As a brazillian i'd like to say Portugal is my favorite country on earth, the culture, the language, the architecture, the people, the food, the weather, the safety, i can't describe what i feel when i see those landscapes, the city, the mountains, the rivers, the castles, the beaches, i feel something in my heart.
Too many Brazilians here, however, half a million. This place will turn into a Brazil (ironically the very thing Brazilians are trying to escape from) in a few years.

Dave, that was an incredible video. As an American, living in Europe, I really appreciate it. I am really considering retiring in Portugal and you really hit some great places, of which I was unaware. I must also compliment you on your Portuguese pronunciations as they seem quite good. It is an educational opportunity for English speakers to learn the proper way of speaking the language rather than bastardizing it into an English way. When you move to a country, you should adapt. I must mention that português people are very kind to us, foreigners, cause they bothered to learn English, which is second language for almost all people in the world. In Spain, France and Italy almost no one gives a damn about English 😅

The way you pronounced "Aljubarrota" was indicating of how hard you tried to say it right. And I appreciate how hard that word can be to pronounce correctly to an American. As a Portuguese, I have to congratulate you on both the effort put in learning Portuguese as well as making an effort towards having a very good pronunciation. Also, awesome video you put up here. Beautiful Baleal. I was lucky to live a few minutes from Baleal for 3 months... My introduction to Portugal and I will eventually move permanently one day.
I'm from Portugal and have been there many times, but this year was the first time I actually got to see some of the country outside of Lisbon. I have to say that one of the coolest things I saw, that I really wasn't expecting, was the view from the rooftop of Santa Luzia in Viana Do Castelo. Even climbing the staircase was an experience. I didn't get to see the Celtic ruins nearby, but I bet there's something interesting there too.
Just for the people that think Douro river crosses Porto... The actual city is just on the north bank of Douro. On the south one, it's Gaia... another beautiful city. Currently, there are six bridges connecting the two cities. In fact, Porto and Gaia are the two European cities with the most bridges (since they share them). Also... Porto is the city that named Portugal and is also known as Invicta (which means "invincible").
We just returned from 3 weeks in Portugal touring all over the countyside. I have to agree Marvao was beautiful. We stayed in the town overnight & it was a magnificent sunset. I had my best night's sleep of the entire trip in a tiny little hotel there snug inside the stone walls. Portugal was beautiful and the people were wonderful. I can't wait to go back! Your videos were very helpful in our trip planning and how we used our time while there. Thank you!!

And thank you for talking about the first point of the Azores, it is truly a paradise, I wasn't born there but I loved visiting it, it is truly a paradise... Congratulations on your work
Thank you Dave for putting together such inspiring video about Portugal 🇵🇹 ! However, I couldn't help but notice a few gems that weren't mentioned. In the Algarve, towns like Tavira, known for its 30+ churches, and Olhão, the cubist town of Moorish flat roofs, are truly remarkable. Not to forget Vila Real de Santo António, a testament to the importance of pombaline urbanism, and Mértola, a medieval Moorish village overlooking the Guadiana. I could venture north and enumerate the many charming fortified, walled and white-washed towns of Alentejo, like Évora or Monsaraz, even further to the Beiras, where you'd discover Coimbra, with its ancient university, palaces and rich history. However, I'll leave this for you to discover. I hope this holds as an invitation for you to explore the rich landscape and many of the other unknown historical sites of Portugal. Thank you once again for showcasing Portugal's beauty! All the best
You're a man of good taste, not only you chose some of the best scenery but the music is also fantastic. As you said, Portugal has still much more to offer.
Excellent video that shows exactly the geographical and cultural diversity Portugal as to offer. There is still a lot more to see. Missing out on Coimbra is almost a sin 😁. Great work! Keep it up.
I little message from Carvoeiro. Dave, really fun to watch your videos. Not sure what you did in your previous life but its clear that you know how to get the right shots and clips and your editing is very good. Looking forward to the next one.

10:25 Batalha de Aljubarrota is one of our most legendary battles with our fellow spanish friends. There is a very well known story about how a «Padeira» (wich stands for baker) killed hundred of spanish soldiers just with her baking pan. Her name was Aljubarrota and thats why that batlle got their name. Portugal really have the strongest womens i ever saw.
I like the way u present the country, very good filming, comprehensive and clear comments, informative. Many people do their video with a lot of talking unimportant things, using a lot of time showing the airport, the meals, their room, yet not much about scenery, just feel spending a lot of time watching but didn't get much about the country. Thank you for doing in a precise n informative way. U ve kept the main thing the main thing.❤
I grew up in Portugal and you really picked some very original places. Me being half Portuguese and grewing up their, I've learned things from this video. Your video is amazing!
Another great video! I loved Porto as well and the people there are amazing. I would not want to be there in the winter. I love that you went to Tomar. The day we got to Tomar, the weather was so foul that we could not really see anything and the castles was surrounded in scaffolding and tarps. It was disappointing but we left and went to Obidos which I LOVED! I'm coming back in 2024 to explore more before making my decision to move. I think I want to be down in the Algarve where it's warmer so maybe Loule or Silves since it's gotten so expensive to be on the ocean. Of course, I could end up in Faro as a couple of my friends have just done. Either way, you have given me some new places to explore. Thank you for that.
This was a great video. The more videos I see about Portugal, the more things I add to my list to explore on my next trip there. I feel so grateful that my first introduction to Portugal was spending a week in Carvoeiro as a house sitter. I knew nothing about the area but since my visit, I now understand the popularity of the area. It is definitely only a place to chill, remote work, and enjoy the views.
Thanks so much for the video! I also love Portugal, been to Albufeira awhile ago, been to Madeira this spring and now got the tickets to go to Lisboa in December. I would love a video about things to do in Lisboa in winter time 😊
Hi Dave I am coming to Portugal 🇵🇹 next march for three months your videos are very inspiring and have given me lots of great places to visit thank you keep up the great work 🎉
Hello, Dave! There is still so much you can visit in Portugal such as in the center you can go to Serra de Estrela and explore the towns surrounding it because you will be surprised what you might encounter. Great job listing some placed here and researching the history behind them 😊👏
Dave, your channel is getting better video by video. Well done. I look forward to future videos, both the informative ones like this or the critical/journalistic ones. Again, good job.
Blessed to say I’ve been to 9 of the locations and many more not on your list like Guimarães, Coimbra, Aveiro the list goes on. And I still have many more in my bucket list to visit. Great video
Very beautiful video. Very nice done. Dave, come visit Azeitão, it is on the Setúbal peninsula and is an area worth visiting, not only for the natural beauty of Serra da Arrábida, monuments and cultural history but also for the wines, sweets and cheeses. Did you know that we still have olive trees from Phoenician times?... yes, olive trees that are over 2000 years old... Cheers
Bro, for sure the best places in our beautiful Country are not in Lisbon. edit: Dave I really like how you always make sure to ask people to respect our Country in every single video. Respect goes both ways, thank you for that!
Amazing Video Dave! Portugal is a magical place I have no doubts. I love to live here and discovery new enchanting spots. Thank you for this video, it's well done ❤
Cool selection! For surf town you also have Sagres (The end of the world), also has the historical part too. It's my go to place! Also it has the most amazing sunsets
When/If you have the chance, do visit Óbidos (a wallowed medieval town), Évora (not far from the standing stone you show), Lagos (where the Portuguese Discoveries started) and surroundings, etc etc etc.
Spend a few days in Marvao and second everything you said. It‘s one of the most amazing panoramas in the area. Unfortunately, there isn‘t much left of the original village life on the other hand it feels much more authentic than Obidos. Worth mentioning to take a day trip to see the breathtaking „Forte de Graça“ near Elvas.
Yes Portugal is small in land mass & the locals should be payed more than they are (which pisses me off greatly) but that's it, everything else that makes a country great from past to present Portugal has it in spades, across the board all things considered Portugal is HUGE!.. no wonder many people from different cultures have put Portugal in top 3 quality of living countries on the planet... great production Dave, keep it up bro :)

@robertolang9684 Whoever it was, it's old
It's amazing how you can make me fall in love with my own country! Thank you for these videos and keep enjoying Portugal!
These comments are the reason I make these videos. Muito Obrigado🙏
Same here, i'm always moved to tears, i'm so deeply in love with my country.
Thanks! Love your stuff Some Guy
Also... Porto is the city that named Portugal and is also known as Invicta (which means "invincible").
beautiful video... thank you for loving Portugal as much as we do... your soul is Portuguese... 😄
Dave, incrível como o teu sotaque está cada vez melhor
Vídeo espetacular
Beijinhos de Sintra
Muito Obrigado, beijinhos !
Great work! Keep it up.
The best Portuguese video ever, thank you & thank you for Magic
I little message from Carvoeiro. Dave, really fun to watch your videos. Not sure what you did in your previous life but its clear that you know how to get the right shots and clips and your editing is very good. Looking forward to the next one.
Hey! Agree. Does anyone know the name of the Arabic influence villa featured?
Amazing video Dave! I’m glad u enjoying my beautiful country.
I lived there 30 years of my life and now I’m in the freezing cold Toronto, maybe some day I’ll be back but for now just some vacay here and there
Living in Madeira, awesome video ! Your production is like documentary level, very nice Dave !
Yo Dave, made it to Portugal, nice, thank you and thank you Portugal for having me!
I hope you had a good stay in Leiria, my hometown! I really like your vids! Thank you for showing my country and wish you all of the best!
Leiria doesn’t exit! 😂 😘
It's "Açores": is always pronounced as /s/, as in "auce" and "paed".
Finally Marvão! 👍
My favorite 🙌🏻
Loved this video. Just returned from a 3-week vacation to Portugal and loved it. Also we visited locations based on your videos. Memorable!!
Thank you Dave
Family is from Terceira Portugal and immigrated to Canada where I was born. As I write this I’m in Porto! This is my fourth time in Portugal. We’ve been to 8 cities on continent so far. Great video!
Gosh - I just got home from Portugal a few weeks ago - looks like I'll have to plan another visit! It's such a beautiful country.
Beautiful places in Portugal. We hope we can visit some of them when we visit Portugal for the first time in May 2024!
Did you get to see the places? Which was your favorite?
@@phoenixnmhesq We did go to Sintra, but did not see the palaces. Although beautiful and historic, palaces and castles creep me out LOL. I have uploaded a few videos of my trip. Feel free to view them on my channel. :)
Love all your videos! My husband was born in Portugal I am American we are retiring in 8 months back to Portugal! I look forward to seeing more of your informative videos ❤️
As Portuguese I really love the way you picture and describe my country!
I'm Portuguese, but I live in the UK. It's an amazing video about my country .
I grew up in Portugal and you really picked some very original places. Me being half Portuguese and grewing up their, I've learned things from this video. Your video is amazing!
Excellent cinematography. Like the direction of your channel.
Great video, one of your best yet! Excellent story telling!
Winters are fine in Porto. I live here
Chuck, Faro is a great city, with a fantastic weather.
Very well done!
best video i've seen about portugal.
my compliments!
loved it.
Thank you for watching!
Thanks so much for the video! I also love Portugal, been to Albufeira awhile ago, been to Madeira this spring and now got the tickets to go to Lisboa in December. I would love a video about things to do in Lisboa in winter time 😊
The best video ever of Portugal! I spent 2 weeks last month but it’s not enough. 1 month at least. Thank you Dave for the amazing videos!
Portugal país maravilhoso❤
love the respect u show to Portugal. Love from Braga bro
J'aime le Portugal ❤❤
Obrigado!
Muito Obrigado 🙏🏻
@@daveinportugal we have to thank you. Sometimes it takes a foreigner to show us the beauty of our own country ;)
Great job listing some placed here and researching the history behind them 😊👏
I haven't been to Serra da Estrela yet but it's definitely on the list. So much to see
@@pedroytb355 My bad, thank you for correcting me but I know 😂 I live near Serra da Estrela 😊
@@Timeisallthatmattersinlife1 oh, no problem, dw abt it :)
A Very good video indeed. The light, angles, the prespective, it gives a very good sense of the place.
Great video
Great! Dave! Thanks ! You like my country!!!😊
I'm going to spend 30 days in June to explore this beautiful country. Thank you for this video
Another great video, thanks for sharing!
I visited Lisbon and already fell in love with it. I would definitely live there. My biggest mistake was staying only for 6 days.
Dave, I have to say, you make the best videos of my country.
I loved Lisbon and definitely want to visit more of Portugal soon!
Thanks Dave for sharing with a world my paradise: Azores. Congratulations for your nice job
One of the most beautiful videos I've seen. The landscape mixed with the poetry of words. Superb! Muito obrigada🍀🥀🍀🥀🍀🥀🍀
Cheers
Amazing video, you made portugal look so good, places that even a portuguese never heard and it looks amazing! You're a wonder of a tale teller !
Bro, for sure the best places in our beautiful Country are not in Lisbon.
edit: Dave I really like how you always make sure to ask people to respect our Country in every single video. Respect goes both ways, thank you for that!
🙏
Gorgeous video. Much more expansive than other Portugal travel guides.
Amazing Video Dave! Portugal is a magical place I have no doubts. I love to live here and discovery new enchanting spots. Thank you for this video, it's well done ❤
10:28 - HA! Snort laugh. Awesome video, great drone shots. As a portuguese, it made me very proud. 🇵🇹
❤🇵🇹 lindo o meu Portugal
Cool selection!
For surf town you also have Sagres (The end of the world), also has the historical part too. It's my go to place! Also it has the most amazing sunsets
When/If you have the chance, do visit Óbidos (a wallowed medieval town), Évora (not far from the standing stone you show), Lagos (where the Portuguese Discoveries started) and surroundings, etc etc etc.
Magnificent video, thank you Dave.
The town needs tourism
Superb review, I really enjoyed this. Beautifully reviewed and filmed. Thank you X:)
Ola from Vila Nova de Gaia =) Glad to hear Porto is your favorite spot so far... It is a gorgeous town with a lovely sister city across the river ;P
Obrigado Nelson! Um Abraço
I am from Portugal , living in the uk for almost 6 years now, and i miss my country sooo much!! Also i feel like there is a lot more to say about the beautiful Arquipélago of Madeira!! Make a dedicated video to Madeira! ❤️
