- Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers played the Bridge School Benefit shows a few times throughout their career, and luckily soundboard audio of the 1989 show survives. This show is notable not only because of the live premier of "Alright for Now" but also because it is the only time they covered the Flying Burrito Brothers' "Sin City." Hits such as "I Won't Back Down," "Free Fallin'" and "Even the Losers" can be found here as well as a cover of the Thunderclap Newman song "Something in the Air," which would appear on the band's 'Greatest Hits' (1993) album a few years later. Enjoy!

Something so deep - goood job ❤️😎🇺🇸
We still need these Proshot/Soundboard Bridge School Benefit shows of Petty:
October 1, 1994
October 28, 2000
October 29, 2000
why?
There's a Pro-shot recording of this show, I kid you not
It's always fun to hear Tom do covers, but it also points out just how good a songwriter he was -- his songs are always the best ones in a set. (I'll make an exception for Johnny Cash; different benefit concert, plug.)
