I love this version so much. Marko is a straight up beast here. I love the grit and growl and how he makes The Phantom sound like a villain….which he really is. Oof…can’t get enough.
Tarja's vibe with Nightwish was so * chef's kiss * dark queen of symphonic metal. If you wanna see more of her these two are essential: *Wishmaster - End of an Era* and *The Siren - End of an Era* both are peak Nightwish Era Tarja 🌷❣
I listen to Nightwish almost since they exist. There is less than a handful of songs I will skip on an album. I have songs I prefer Tarja to sing, songs Anette does best, and songs Floor hits out of the park. So yes, I'm going for all three. And I am going for Marko! This performance, for me, is even more about Marko than Tarja. I would have loved a Floor/Marko version so much.. So, if someone asks who's the best vocalist of Nightwish, the save answer is: Marko 🤘🏻🖤
You can't compare the gothic sorceress Tarja to the warrior princess Floor. They are completely different people, moreover, they are friends. Enjoy both. My favorite is Tarja because I grew up with her voice and I love its color and her operatic and theatrical style and elegance. And now in her solo career I love her more than when she was in NW. And I really appreciate Floor and I'm not surprised that new Nightwish fans who hear her first fall in love with her.
That's it. As someone who was introduced to Nightwish in 2005, I do have a bias to Tarja in some songs, but Floor also revitalized some of the older ones too. You just have to enjoy both, and be happy lol.
@@DenisBeloI got introduced in 97. I've liked Nightwish since century child, first three albums weren't my cup of tea, Stratovarius-rip off with opera vocals was my opinion. Each lineup has it's moments, best albums were with Anette, Floor is best vocalist and few of their best songs were with Tarja
Out of the 2 versions I enjoy this one the most. They're both incredible but I just get so hype when I listen to this one. Tarja and Marko play off each other, contrast, each other, and harmonise with each other so well that it kills me, and the overall performance from the entire band feels just that little bit tighter, punchier, and more energetic.
Yes and equally i would like Henk and Tarja together since their (more) classical style would probably fit like a glove. The Marco+Floor version could still be happening with Marco as a guest on a concert in Finland. He always stated he hated the traveling so who knows ?
Tarja is the singer I fell in love with 20 years ago. Anette is the singer on my favourite Nightwish album. Floor is just a beast and amazing all round singer. Love all of them
What sets this apart from every other rendition of Phantom you've ever heard..... is Marko!!! He is what the Phantom always SHOULD have been. He's fkg phenomenal in this. Tuomas' arrangement of course is world class.
Tarja has always been and will always be my number #1 godess, noone will ever take her place, and I believe that without Tarja the band Nightwisah would not exist in the form we all know and love today! Hell Tarja and Nightwish were among THE absolute pioneers of female fronted symphonic metal But I do recognize that Floor is also an absolutely phenomenal singer and performer, and she's much more versatile with her vocals, hell, she even does a bit of growling, something Im pretty sure Tarja has never or would ever even attempt! Would love to see you react to some of Tarjs post-Nightwish solo material, for example Supremacy (live from Milan), I walk alone, Demons in you (ft Alissa White-Gluz from Arch Enemy), Until my Last Breath, Dark Star etc etc....
Being one of the OG fans who has been listening to nightwish sience 1999, my heart will always belong to Tarja. I have liked all three of the lead singers in there own style. And when it comes to Phantom of the opera, Tarja's version is best hands down IMO.
I don't know what her vocal training consisted of before joining nightwish, but Tarja's particular vocal style, especially early on in Nightwish, was so vastly different from either Anette or Floor, she made that era of Nightwish uniquely her own and her contributions should be respected all around. The song Ghost Love Score is 20 years old next year and was on their album 'Once' in 2004, during the Tarja era
Love your reaction to this, its exactly how I felt the first time I saw/heard this. Nightwish has been blessed with some amazing singers and yes I count Marko among them.
Another beautiful reaction - and as has been said, there's no need to compare, both singers and versions can stand on their own merits...much love to them both! (And Annette too!!)
Tarja era was awesome too. I have listen to them back then when I was around 16 and I absolutely loved them! If you would like to hear some songs which I would recommend then go for "Bless the child", "End of all hope", "Over the hills and far away" - those were my favourites. Listen to the album versions if you want - I did back then... there wasn't really much of life shows on the internet :D
I'm finnish and "Tar ya" is pretty close, of course if you really wanted to say it right you would have to roll that R fiercely. For the longest time after Tarja left I thought that Nightwish couldn't be Nightwish without her, but Floor has grown on me, both are exceptional singers... I still love the old albums more, especially "Century Child" and "Once".
I think she did it quite well in the end of the video. But: in Finnish weight is on the first syllable, not second, like in English. You can just go all in with the TAR part and rolling R and it's going to be perfect. I've never heard an English speaker make the R _too_ rough. (Finnish is a language you can speak clearly even if you've been outside in -20C the whole day and your whole face is all stiff from the cold. All consonants are a bit hard and rough.)
This was my first intro to NW back in the day. I love this version in every way! Can't compare the 2. I love the beginning of Floor's live at the concert. But I Love Marko as the Phantom. Yep they both have greatness. NW as a whole just knows how to do live.
So stoked to see you do this one. Made my day! Thank you! If you're looking for more great Tarja, check out The Siren from this same tour/concert. You'll love it! Very gothic.
if you really want hard dark spell-binding Tarja (and Marko too) with Nightwish: (even some Tarja rocking on invisible guitar, doing head-hair windmills, and etc theatrics too) (remember, the concerts/albums/covers must be before 2006, for Tarja's performances) (not ranked, just listed) 1. Slaying the Dreamer 2. Planet Hell 3. Wishmaster 4. Kinslayer 5. Ghost Love Score 6. The Siren 7. End of All Hope 8. Dead to the World 9. 10th Man Down -------------------- Nightwish's 3 singers: 1. End of an Era (her last concert with nightwish, hard to find good quality and the entire concert, as it gets taken down) 2. Phantom of the Opera (her duet with Marco, really good, both of them together, this song was actually used in the Phantom of the Opera remake movie in 2004) 3. Wishmaster 4. Planet Hell (marco sings in this song as well) 5. End of All Hope 6. Dead Boy's Poem 7. Nemo (watch the official music video and also her live performance of it) 8. I've been listening to Nightwish for 20 years now, I was a die hard Tarja fan... I still am. I feel like they both embody Nightwish for their respective time in the band. They're both insanely talented!
Floor is my favorite singer all time but Tarja is a legend and some songs are just better with her. Nothing wrong with that at all. I also prefer Anette on most songs from the two albums she was lead vocalist. For many years there were wars among the fans when it comes to Nightwish singers and I guess it is still a thing sometimes. I've always loved all three and feel is best to accept each of them for the dfferent qualities they bring to a song. Whenever you are looking to do more videos from this concert (End of an Era), I recommend Wishmaster, Nemo, Sleeping Sun and High Hopes. High Hopes will give you Marko on lead vocal, who some will say is the best Nightwish singer 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Floor has my 🖤. Seen her with Nightwish 4 times (travelled to Montreal for shows). I was only intro’ed to Nightwish after she joined the band though. But I love Tarja too, Nightwish and solo, actually saw her perform live for the first time in 2023, travelled to Boston and she was phenomenal. Both Floor and Tarja are also such lovely people.
My second metal show ever was Nightwish in 2000, and I was already a big fan, they blew me away live, but it was a small venue, nowadays they go big with the theatrics on stage, they are amazing!!! great video I totally get you!
Great reaction! No need to decide. You can love and appreciate both singers and performances. IMO Marko totally steals the show here. I like Tarja but I think there are other songs that better showcase her beautiful dark operatic voice. Songs like The Siren, Planet Hell, Nemo, Sleeping Sun. For me my favorite performance is from Beste Zangers where they took the Nightwish arrangement, changed it up to make it more musical theater and Floor is singing in that less rounded brighter musical theater sound. She also is painting more emotions with her voice in that performance and I like her more straight tone voice in the final section versus Tarja's wider more operatic vibrato. This is my second favorite performance, mainly for Masrko's gritty dark Phantom and those amazing high belts and screams. Then the Nightwish performance from Amsterdam with Floor's amazing sustained belt at the end. Totally get preferring portions of each performance and I love them all.
Hi Ash, greetings from UK Comparing Nightwish performances, it is like comparing girls/ladies, all are so beautiful in their own way, like flowers in a garden 😊
I think you can choose! Overall, my favorite singer is Floor because of her versatility, but some songs belong to Tarja and some tō Anette. This song is definitely Tarja!
NGL I literally watched your face the entire performance and seeing your reactions to certain parts was absolutely priceless! I really love both singers because they put their own spin of the same thing! Love it!
Hello, I just subscribed to your channel and I think that version of Nightwish is incredible, but what I find even more incredible is your style, it's incredible and I hope you keep uploading more videos. Greetings from Peru!!❤
Floor and Tarja are actually pretty good friends! Floor joined Tarja on stage a while back to sing a cover of Over the Hills and Far Away by Gary Moore (also covered by Nightwish when Tarja was in the band, back in 2001). it's worth checking out!
This Video is awesome Ash Happy Friday hope you're doing well My friend sending much love your way Your hair and black lipstick looks phenomenal love you 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤
This was the first moment I ever heard of Nightwish back when this DVD was first released - I had tickets booked for the Phantom on stage at the Venetian in Las Vegas and I wanted to hear music from the play and this video on You Tube changed my musical future - what was sad was I found Nightwish only to learn that this was Tarja's last day with the band and she was fired later that night via a letter signed by the band
I love both Singers for me its down to the Song itself, I mean Wishmaster or She is my Sin certianly Tarja, but others Floor but in reality it doesn't matter who you prefer. Ps. I love your outfit.
Nightwish has had tree world class singers. They have put their soul into the band and left marks so deep that they are three distinct eras of the band. The two versions of POTO are both stellar and Tarja can match Floor in classical signing. Marco is also doing a wonderful job at being the phantom and it would be cool is there ever will be a phantom with his type of voice. My only grievance I have with this version is that Marco keeps screaming until the very end. In my opinion this is Christines time to shine. I feel it is vital to the song that she gets that moment to soar free with that high note. Otherwise the song looses a bit of its soul. So my favorite is their cover from the Amsterdam show, but that is also due to the fact that I was actually there. 🙂
I love both, and depending on my mood I might choose to listen to either...but if I could only keep one I'd have to go with this version. Happily I'm not in that situation!
Someone said it perfectly, Floor is a WARRIOR PRINCESS And Tarja is a GODDESS!!
I love this version so much. Marko is a straight up beast here. I love the grit and growl and how he makes The Phantom sound like a villain….which he really is. Oof…can’t get enough.
No need to compare both versions, just enjoy them! 😄 They're both wonderful in their own way.
I agreeeeee❤️ thank you
I couldn't agree more. Comparisons aren't the point of music.
Well said, both versions are beautiful in their own way.
Sorry, but tarja is very incredible!!! ❤❤
hey Martine
Tarja and Floor both are phenomenal. It's an art, not a competition. Just enjoy all the eras of Nightwish.
but if it WAS a competition, tarja won 100% sure.
Tarja's vibe with Nightwish was so * chef's kiss * dark queen of symphonic metal. If you wanna see more of her these two are essential: *Wishmaster - End of an Era* and *The Siren - End of an Era* both are peak Nightwish Era Tarja 🌷❣

So stoked to see you do this one. Made my day! Thank you! If you're looking for more great Tarja, check out The Siren from this same tour/concert. You'll love it! Very gothic.
Thank you!!!
@@SlashleyReacts I concur "The Siren" is Marko and Tarja magic !! You'll really like it I think it's got a kinda sexy vibe idkk :D
Nightwish with Tarja or Floor always amazing. Nightwish have a new album out next year also !
For me ❤Tarja❤for me nightwish is Tarja❤if the most people like floor but for me is only Tarja.sorry my english.....
Facial goosebumps??!! The hairs on your face were standing up😂
I GUESS SO 🤣
That gasping-for-air laughter made me subscribe :)
I'd guess there will be more since I know what Nightwish does to people.
Ahhhh the one and only Tarja. This is amazing
It was!
This is the best version of Phantom by far
Just enjoy both of them for what they are. I love them both.
Legendary performance.
if you really want hard dark spell-binding Tarja (and Marko too) with Nightwish:
(even some Tarja rocking on invisible guitar, doing head-hair windmills, and etc theatrics too)
(remember, the concerts/albums/covers must be before 2006, for Tarja's performances)

4. Kinslayer
5. Ghost Love Score
6. The Siren
7. End of All Hope

Nightwish's 3 singers:
1. Tarja (original singer): 1995 to 2005
2. Annette: 2006 to 2012
3. Floor (current singer): 2013 to 2020+
everyone knows Floor, she's super popular with everyone, especially right now, and is a really good singer, having a huge variety of singing capability (pop, classical/opera, belting, growling/raspy), able to sing nightwish's old songs that were for Tarja's classical/opera singing, as well as new songs for her own variety/range of singing abilities
Unfortunately for Annette, she's a pop/rock singer, and a very good singer too, but her pop/rock singing just didn't go that well with nightwish's music, which was made for Tarja's dark classical/opera singing. So, usually, she gets left out.
so, it comes down to "Targasm” (Tarja) vs “Floorgasm” (Floor) in terms of the Nightwish singers in who you like most, if you like classical/opera singing better, Tarja is better at it, but that's all she does back when with nightwish, as nightwish was created for tarja's unique dark operatic singing/voice, (now with her own band, or solo, she does a greater range of singing), but she does it really well, she's really got a beautiful voice, if you like more pop singing, belting and growling/raspy, with or without classical/opera singing, than you like Floor better
I knew nightwish from the early 2000s, so Nightwish will always be with Tarja, but Nightwish with Floor is really good too, but it's Tarja, who's my favorite singer with nightwish
(many others will help you out with Floor's songs, so I'll just stick to Tarja's songs here)

if you do like Tarja with nightwish, here's some good ones:

3. Wishmaster
4. Planet Hell (marco sings in this song as well)
5. End of All Hope
6. Dead Boy's Poem
7. Nemo (watch the official music video and also her live performance of it)
8. Kinslayer

17. dark chest of wonders
18. bless the child

this is about the 'phantom of the opera' with tarja nightwish, but it applies to tarja for all other NW songs too:
Tarja has her own stage performance/presence, but the focus is on the entire band (much more respectful), unlike with floor, where the focus is almost entirely on her, and also, Phantom of the Opera isn't about that much showmanship, so you're not seeing more of Tarja's performance/presence (love how the camera work and Tarja worked together, with her ducking down, seeing Marcus as he delivered his singing, and then Tarja stands back up, seeing her face back in the camera as Marco's part ends and hers begins again, Tarja is really such a team player, as she could have had all the focus upon herself, like Floor gets, but instead she chooses to give the entire band the respect and focus that they too deserve, it's not all about Tarja, like it is with Floor, despite how good Tarja is and thus how she could be the entire focus with nightwish, as is Floor with nightwish)
there's other songs, where Tarja was way way way more stage performance/presence/showmanship, including hair windmills, rocking an invisible guitar along with empuu rocking his guitar, along with her doing her squatting too as she sings and taps her foot/leg to it, as she's swinging those hips too, along with her getting the crowd involved as well too, and etc stuff, you got to watch way more songs, to really see her amazing stage presence/performance and showmanship, as Phantom of the Opera is likely the one song with the least of that stuff, due to the nature of the song itself, being about their singing (contrasting and then cacophonous harmonous duet, nothing can compete with Tarja and Marco voices duet'ing), though Marco and Tarja had a bit of showmanship and fun snuck into it, with Marco pointing to his face and Tarja's facial expression reactions, while both song their parts

I also would add Slaying The Dreamer. I wish Annette’s version of Slaying had better sound. She does a great version, one of her best.
Love both Tarja and Floor, can't choose 🤘😉
Floor has my 🖤. Seen her with Nightwish 4 times (travelled to Montreal for shows). I was only intro’ed to Nightwish after she joined the band though. But I love Tarja too, Nightwish and solo, actually saw her perform live for the first time in 2023, travelled to Boston and she was phenomenal.
Both Floor and Tarja are also such lovely people.
The queen breaking glass!! Love Tarja ❤
I knew you would be deep diving! 😂
Fenomenal version, Marko is the one shining here in my opinion. Love your reactions btw. Can't wait for the next one from you.
you have witnessed perfection 😋
I think you may really like the NW albums "Oceanborn" and "Century Child" has some vampire romance setting.
Loved your reaction 🤩😻😻👍
Holy fluck indeed!
Hi Ash, greetings from UK
Comparing Nightwish performances, it is like comparing girls/ladies, all are so beautiful in their own way, like flowers in a garden 😊
girl wheezed so hard that it matched with Tarja. Gotta love it😂
I think you can choose! Overall, my favorite singer is Floor because of her versatility, but some songs belong to Tarja and some tō Anette. This song is definitely Tarja!
One of the best live vocalists you’ll ever see! Just subbed!
"Holy fuck" is exactly how I felt the first few dozen times I've heard this version.
NGL I literally watched your face the entire performance and seeing your reactions to certain parts was absolutely priceless! I really love both singers because they put their own spin of the same thing! Love it!
Absolutely!!! Thank you Rawberitto🔥
Different versions of the same song...equally pleasing. Great reaction!
Hello, I just subscribed to your channel and I think that version of Nightwish is incredible, but what I find even more incredible is your style, it's incredible and I hope you keep uploading more videos. Greetings from Peru!!❤
Floor and Tarja are actually pretty good friends! Floor joined Tarja on stage a while back to sing a cover of Over the Hills and Far Away by Gary Moore (also covered by Nightwish when Tarja was in the band, back in 2001). it's worth checking out!
you don't have to choose, both re equally awesome in their own way.
There's a song called Passion and the Opera where Tarja's operatic voice really comes in clutch.
No need to compare at all. They are really different and great. Let's just enjoy every performance and everything they have to bring to the table
You should check out "Nemo" from this same concert.
Great reaction, love it ❤ Did I hear a Tea pan boiling in the end 😂 7:18
🤣🤣🤣
There's no reason to choose, both are incredible and unless you're rocking a 2005 flip phone, both will fit on your playlist 😁
We have to be thankful for different "types" of Nightwish 🙏🙏🙏
Please do more Tarja's era songs. Pharaoh sails to Orion, is just phenomenal one ☺️
Love Floor and Tarja but Tarja and Marko own this version of Phantom.
Great to follow your journey and see the feelings Nightwish gives you. You have a long and wonderful path to go.❤
Thank you so much!
Metal band, opera singer, rock'in drumer. Tarja and floor, love both. I miss rock'in drumer 😢😢
NO need to compare!!! They are both awesome!
No, there is absolutely no need to choose, embrace both, for they both add unique and amazing things to Nightwish
I love both Singers for me its down to the Song itself, I mean Wishmaster or She is my Sin certianly Tarja, but others Floor but in reality it doesn't matter who you prefer.
Ps. I love your outfit.
Thank you!!
I've seen the musical a few times but this is my favourite version of this song 🤘
N0 0NE CAN BEAT THIS VERSI0N. PERI0D.
I think they are both great at there own style
the best moment 7:18
Marko and Tarja✨❤️🤘🏻
Holy fuck! I have seen this video countless times, but your reaction is priceless.
THANK YOU!
@@SlashleyReacts you’re welcome I’m glad i discovered your channel.
I like all the Nightwish singers but my favorite is definitely Floor Jansen as she is the one I first found Nightwish a few years ago ❤
can never go wrong with floor...ive been in love with her for years
