No that doesn't make sense. Pleasant warned Kelly and after that the Scammer still insisted on the money and wanted to send more information to Pleasant. If Kelly was in on it he would have just told the Scammer that he is getting baited by pleasant but clearly he didn't because he himself started to Bait the Scammer. The first theory Pleasant put up at the end seems to be what is most likely. At no point did Kelly anything to "rat" Pleasant out

Same as my daughter, who was a freshman at a college looking for a job on campus. Thanks GOD! She gave me the check to deposit and so I asked her what did you do to get this much money ($4.5K). She said just being someone personal assistant for a few hours and an easy browsing the net. I know right away that this check is a scam. I told her to block the phone# and email, and never answer to that # again. Life lesson learn... when you feel that thing is being offered to you is too good to be true, it is most likely something wrong about it, in this case it is a scam.

I looked into it a bit more and it was pretty obvious it was a scam, so I did a fake interview with them and answered their questions in pretty ridiculous ways, causing them to act 'tough' and ask questions like "Is this an appropriate answer in an interview??', etc. They had terrible grammar, similar to the scammers you deal with.

I was recently in a class at the local college. The kids I was in class with were unlikely to fall for this, but then it was a computer security course🤣🤣🤣 And, the internships were orchestrated by a professor that knew you, often in person.
Nevertheless, I understand your point. My Dad who had built and troubleshooted computers as I hobby p, and who had to deal with calling Microsoft to install some OEM software, did fall for one of the Microsoft calls. He was about 96 at the time and actually fairly security savvy. When he suspected this was a scam he called Microsoft who worked to try to trap the guy and restore what had been damaged. I found out in the middle of the mess because he asked me what else he needed to do -- like freeze its accounts. Unfortunately I had to tell him he had to change all his passwords 3 double column 4-line entries. He did those from a different device. What a mess. He did call the credit card immediately, before calling me, and they trapped the charge.

The reason why they hate the world of reality because just about each time you turn on the news, there are always reports of violent crime such as shootings. If we tell the scammers that their tiny little world is about to be scrapped, we are automatically guilty of bullying. To me, it would serve them right for all the nonsense they have caused.

One stating "This is the last time we will notify you that we will stop processing incoming emails in your school account, and the reason is you failed to verify your Microsoft account which may lead to the permanent deletion of your account from our database" and another for a Job position at the school. Luckily, I told the director of the school who sent it to the IT department.

@@B.H.56: that’s exactly right. I am a senior citizen and through many years of experience and knowledge gained I can recognize the telltale signs of a scam. But when I was a college student long ago I can see how I could have been fooled by some smooth talking fraudster, especially one promising easy money when I didn’t have much and was making $2.25/hour at a part time campus job.

When I was applying for jobs, there was an ad for a well-known travel agency. It was during lockdown so it was work from home and I was immediately 'accepted'. All of the correspondance came from (company) but at a yahoo address so I knew I wasn't dealing with the same company (who I let know immediately that they were using their name and logo). They had zoom 'interviews' so I signed on and the 'interview' was just a presentation of people in nice clothes and perfect teeth and clips with current employees saying how great it was to work there with phrases like "we're more like a family than a job" and "I paid back all my student loans with my commissions" etc. but they didn't ever say what the job is. Just that I could work there and I, too, could have nice jackets and perfect teeth - and an all expenses paid company holiday somewhere exotic. I only watched about 10 minutes. Then I got an email "We noticed you didn't watch all of the video". I said "you didn't say what the job is." so they stopped. I DID...however get them to stop using the travel agent's name and logo though.

I had a written “interview” through Microsoft Teams, and then I had a second interview over the phone with a guy with a strong Indian accent. I think either Kelly recognised you or recognised the fact that he was talking to a scam baiter or the actual authorities. He has no reason to protect the Nigerian scammer which is why he didn’t tell him you had texted him, but pretended to “playfully scam this guy too”.
Also scammers have ti attempt several times before they actually get someone to send them money. There is NO way the scammer would send his “hard earned” 900 bucks to some stranger?
“I don’t want people to hear my voice” - he knew this was likely going on social media
“Once someone sent me money before so I sent it back” - you’re meant to report it to the app that you received a huge sum from a stranger, not send it back straight away
Also funny how he quickly agreed to join you on your mission and was so active in scamming the scammer:.. most people would’ve answered your call, spoken to you and dropped it there and then
But you knew that, which is why you said there’s a 3rd reason 😉
