    That is a sweet looking SCR, that bright Yellow sets it off. It jumps pretty good, has good speed enen withnthe issue with 5he battery, Now the short run and jump at the end that thing was moving. Can't wait to see the second video on this machine. Take care and stay safe.

      @sparetimerc Hey Al, thanks for checking it out. It was Ramon's video at All Scale RC that put me on to the SCR Pro. Smithmaster really put a great looking shell on this truck. I always wanted the XCR but at the time it was only gas. Glad to see SCR Pro as an electric RTR.

    My guess is that the battery wasn't the problem...the Spektrum battery checker was the true cause. I purchased one a while back, and had nothing but problems with it. I should have returned it to Amain, but I never got around to creating an RMA for it. Needless to say, I stopped using it, and bought a ProTek battery checker, which has been spectacular since the day I first used it. True, it won't "balance" a Lipo...but, a charger will ALWAYS do a much better job at balancing that that Spectrum battery checker ever would.
    As for the vehicle (not really sure whether to consider it a 'car', or a 'truck'...almost a "cross breed"), itself, I SOOOOOOO want one. Based on what others have said, you'll definitely want to 'raise' the shocks, and replace the shock oil (front & rear, especially the rear) with heavier weight oil. Speaking of the shocks, also use some nitro fuel tubing to limit compression (moreso the rear, but what the front). Thicker diff fluid might also be good.
    Finally, as for your 8S vs 12S debate, at least one person already tried it on 12S...and, financially speaking, he's super he did. Evidently, the gears didn't hold up. You could go 12S...but, in doing so, you'll probably want to gear down somewhat. Alternately, instead of going 12S, my suggestion would be to try sticking with 8S, and gear up slightly. You'll still gain speed...but, compared to 12S & gearing down, 8S & gearing up will be less stressful to the drivetrain (especially with initial throttle).

      @ninthislandrc Great points! I've always used the checker as a read only device but something had me wanting to use it to balance the cells. Never again! For me, I'm sticking with 8s. When I put two working packs😊 I liked what I got out of it. I don't need something this big and heavy in the areas I run to go 70+ mph.

    Cell balancers drop the voltage on the high cells to match up with low voltage cells. Battery needs to be charged after balancing. It is nearly impossible to balance cells by bringing up the low ones to match due to overshoot. just FYI

    • @ReadySetRC
      @ReadySetRC  4 місяці тому

      @scottykardos Yup that's exactly what happened, it dropped the cells to the lower two cells but it put the battery to 2.17/cell. I recovered it but my thought it was never fully charged. I've since ran this pack with no issues. One pack was fully charged and the second pack was partially charged which caused the RC to go in to LVC a lot sooner than I was expected. If you watch to the end 2nd run was a lot less eventful😊

  • @The_RC_Guru

    I use the gens ace imars d300 charger. It’s specifically made to work with these batteries(all batteries but the gens basher batteries plug and play). Def don’t use cell balancers to balance if they aren’t powered they can only pull voltage down. You learned that lesson here lol. Just let the charger balance charge and they balance for storage mode too. Even my 15yr old Hyperion charger balance charges and shows the values each time. Haven’t seen this car before. The body is a nice new concept. If the driveline is solid it’s worth it.

    • @ReadySetRC
      @ReadySetRC  4 місяці тому +1

      @The_RC_Guru Two runs in and it has been holding up well. I'm really impressed with the SCR Pro. Actually that is the charger I use as well. I've had the battery checker for a little over 2 years now. I saw that feature on the battery checker and never noticed before. Figured what the hell😆 I did use the d300 to charge it right after the balance on the checker. It charged 100% completed for about 40 minutes but it looks like it never fully charged. I've since used the battery, no issues. The worse was a shorten run.

    • @ReadySetRC
      @ReadySetRC  4 місяці тому

      @spenn2007 Did you watch the first part of the vid where I discuss the battery issue? There was a problem with one of the packs. My guess it was running on 6S since 2 of the cells were bad.

  • @coryjamesc
    @coryjamesc 4 місяці тому +1

    You should Always balance charge the batteries.. If you dont they can and will catch on fire during charging.

    • @ReadySetRC
      @ReadySetRC  4 місяці тому

      @coryjamesc Great point but that is not what happened here. I always balance charge my batteries. As stated in the vid, I tested the battery and noticed two cells were unbalanced. I used a checker to balance the battery and it lower the over voltage of the pack. I typically don't use this checker to balance but saw the feature and figure why not. I then balanced charged the pack for 40 minutes/charger identified the pack charged but the pack was never fully charged. I've since ran and charged this pack with no issues. Looks like you are new to the channel. Welcome! Also there is another vid with this truck running in optimal form after this vid was published. If you get a chance check that video out.
