?

if i can see distance and object position, then i have observation haki.
Now we can use this to find Malaysian airways MH370
