I finally get my new cylinder and piston for my 1998 Honda cr250. Thanks for watching and subscribing! New videos every week! Instagram: 2-vintage_ Snap: the2vintage
I used us chrome too, i lived in charleston SC at the time. Bike locked up and had one long gouge down the cylinder wall. They did an awesome repair on the cylinder, BUT even though i thought my crank rod bearings were good, it did it yet again. Lasted about 20 min of running. Rotate your crank a few times and test the bearings in different spots to be 100% sure. Good luck
you definitely need to pull that crank and inspect the lower rod bearing and crank bearings when ever you see the Piston smack the head like that fix it right or your gonna regret it....
They will figure it out eventually theyre youngins. Its also a tough pill to swallow to admit your bottom end is shot when it still technically runs. This is why some people give 2 strokes a bad rap, but its only due to lack of knowledge and maintenance.
Tylor Sparhawk yup, the crank & bearings can't be trusted if debris was bouncing around! You're pouring money down a hole if ya put new parts on top of old , questionable components
Well its obvious hes not gonna listen to us about the crank bearing. I feel bad for whoever buys this bike. Spend the extra 200 dollars and do it right, don't cut corners.
austind191 proud of you!!! Most places request your stuff to be “clean” upon drop off simply because they intend to turn things out as quickly as possible and if they have to pull your studs they are losing time which equals money so they generally get pulled and discarded
Take some advice from people from youtube and do it properly and rebuild the bottom end. I feel sorry for the person who will buy this bike from you. I hope it blows up before you sell it to teach you a lesson
Bro there will be bits in bottom end, there cud b a bit wedged in one of the main bearings, take advice split it,the thing wat has corsed the damage is gonna happen again! split the engine, uve asked for advice take it,also put 2 t on piston wen fitting dont do a smooth rub like in vid, a still say ur crank and main bearings are nackered aswell, also u could put that barrel on now ya dont need the studs yet,put a rag in crank area wen retitin piston so u dont drop a circlip in bottom end but a would split the engine will take 2 hours before puttin top end in,any advice dm me,also put the piston and rings onto conrod, then line the ring up from the bottom of the barrel, u can keep ring nipped in place then fit into barrel, dont do it the top way as u showed in yor vid, also u said that head has markings,if its that one u took off change it, a would have changed it a bit will drop off there wen hot, dude trying to save u 418 dollars please split it an clean bottom end, wiggle your flywheel any noise or movement there broke but they sounded rough in one of your vids, just split the engine u ignore me but u askfor advice av rebuilt 2 strokessince a was 13, 28 years done hundreads
Quick important tip, make sure to apply little bit of 2 stroke oil on the cylinder when reinstalling, put oil on the side of the piston, put oil on the wrist pin bearing. Also make sure to clean off any carbon build up on the head of the dome too. Then you should be good to go. 👍
You are wasting your $413 if you don't rebuild the bottom end the main bearings are warn out and I'm sure the crank needs replaced i could tell by the sound of it last time it was running the whole problem was most likely caused by a piece of the rod bearing on the big end coming apart and hitting the piston
The cage around the main bearing the pop rivets that hold it together one or more of them have came out. I can almost guarantee you the person to put the motor back together use the Koya 7 ball bearing it's made in China. Honda run 8 ball bearings. And yes the rod is shot so when he starts the bike back up it has up and down play the motor should not idle properly I have a crank here got the rod bearing went out in it it did the same thing. I've done about 30 of these motors I've seen it all.
I believe 1997 to 2001 came with a flat top piston which has dual rings. So before you put that pissing in that motor you better do your research buddy that's the wrong piston
2 vintage why wont you swap ur cylinder from ur current cr to the one ur selling and use all the new parts on your main bike so u could have a brandnew top end on that
Im sure your tired of hearing it but you did ask for advise an the people telling you to crack the cases to check that bottom end are 100 percent correct. I know because iv made the mistake of doing what you are about to do. As someone stated below when ever a piston comes up an smackes the head the crack should be inspected period. Im not trying to come off like a douche or act like i know it all i mean the bike could run mint you never know but i wouldn't run that chance after paying to have the top end completely redone.. Might want to put that jug on your bike an swap yours out since your selling it.
Well said bro a wished he would take advice instead of been greedy an just be in it for the money, soon enough gonna have a garage of nackered 80,90,crossers with no clue of how to fix them if he took advice an got hishands dirty he,ll go far. atm hes buyin nackers i buy nackers but restore them after runing it an checking gears for 2 mins max not thrasing a 20 to 30 year old crosser up a main road lol he cant even drive them properly anyways
@@2strokemxclassicslol i hear ya bro im not trying to dog him out about it but i did things the wrong way for years..influenced by friends who didn't even own a torque wrench. Also not taking advice or knowledge from other people who actually know this stuff like the back of their hand. It costed me 2 motors... After those costly breaks i was all done playing around. I mean having that top-end redone is the most expensive thing to do. For 250-300.max you can have that crank rebuilt, throw new bearings seals gaskets and all the use once or replace when you open Crush washers, gungeon pins Etc.. Oem stuff to..always oem for the most part.

Don't ride it like that. Might as well split the cases and re-do the bottom end, which will only cost you like $250 and that way you'll know you're engine will be reliable. And there's probably a piece of piston or ring or something stuck down the bottom end.
As soon as i saw you sitting in the parking lot with the box my anxiety was telling me to tell you to open it up before you left...nothing bugs me more than making two trips!! Shits looking good though all the same...
I remember when I rebuilt my rm85 it was a blown pump & the bike did not have hardly any gaskets there was coolant in the motor piston was half shot so I just rebuilt it ground up & big bore it all new everything on motor & bike after I was down it was a mean bike
Some places exchange old for remanufactured. Studs and power valve seals are Removed and Not included. Flush bottom end with gas many times. Make sure the rings are part number up or slanting side up 📐. Yes it usually is slanted. Depending on brand model....
All that for nothing that thing needs rod bearings more than anything that why it was piston slapping and that's why he said he's gonna sell it asap which I don't blame him but if your gonna do a job do it right or not at all
That nice new cylinder will be shot the second its fired up please rebuild the bottom end first mate or you would have wasted all that money please listen to everybody
Just make sure it lube the cylinder and piston before installing the cylinder and make sure everything's torqued and tight. Give it 3 good heat cycles and take it easy for a bit and you'll be good. those cr250s are really reliable. I owned a 2001 cr250 that thing started first kick every time
Deegan M yeah, I've got the same bike, its a tough warhorse, I trail ride & it is always dependable; a little vibration -y but Honda bikes are tough tough tough!
you are all stupid, there is no way he was moving the piston fast enough, or with enough force to cause any damage to the piston or the cylinder. The 2 reasons why cylinders are plated in nikasil are 1. nikasil is so hard that you can make an aluminum cylinder last as long or longer than a iron cylinder. 2. the nikasil creates far less friction on moving parts than plain aluminum or iron. Also an engine with no oil will run for a lot longer, and at a much higher RPM than you think it would, there are plenty of videos of this on youtube proving this if you don't believe me.
TheKtm300rider first of all idk where you’re getting your information because nobody has ever used a steel cylinder it’s either iron or aluminum . And you can put scratches on it just by moving it that why you’re supposed to put oil in the cylinder so you don’t mess it up
Nice video dude! 👌We did a top end rebuild on a 70cc Suzuki moped, we went for a brand new Eurokit and installed it. Unfortunately it clapped after 15-20 minutes of riding😂😅 It definetly had enough oil in the fuel. We did not gave too much throttle since it needed some heat cycles, but the piston rings clapped end scratched the new cilinder (and piston) a little bit and flew out of the exhoust port into the 2 stroke pipe😂 Any suggestions why it died this fast?
so in your install video you say with cylinder tab is to long on one side and you had to file it down it make it sit flat. Us chrome didnt do anything to change the lengths of them. So how do you explain your need to file it.
@@nicovanduin1553 cos anything involving more than a sparkplug an a carb clean they cant fix, if there buying nacker crossers they should know they need rebuilds yet they expect them to run like a bran new bike
