Just a little insight from a former EMT: Those ceiling grab bars were to avoid falling on your patient on curvy roads, while speeding to the nearest emergency room with a code red. Your shower compartment was probably used for oxygen tanks: the inside door for the safety of the occupants and the outside door to change out the tanks (those suckers are heavy). All those outside compartments had a purpose: a backpack style jump kit for care outside the vehicle, chocks and blocks, road safety items, etc.
Anyway, you've done a very fine job of making a high end utility vehicle into a home. I especially like the ceiling! Nice job.
Thanks for the tour. Travel on.

You are the second video I watched today that keeps conversion simple and low cost, and I would like to tell you as well thank you. You also showed that you don't have to do a complete gut with rebuild. To me that's a waste of not using what the ambulance already has. In my opinion if you do a gut rebuild then just buy a RV it would be cheaper in the long run. Love it. Thank you for sharing.

    • @reidcrosby6241

Unless your buying it for the safety factor in an accident. RVs SUCK for that and I would never put my family in one for that reason. I used to travel US, Canada, Mex for 5 years with a teen camp ...seen TOO many RVs strewn across 1/8 mile of "debris field" ..looks like a plane crash. Ask high patrolman or wrecker operators.... it takes a LOT to clean up the mess.

Thanks for giving a tour of your space--it's neat to see the similarities between another 2001 Horton ambulance and mine, which is /fairly/ similar but not identical (obviously it was built for a different emergency service department than mine)! How is the insulation in an ambulance? Also, I’m not sure why but I feel like I will feel safer in an ambulance. Safer from a break in-it’s built to prevent that and windows from the back are not made for easily climbing in. Also I believe all compartments auto lock when the doors are locked so you don’t have to go out to lock and check things. Am I ridiculous for thinking that?

    • @danielleandgunnar

I have noticed that many vehicle dwellers, RV, campers, car lifestylers, have a Safety concern about people approaching their vehicles when they are sleeping, or just inside of their vehicle.
To assist with your Awareness for your vehicle,
There may Be the option to utilize and install a camera system outside of your vehicle.
    How to Do this...
There are RV backup camera systems available including online including Amazon
Some systems include 1 or multiple cameras in a set, about 4 and may include a visual display monitor.
Some of these Backup camera systems include
this separate video display monitor, to view all of the installed cameras, and some of these monitors include various multiple functions, including a recording features, dvr type functions and touch screen display, among other functions.
Your cameras can Be utilized to view around your entire vehicle, including front, rear and sides.
The cost I have seen has been around low 2 hundred and mid 3 hundreds, prices may vary.
I have actually seen this shown online where the system was installed and a entire 360 degree view was available on a RV.
Please Do your own research on the Best options for you.
Hope this information may Be Helpful.
God’s Blessings to you, and your viewing audience.

@@danielleandgunnar That is it? 4.3 cu ft? My shuttle bus (23' long bumper to bumper) has 4.4 cu ft fridge AND 5.0 cu ft deep freezer. 100% agree with you, love having unlimited ice and ice cream, and frozen veggies keep way longer than fresh veggies, so I can boondock a lot longer. And I jave 4x320 solar panels (1289-watts) on top of my van to power all that stuff. Love that ambulances are already built to live in with just a minor addition of a table and bed.

E 450 not F. Better get to know your rig - not only for producing SM content but to maintain it. The "hour long videos" you're referring to are the best out there; those videos are the true YT videos where they're looking to help others and not only to get clicks. Good luck anyway. PS: I do have one exactly like yours.
