BABY WHALES & GROWING ECOTOURISM [Adventure

- Small fishing towns located in a place rich with natural beauty and wildlife are trying to make a change and develop an ecotourism industry. Here, in the waters off Mexico’s Pacific Baja coast, hundreds of Grey Whales come to give birth in the protect lagoons, raise their young and mate. With opportunities to make a better income taking tourists out than in the struggling fishing industry, many of the locals around Magdalena Bay have become tour guides. We talk with the locals and go out and visit the whales ourselves.

This is one of the best videos we have seen on UA-cam!!! Your Videos just hit the spot! Fantastic to see that commercial fishing is second place to Whale watching and Shark diving. To see those majestic, sencient, intelligent creatures interacting with us after we nearly hunted them to extinction is just amazing. Thank you. Its now on our bucket list !!! Ant & Cid x
Wonderful experience and a great sign that the people are learning how valuable the eco tourism is. I live in Cozumel and we did the same thing 25 years ago. Now the divers bring in 10X more money than the fishing ever did! I hope it continues to catch on and the whales don't mind the influx of people too much.
Love the drone shots of the whales. What a blast.
Best nature video ever. i felt like i could feel the whales spray on my face they are so beautiful.
I used to take people out to see the same migrating gray whales - up off the coast of Vancouver Island - back in the 80's and early 90's. They're not as friendly there - I guess they're on the move (north or south). By the late 90's Canada Fisheries got involved with regulations - no motoring within 100 meters of a whale . You'd have to get out in front , then shut down - and hope they swam past fairly close. It makes you think twice when they hang around and under your boat - they are huge. You brought back memories.
I love you guys videos ! There is a small story line in every one and your taking the time to explore all the individual places along the way is very educational. The addition of the drone footage is over the top !! Who would have ever thought that a beautiful Washington Woman (yes i am partial) who speakes Spanish, catches & cleans fish, and then cooks them would ever come on line to teach us about Mexico ? I am stoked !!! Thank you Ty & Hillary
WOW she came right up under your dingy, my wife would have died of sheer joy at an encounter like that.
One can't fathom the thought that one day they might not be here. Thanks for the tour!
Happy to share and let us hope that day never comes.
Their curiosity about us is as great as ours for them!
Y'all upload the best video's.. The whale information and the local info too, makes it great.. See y'all in the next one...
Cool video. You guys got so close, it's amazing. In Australia, there is a law that no vessels can be more than 50 metres closer to the whales - unless they swim towards you while you're just drifting and not motoring your boat into their path.
I hope the Chamber of Commerce appreciate your service
one of my favorite thing about this vlog is the casualness-- like the beginning when youare talking with your hat all jabbywakky
that was great ,another item for my bucket list, I think i need a bigger bucket Thanks
Epic drone footage! And man! Did your dingy look SMALL !
Great video! Love the whales! What an experience!
You guys produce great videos! Much appreciated.
Your video work is getting really good and your presentation is excellent. Outstanding video. Absolutely love the drone shots. Love the really mellow tone as well.
great show.... and information
Great video guys. Love this kind of thing.
AWESOME..just...AWESOME
WOWW!!! You've got such an amazing experience with whales.... I wish I was there...
I hope you guys get a trillion views !!!!
I am always impressed with the quality of the videos you produce.
NICE video!!!!! Will put that on my bucket list!! 2020 the year of the sail! Thank you for all of your videos!! They are awesome.
Sweet Alan, you will have an amazing time. Where are you leaving from?
I live in San Diego, Ca. My sailing dreams started when I was 10. After watching countless hours of sailing videos from Delos, Adventures Adrift, and others; I finally purchased my own sailboat. She is a 37' O' Day Center cockpit. She needs tons of work, but she will be ready soon. The plan is to take a year off in 2020 and sail for a year. I want to thank you for all of your efforts with all of your videos!! You inspire me to take the leap of faith. To get out there and do it. To explore. To live! So thank you!! Keep the videos coming!
Love your videos. Thx!
First a very good video and info.
I would crap my pants the first time I saw a whale that close to the boat haha
Super awesome guys as usual. Thanks and best from Gold Coast
Sweet, what a great adventure
Thank you. Very nice video. GOD bless. JC
Hi Guys!
Love your channel! Keep up the excellent work. I have a question for you. A couple of my buddies and I are purchasing a 33 footer in the next few weeks. Our home base will start with Vallarta and later we may move the boat to the sea of cortez. My question is, What marinas do you recommend that are inexpensive and worthwhile?
All the best!
Another great episode!
Nice!
San Carlos it's where I first saw and touched whales 15 years ago. Haven't been back ever since.
Being sprayed by a whale spout is a weird thing to check off the bucket list!
You added it right :)
Hey do you think one day we’ll have drones that are submersible + eco-friendly i.e. they can’t get eaten by Whales / Sharkys / Ruskkis & don’t need a permit etc?
That would be scary
Have you been sailing at night around the whales when they are all lighted up with phosphoresence ?
How long before the cruise ship start coming to see the whales and chartering the fishermen for tours . You’ll see the boats getting bigger
Hey as long as those big boats and ships aren't Japanese "Research Vessels" and they use smaller boats that don't intimidate the whales, why not. Key point is "As long as the whales are comfortable and protected"
It's joint ventures like this where whaling and shark fishing (pelagic) used to be a way of life, and turning to eco-tourism that slowly produces a win for all. This is the forefront of not just protecting whales, but also endangered shark species. Teaching people in real life the life cycle of these magnificent creatures creates a personal bond that should carry through their whole life. Look at the awe and joy on both Hillary's and Ty's faces with this experience.
This town and it's people are ramping up the efforts of people like the great "Jaque Cousteau" and instead of education by video, they are making it personal and more resonant with their customers.
As I said, if the whales are comfortable and protected ...
Could not agree more. Love to see the advantages of eco tourism.
No snorkeling with the wales? Is it not allowed?
It is allowed, you are not allowed to grab on to them and ride their fins which many people still do anyway.
Do you have to be concerned of whales flipping your boat? Do you ever swim with them?
cool video now the grays are they baleen whales ,i must say we (man kind )killed of so much of the guys and they still hold no hate for us ,dont know if they can hate any thing, its cool they dont shy away,, hey guys thank for this whales of a show..
They get way to close! They also allowed tourists to touch the whale, not a good idea. They should put a bit more distance between boats and whales and float only without outboards running. We cannot risk these great animals getting hurt.
Please try to help educate them. Maybe smaller boats like your dinghy is better and certainly fewer boats at a time without running engines might help.
