I would honestly recommend anyone playing this game to go into the Gameplay options and turn "Mission Stories" to "Minimal" - this way there is a lot less hand-holding. It gets even more complex if you don't Track objectives, so you need to figure out how to do everything on your own (but scrolling through the optional Challenges can give you plenty of hints).

What I found important in the first game was to turn off the hints like for the "missions" you mention. This way you have to actually pay attention, think and find things - it feels a lot more natural than getting all the info in your menus and having on the map where to go and what to do.

This game is way more fun if you turn off all the hand holding and wallhack abilities, you actually have to look for clues around the map and use your collected intel to figure out the best way to do the hits. A major problem I had with Blood Money was that generally there was only one way the game wants you to complete missions and if you tried to do something different the game either punished you or flat out didn't let you. In this game the devs have pretty much thought of every possible way you would want to kill your target and fully allows you do do that. If Hitman 2016 was Blood Money but turned up to 11, Hitman 2 is Hitman 2016 turned up to 11. Almost everything has been improved, bigger maps, more elaborate and interesting kills. Only bad thing is the story, it's completely nonsensical and impossible to follow. What the hell is Providence and why do they never explain it? And why does the Shadow Client want to kill them? Is the Shadow Client supposed to be a good guy or a bad guy? It's really bad and I just started skipping the story cinematics halfway through the game, it's not worth trying to figure out what the hell is supposed to be going on in this game's story. But nobody is here for the story, we're here to drown supermodels in toilets, and that's what Hitman 2 does best.
I had the same problem on the older Hitman games on the xbox 360. you could be totally alone in the middle of nowhere, and silently choke a target to death...lo and behold the guards somehow know you did it
The cons of this game from my perspective is that it's a bit short, there could be 1 more mission in there. The cutscenes are still images instead of high quality cgi and it is stuttery here and there. Apart from that, I think it's a really well executed game with brillant graphics and a pretty fluid combat system overall. I prefer playing it with a controller as I do with most 3rd person games out there. One thing for ya Mack, I agree on the "I don't want to be told how to play" thing you're talking about. The red letters saying "Non target killed" is purely unnecessary as you fucking well know you're popping heads for the laugh of it. I miss the old newspaper function after each mission from Blood Money, where you'd get a detailed description if you were a Professional or a Mass Murdering maniac. One more thing: how the hell could you hate on the last mission? If you played it right, you could get in a proper Knights Armor suit with a long sword and slay 20 people rushing towards you, because the armor actually boosted your overall tolerance for getting hit by bullets.
It's like 47 having been forced onto a brightly lit and sterile movie set... it's just weird that they would take this stylistic detour. Totally agree... noir is where it's at. Mack, when playing Hitman 3, try and do some featured contracts. For me, they are the GOLD in this new Hitman series. They are the challenge in this game, especially if you aim to get all objectives done as stated in the contract (even though most of them are optional) AND do it the silent way to get the SILENT ASSASSIN. This is where you actually have to plan ahead, be careful, and finally get the "Ohh, yeahhh" feeling. Getting challenges done to tick a box gets boring. hey Mack, after more the 1 year 7 days to die is now getting another update. currently its on the experimental beta stage that you can reach in your steam propertys. The game seems to be way better optimized but also alot more streamlined. alot of things got added and alot was cut, its basicly a new game. But it still doesnt look like the game gets launched soon. you can think of this what you want for me its just a reason to play the game for a few more hours.
Hi Mack, just a heads up if you haven't updated your driver yet, The latest Nvidia driver has Hitman 2 optimisations and this fixed the long stutters/pauses I had when traversing the levels. I assume this is what you meant by freezes in the game. Great review, thumbs up from me,
Yep, I was just about to play Hitman 2 on steam and looking through the store page I come to find out that you have to buy something called "Hitman 2 GOTY legacy pack" to get all of the content from Season 1 for $20. I bought the Gold Edition on Green man gaming a while back for $16 thinking I would get not only the entire HM2 game but also the all of the content from HM1 because everywhere I read said that the developers put in all the missions from HM1 into HM2.
I wish they went for the more darker atmosphere they had in the older games (even absolution had it) and got away from the spy crap, I mean it's a game about a failed experiment and a complete emotionless killer, the darker atmosphere fit it a lot better

Hey Mack, please do a video about Underworld Ascendant. It has a clear role model in Ultima Underworld and has the potential to be an interesting game.
Mack! Lots of issues got now patched, and it looks (comming from official forums) lot more gonna get patched. The cutscenes were not animated, cause square enix did not earn all money on the planet with HITMAN so they booted IO interactive. They managed to keep the rights and so what was suppose to be season 2 is now HITMAN2 while budget cuts and other complications resulted in things like slideshow cutscenes, instead of fully rendered. Not that it would excuse the dumb story =D Those telepatically connected guards to the target appear to be bug aswell, we'll see

Mack you can turn of the story mission HUD in Settings> Gameplay..
The only reviews I still bother watching💯👌keep it up Mack
❤️🇿🇦
This shouldve been review for hitman 2016 too, cuz they are identical games just new maps and coop added ...annyways finally agree with you.Great game.
Mack never reviewed the Full game for Hitman though. Just the first episode
hey Mack, after more the 1 year 7 days to die is now getting another update. currently its on the experimental beta stage that you can reach in your steam propertys. The game seems to be way better optimized but also alot more streamlined. alot of things got added and alot was cut, its basicly a new game. But it still doesnt look like the game gets launched soon. you can think of this what you want for me its just a reason to play the game for a few more hours.
I miss the Mardi Gras mission in blood money
Hi Mack, just a heads up if you haven't updated your driver yet,
The latest Nvidia driver has Hitman 2 optimisations and this fixed the long stutters/pauses I had when traversing the levels.
I assume this is what you meant by freezes in the game.
Great review, thumbs up from me,
4:41 ... and in the background generation head down, unaware of everything.
This was my fastest click ever...
This is on sale for $14 on PSN store and $24 for Gold Edition. Worth a buy in 2019?
I love how brutal you are with your reviews
No you do NOT get any mission from from Hitman 1 in Hitman 2, only the prologue. You have to buy both games to play both.
For me it is worth a buy! But my main problem is that there's has been a little downgrade
DOWNGRADE? WHERE? MORE NPCS + MUCH BIGGER MAPS + BETTER LIGHTNING/WATER EFFECTS!!!
I’m loving this game so far!
I wish they went for the more darker atmosphere they had in the older games (even absolution had it) and got away from the spy crap, I mean it's a game about a failed experiment and a complete emotionless killer, the darker atmosphere fit it a lot better
A trained assassin wouldn’t hold his pistol like that. Drives me crazy.
You should review Age of Civilizations 2, it's a $5 game made by one guy, I liked the original for my phone a while back, but the new one is on steam with a ton of improvements it seems
so a single white man doesn't stand out from the rest of the crowd? lol
andy lai And he would be about 10 inches taller that everyone else at least. Don’t worry I’m not making fun of shOrt people I am short me self
If you listen the people in India you can hear a lot of Apus and Manjulas there :D
Hey Mack, please do a video about Underworld Ascendant. It has a clear role model in Ultima Underworld and has the potential to be an interesting game.
I'm from India. I didn't bought Hitman. But, I think I'll get this later some time.
Not that it would excuse the dumb story =D Those telepatically connected guards to the target appear to be bug aswell, we'll see
Turn off instinct mode and mission story assists and its brilliant.
So you get hitman 1 and 2 in this game that’s sick
Cool. Good honest review. Love ya Mack.
You can walk slowly with CTRL (actually I'm not sure if it's CTRL, it's probably ALT or Caps lock but I can't remember) btw Mack :) I saw you were trying to follow someone but kept walking in small bits.
