My friend, i think you isntaled it backwards, the lose tab it has at the outer end needs to be up, and it was instaled down, that changes how the filter performs.

No you dont.You can remove it from the bottom of the compartment

Change every 3-6 months.😂. I didn't know until recently that it was different than the engine air filter. Never changed in over a decade.
