Being a ‘Dustbin’ man in the 60’s was one of the highest paid manual work on the council. It was steel dustbins back then and the guys would skilfully hump them into their back and empty them manually into the wagon. They were strong guys but the super strong could lift two at a time, one in each hand resting them on their backs and running to the wagon to empty them. It was ‘Job and Knock’ back then, the sooner you completed your round, the sooner you could leg it home.
That was hard work then . A lot of my wife's family worked on "the dust" in the days they came into your garden to empty your bin. Now we do everything but tip it into the wagon for them !
0:54 is no one going to talk about this insane optical illusion? I thought he was already on the very edge, but then he reversed even more and i was like wtf
This type of transfer station sure makes for quick unloading. I thought it was cool that the Alpha looked like it packed just as tight as the 2RII! The 2 F7000s were great to see again too, they didn't even look full.
Question. lets say that you want to dump garbage from a new construction home or commercial building. All the scrap wood and brick where would you dump it?
That truck at 5:55 is an old one. It's a White Loadmaster (?) a design from the early 1970s or late 1960s. I remember these as a kid. That truck can't be newer than the late 1970s.
I totally agree with you we must have a thing for rubbish a smells not too nice especially the UK where I live in London where there's an incinerator and every bloody day or lorry goes past stinking of rubbish
So I know that there's a guy that usually rides the forklift-like device around in the trash pit and pushes it elsewhere. Where does it go from there? An incinerator? Buried? Or does it just depend upon the landfill itself?
it’s definitely deceiving. when he first backed up it looked like the back was already all the way off the edge, but then dude was able to walk all the way around the back of the truck
Something we don't see much of on here is unloading action, so it's awesome whenever someone uploads such entertainment. Glad you managed to catch both RLs and SLs tipping off, bugger there wasn't an FL to top it off, but can't get everything eh! Best thing about some RL designs is when you can open the sweep blade and everything slides out when the tailgate is raised, quick eject blades on both Leachs too, but that tailgate on the Heil looked pretty unhealthy on the way up. I like the "smile" on the side of the second truck too hehe Don't think I've ever seen drivers undo the manual locks before either, seems a lot of ours were phased out very quickly. I enjoyed the little bits of the CAT you got ploughing through the garbage too, almost felt like an indoor landfill. The thing I love about this rear view of the trucks is seeing all the rubbish bulging out of the body and seeing it pour down into the pit upon ejection/hoisting. Job well done, looking forward to seeing the other part.
i believe the transfer stations compact their trash, in many areas. this saves on fuel as well as makes it easier to get more life out of the land fills. i believe that's true where i live.
iam in the trash hauling business here in houston. how many 12 ft trailers 12x8x4 could i possibly fit in one of those big trucks. also what is the price to dump one of those. iam guessing i could possibly fot about 15 trailers of mine since its compress debris
I’m a diesel mechanic for republic services and those are not supposed too shake at all either they not getting proper maintenance of line or low hydraulic oil or just worn cylinders
the third truck that comes in must have a really old body on it, its a heil collectomatic, it must be 30 years old !! not seen one in action for so long. nice catch of that :)
Awesome work, love seeing the pits in action. Reminds me of my transfer station. Do they load all the waste into an open top semi-trailer or do they have those big transfer compactors? Thats a nice D8T they have, we have a D8R dozer working the pit where I go and it sounds fantastic, I just love that awesome Caterpiller growl! Cat Dozers are the best. Good to see you can film there though, in Australia no filming is allowed, yet I could film in a massive incinerator in London!
Ive unloaded trucks during fair time in the fall. The dump buildings are the worst. 1 whiff and you'll vomit. Best to keep your nose plugged or a face mask.
wow those RLs seems to handle a lot more than they looked and im really diggin that CCC Leach hopefully you or jared get footage one day of 'em :D seems that Peterbilt has a strong presence in Oregon judging from your vids and these trucks unloading seems kind of iffy using a tip to dump truck in places where u have to stay in that spot or risk spilling ur load but it seems they just empty the hopper while tipping... great work on this!
In order to protect the environment, Congratulations on your new achievement, Li from China, manufacturer of low-temperature magnetic waste thermal decomposition device
Much more than that. Depends on the size of the trashcans you are servicing. 500 is on the low end for normal domestic garbage. We use to do 700+ in a 20 yard Mcneilus. Most homes had a 30 or 60 gallon container.
I always wonder that like what if there is a human body dumped into a dumpster and when the truck arrives it dumps it into it's truck and then it breaks it down and then dumps it at the end of the day where they dump all the trash lol
@@jzip Simple. Either the garbagemen see something suspicious in the pile, investigate it and alert the police, or they don't, in which case the body gets successfully disposed of, and the murderer gets away scot-free. How exactly it gets disposed of depends on the municipality. Some burn their trash, others bury it in landfills, etc.
Don't worry the brake on these thing are designed to stop hundred of tonnes, And there is a screen inside the cab with a camera at the back showing him the rear of the truck so he doesn't fall off
