If you see a TSO show live you'll totally get it. Big ass kit because it's a big ass show. Flames, explosions, lasers, and amazing music!!! This guy is freaking baller
@@somesz83 Wdym? It’s a warm up. Every drummer for any band in the world that has one does a warm up before the concert. And if a Drummer is endorsed by a company such as Zildjan (as Jeff is), then from time to time, they’ll want you to do a showcase of yourself using their product and that’s what he’s doing here. He’s an artist of theirs.
@@VrantusOfficial they’re great for practice, I will give them that. Some people like to use them in the studio, but it all boils down to personal preference. For me, as far as feel and sound goes, I’m going for acoustic all day. Acoustic sounds better live, and with an acoustic kit, you don’t have to deal with the problem of miss triggering, or, in some instances, the module burning out in the middle of the show. I know that almost never happens, but that doesn’t mean that it won’t happen eventually. I’d rather break a head or a real cymbal in the middle of the show because A, at least the cymbal will still produce a sound, and B, I can just improvise on other drums. It’s more affordable to replace a broken head than a burnt out module.
I personally don't care for the "electronic sound" of the toms, one needs REAL WOOD to give proper credit. Big floor bass drums for me......old school.
I know that with acoustic sets it's a better idea to use two bass drums rather than a double pedal because two pedals on one drum can warp the shell and make it not breathe easier...but this guy, I have no idea why he's got two bass drums. It's stupid.
Nothing against this drummer but this further proves why a 'real' drum kit will always rule supreme! After maybe 1 minute that snare sound started to annoy me. Even when he tried to play dynamic parts on the electric snare it still had that annoying compressed/plastic sound. In a nutshell it was worse than one dimensional, it felt flat & had no presence about it! Nothing beats the snare sounds of Alex Van Halen & John Bonham! :)
Good old electric drums...doesnt matter how hard or soft you hit them, they give you the same sound. Sorry, but I prefer dynamics and a real drum sound.
DUDE! IT'S AN ELECTRIC KIT! YOU CLEARLY ARE MISSING HIS TALENT! HE IS ONE OF THE GREATEST DRUMMERS ON EARTH TODAY! The kit isn't the greatest but that doesn't subtract from his skills and ability. He plays an Acoustic kit when he plays live with his other bands but for TSO, he uses an electric kit to control the sound so that it isn't too loud in the arenas.

yuppp
crazy looking drums from the from view!!! sounds great
"Can't play very well" 30+ year career. Thousands of shows all over the world. Ok.
I love your music forever your awesome 💯♥️🥁
awesome solo and pretty cool set
Check out Jeff's other band Alta Reign.. with the other TSO company's amazing keyboard player Jane Mangini!
Listen up drummers!!! this is your master...JEFF!!!
He is a great drummer. That's why I don't understand the purpose of this video.

I noticed he has a 2nd kick drum but is using an extended pedal.... then why the 2nd kick drum?? anyone?
The other is a trigger for something else
It say warm up in the description this jam meant nothing to him and I agree an acoustic kit will beat an electronic any day
It won’t beat it in quietness though.

does anybody know what city he was arming up for and what tour year?
Nice video Jeff.

awesome kit
@Jamie Prosser @Buster Odeholm really don't have much room to talk. You guys might be proud of your own drumming but keep it real -_-

the sound of the kit is cringeworthy... great Cymbals but the drums sound so dodgy.
That's because he is using an electric kit so of course they sound dodgy! he is one of the greatest drummers on the earth today!
Why two kick drums? He's using a double pedal on one drum. Hmmmmm.
This question is asked all too often, it is simply for the LOOK!
Not for Jeff Plate. Everything you before you, he hits frequently during shows. He’s not a ‘For show’ drummer.
he's master ))))
he is playing only one kick with double pedal, absurd
It's an electronic drum set

Just tune your real snares!
Roland modules sounds so fucking horrible
Good old electric drums...doesnt matter how hard or soft you hit them, they give you the same sound. Sorry, but I prefer dynamics and a real drum sound.
I can't believe how bad those edrums sound lol.
Good drummer, but the snare sound is not very good.
@Nick Scherden no one cares, where are you with your drumming? Says warm up in title
but is really stupid or useless... i mean he has two kick drums!
Idk man....good playing. Just don't dig thr fake sounding kit.
Please stop playing drums.
Buster Odeholm you mean stop playing Roland drums Lol
He can't play very well and the kit sounds horrible
Jamie Prosser he probably plays better than me and you combined
Trust me he is one of the world’s greatest drummers and Jamie Posser has no clue what good drumming is!
Uh what a shitty drum kit... ;/
