Seems a lot of people where creeped out by this growing up. I actually really loved that weird groaning voice. It made me thing of rock and lava, and added a whole new atmosphere to the ost altogether.
Sounds kind of like someone going "Oh no", whilst groaning in disgust over something they ate. And I don't now if that's a mental image that makes me laugh or just wierded out.
I actually thought it was an enemy making the noise and I would spend so much time trying to find where it was coming from. My little kid brain finally realized it was just part of the music lol.

I kept thinking the growling was one of those Earthshapers I hadn't killed yet. It was only when I turned the SFX volume down to zero that I realized it was part of the music!
I love this. The classic progressive rock they did was so good they ran out of ideas, so in Spyro 3 they switched to pop, then in no. for it became more complex pop. A Hero's Tail is back to regular children's pop and the next two I just don't know. I will always love Spyro's fantastic Genesis-style rock. One of my personal favourites. When I figured out that any Crash Team Racing disc had a cheat code to play this level and Colossus, ( Hold L1 and R1 on menu screen and type SOAR, down, circle, triangle, right) I was like "How could such a PS1 disc could contain that many data?!" The page of the promoting book saying "On shelves November 1999" had me feel nostalgic, despite I was just a baby at this point and the only Spyro game I had was the 3rd one.
I always heard "I'm not hungry... but YOU are FINE~" I can't listen to that without thinking that now XD this level used to scare me when I was younger, I don't know why.
I always hated this level, not because of the content of the level itself - I was always indifferent to the Crystal Popcorn challenge - but the NPCs! The groans made this song so creepy as a kid. I swear it sounded like one of the monsters creating it. Nice touch to the overall feel of the level though.
@silly3200 I enjoyed the Crystal Minigame as well. For some reason, it reminds me of the Mr. Vile challenges in Banjo Kazooie on the N64. Where you had to race to eat these worm things coming out of the ground. The room reminded me of the Ice cave in this level.
I always thought the random voice was going "OHHH NOOOO" lol so like from that day on if something happened in my life that was unfortunate (non serious, more like a stupid problem) then I would just go "OHHHH NOOOO" Hahaha love Spyro.

I feel for me, for Spyro 2, it was fracture hills. I could not charge through the whole course to save my life. I remember struggling with that part for so long as a kid. Once I got Tree Tops down, it became one of the easier levels for me.
For me there was this second challenge in Skelos Badlands with those guys you have to save. I actually loved Hunter's challenge, it was tense but cool.

The little twists in all the side stories. Also the voice in this track is legendary.
Turned out there were just a bunch of smaller monsters there instead.

Hunter and his challenges. I remember the one in this level made me wonder "You are on my side, aren't you?"

The first 4 or 5 times I played this level, I kept looking around for Earthshapers every time I heard that
Lmao same
The ending of this level was brutal!
🥳
The most performed song on Earthshaper's Got Talent!

He’s an asshole for that

this level was such a pain in the ass when I was a kid, I remember the intense moments climbing up that volcano :D

My moment was collecting those popcorn crystals before hunter. That was the hardest bonus round in the game!
Seriously, does that noise freak anyone else out a bit?
Always has I couldn't play this level because of it
Somehow or another, The Volcano climb reminded me of God of War & this game was made 6 years before God of War started.
Two fauns relaxing. All of a sudden a large lava rock falls on one.
And the other one didn't give a f*ck XD
Seems like there ought to be comparatively few male fauns reaching adulthood.
Really couldn't feel bad for those fauns, think there was a reason they were living there...
Like they were exiled from Fracture Hills for being diccs

I wanted to shove Hunter into that volcano.
But anyway, the weird voice in the background used to creep me out so much...
I used to think it was the Earthshapers chanting.
