    Hello, ok I just picked this board up. This year i decided to run a 2 board quiver and something different then a direction twin that i have always rode. So I picked up this board in the 157w size. I hear you call this board mid stiff yet to me its the sofest board ive ever bought in 30+ years of riding. I'm 6ft 180-85 lbs with size 11.5 boots. I always ride in the 160-162 size but wanted to try something shorter. I'm still on the fence tho about going short. Any reason you would advise the 160/160w over the 157w. My other board this year is a 162 and stiffer. Both are hybrid powder freeride decks but should be quite different rides. Excited to try some new things this year! ❄️❄️

      What are your other boards? Need make/model/size/year. You might like the 160w better but hard to tell for sure given how little info I have from you.

      I'll start with most of my stuff is pretty old. The last 10 years or so I didn't get to the snow as much as I would like but got back into it the last few years. This year is all about experimentation and trying new shapes. So boards I currently own.. ride yukon 164 from the early 2000's, I never loved this thing very very stiff (this one i dont really ride anymore). 2006 palmer honeycomb 3 in 160 (this one should be shelved but will remain a backup I guess). 2008 burton fish in 160 - barely used but I have found slashing around even on hard pack is really fun. Which brings me to what I want to try this year. Powder boards that cross the freeride realm. I'm always trying to duck into trees but also get all over the mountain except the park. So this year I found a demo jones storm wolf size 162. And a 2023 weston backwoods 157w on a 50% off sale. The 157w I am right in the middle of the recommended weight. I did want to go shorter to be more maneuverable in tight situations. But I'm just a little concerned about stability of short boards. Though I'm not sure this would be short enough to be an issue really. If the weston was my only board ot would definitely be the 160. Thoughts on any stability issues with a 157?

      Ok that explains it. I rememver that ride and its super stiff. If you want a similar experience in a shorter ride you wont get it with the 157w. 160w would be better or look for a different board like the Stranda Biru or Weston Hatchet, K2 Excavator, Gnu Gremlin etc. If you want to do this right hit me here so I get the info I need to help you much better. So, sorry I should have said I am not looking for a similair ride. Wanting to try something that feels different. And I've looked at all those boards but could not find one in the right size or price. What my local store had and for the price I had to snag it. It ticks a lot of my boxes. I am looking for something that is more playful and maneuverable. I should just flat out ask since you've ridden this board and many others. Would the 160 be just as maneuverable as 157 and would the 157 be less stable then the 160? Since I'm in the weight range will I notice much of a difference?
      Sorry I already picked this board and am just debating the size. The store said I could exchange it if I wanted. It was the last 157 and they had many 160's.

      Yeah you might like the 160w better and still mellow/easy to turn/playful compared to what you are used to but the 157w will be fun if you want to try something smaller and softer. You aren't that heavy so you can do both. Just go with what calls to you.

    would this be a good replacement for my old Burton landlord ?

    • @thegoodridesnow
      @thegoodridesnow  3 місяці тому

      Pretty different rides. That old Landlord was unique and while this has similar specs and looks the same it didn't feel the same. The Landlord had such a unique turning experience that it's hard to think of a similar board.

    Hello, please tell me, will this board in size 157 be too big for a weight of 63kg and a height of 172?

      You can turn it with 10 boots but you are very light for it and it will be hard to manage at your weight so I'd say no. What make/model/size year board do you ride now and how do you like it? @@thegoodridesnow Last season i ride for Yes pyl unic dcp , in size 155 and I was comfortable

      @thegoodridesnow  Місяць тому

      That is a much easier board to control in 155 vs. this in a 157. The Backwoods is a much more stiff/aggressive ride. 152 might feel too small so I'd look for another board or hit me up at the link above if you want other suggestions so I can do this right. I hate giving advice here because I never get enough info to help properly.
