But after watching this video, I feel confident about learning it with the company because they're also offering us a free training. I just wanna say kudos man for making it look so easy. 🎉 I'm definitely watching more. :-)
remember that scene in Prometheus where the drones mapped out the tunnels and the crew were able to see it in real-time? Yeah I've been imagining how that's possible ever since taking a hike. Wonderful video!
This is exactly what I need for our 34 acres of West Virginia. My question is, if we want to do cut and fill calculations on how much dirt will need to be moved to create a level area for a construction site, what software could we use to perform those calculations?
Awesome work! Can you share the details of lidar sensor as well as drone equipments. Also, can you capture images over the area and combine it with point cloud to create mesh models ?
Yes, the LiDAR sensor is the Riegl miniVUX and I have a co-aligned Sony RGB camera to colorize the points, but typically I run a separate drone create an orthomosaic then assign colors to the points. It just looks way nicer this way!
Nice work! I have question according to removal of unwanted features from the raw point cloud, is it automated solution that requires only executing command like" remove trees", "remove cars" etc. or is it done in some more manual manner?

@@IndianaDrones if there's any chance you could show more about LIDAR point cloud processing after you collected it? or different examples of the use of LIDAR
Many surveying jobs are processed in local/arbitrary coordinate systems. Can this system deliver point clouds in these custom reference systems and different scale factors?
Hey Drew! Yeah we do this by uploading a both the GCP in the site coordinate system and the corresponding point on the LiDAR dataset. We need at least 4 pts to compute the false northing/easting and scale factor. We also have a way to project into grid then manually enter in the false northing/easting and scale.
Indiana.. when all these covid situations passes.. you must fly to Colombia or Ecuador and do the lidar scanning on the mountains and jungle areas ... Its sounds crazy.. but Colombia may have lost cities.
Yes! Absolutely! I flew into Quito and traveled into the Amazonas last summer. 10 days of beautiful flying. Learned a lot about the ability of the LiDAR to penetrate the dense rainforest canopy. I'm planning to make a video discussing how the LiDAR can "see" through the forest canopy and see the ground! But, I'm looking forward to going back to Ecuador!
Yeah, I'm putting that on the list of videos. I'm planning to do a complete Aerial LiDAR accuracy video. Go through the accuracies of each component that makes the integrated system and the final accuracy and how to measure it. But also an accuracy review of the LiVoX integration is needed!
Great video! Could you also post a video on how to produce DEM using Photogrammetry and Image stitching instead of Lidar? Is there a way to produce similar data output using DJI Mavic Drones instead of Lidar Systems?
I'd like to ask something. Is the lidar sensor and the after product able to create such an as built drawings of the road ? I mean, when road engineers build a new road, then can we see the difference between the ground and the road ?

Our pleasure! Thank you for watching!
Well done! Thanks for your work!
Thanks for watching!
Excelente...Gracias...
great video, thanks. how do you insert contour lines in google earth?
Have you ever done any image segmentation on the output? Like mapping tree coverage? How would you go about that?
Yeah! Speaking of tree coverage, here's a cool new forestry dataset.

Awesome video. The link is broken I guess. Do you mind sharing the data again. Thanks!
It's the top pinned comment
Amazing technology,❤️❤️❤️ I want to start this type of survey in india ........
How much it will cost me ?
How many ground control points
did you process GNSS data? I understand the rover talks to the base station providing corrections for your collected GCP's.. im wondering if you process baselines with the gps data collected by the drone with the base? thanks!
Hey Jakov! Reach out to one of our ROCK LiDAR Experts to give to you a proper free demonstration. Please write to, sales@rockrobotic.com - so we can help you out.
Hi, thanks for the videos and information, in any project have you used ground control points (GCPs)? would help improve your work?
Fantastic video! But how do you end up with the final contours of the ground? Does the LIDAR penetrate the trees and the foliage as well?
I like how you made that look so easy, am impressed as a Land Surveyor myself. How much does a set like that cost, I need 1 like last year?
Hey Julian! Thanks for inquiring. Reaching out to a ROCK LiDAR Expert would be the best way to obtain proper pricing information. Please write to, sales@rockrobotic.com - so we can get you answers!
@@IndianaDrones Thanks man, I will reach out
amazing videos! keep it up!
Great video mate! What software are you using?
Looks great! Did you use it for archeology survey?
you're living my dream man!! I'm in talks with a land survey team to join them as a basic crew member, hopefully that will give me the experience along with my part 107 to get me closer to realization. Do you have any other pointers for someone starting out in the industry?
Chris

Good video lots of information straight to the point 👉 😎😎
Thank you!
I got a question for you I'm currently looking to changing my career path and beginning to look forward in drone pilot is it better to become certified or just pass your license test I'm new to the drone world and would appreciate Andy fees back thank have a good day
I'd love more LIDAR videos.
I'm on it! More coming soon! Any topics you want to see?
@@IndianaDrones if there's any chance you could show more about LIDAR point cloud processing after you collected it? or different examples of the use of LIDAR
Great video !!! ... thank you ! 👏👏👏
Thank you!!! Appreciate the comment
Awesome content! Are you using an FPV camera on the M600? If so, which one?
Awesome vid man! What software did you use for post-processing Lidar data?
ROCK Cloud - www.rockrobotic.com/lidar-processing-software
Indiana.. when all these covid situations passes.. you must fly to Colombia or Ecuador and do the lidar scanning on the mountains and jungle areas ...
Terrific job! What RGB camera do you use with GVI LiAIR V? Can it be mounted on DJI 300/200? Thanks a lot.
Yes it can! and I just fly a seperate mission with a P4RTK.
I would like to know - how does a surveyor go from the point cloud data to actually marking specific points?
Using the ROCK Cloud, www.rockrobotic.com/rockcloud
Can you make a similar video using the DJI LiVOX mid-40 testing the accuracy and precision against GPS check points?
Yeah, I'm putting that on the list of videos. I'm planning to do a complete Aerial LiDAR accuracy video. Go through the accuracies of each component that makes the integrated system and the final accuracy and how to measure it. But also an accuracy review of the LiVoX integration is needed!
Great video! Could you also post a video on how to produce DEM using Photogrammetry and Image stitching instead of Lidar? Is there a way to produce similar data output using DJI Mavic Drones instead of Lidar Systems?
Yes, definitely... check out www.rockrobotic.com/rock-surveyor
I'd like to ask something. Is the lidar sensor and the after product able to create such an as built drawings of the road ?
I mean, when road engineers build a new road, then can we see the difference between the ground and the road ?
Yes! Check out www.rockrobotic.com for more information.
