the ENTIRE series feels like it was built for this very scene, and I wouldn't be surprised if it was from the beginning. Really impressive writing
This was planed from the start
It is a masterpiece
It all makes sense..
it definitely was
Hell, if you go back to Season 1 episode 4, while elliot is going through his withdrawals, he accidentally falls into the fake world he created for the real elliot, and proposes to Angela while holding the Bedroom key he stole from his dad to stop his dad from being able to come into his room.
Then, a little bit later, Angela tells Mastermind "You are not the real Elliot", the exact same scene which plays out in Season 4 episode 13. It's genius.
What’s crazy about this twist (and really all the twists in this show) is how obvious they are upon rewatching, and yet how shocking they are in the moment. Of course Elliot was molested, explains his DID, why he doesn’t like being touched, his isolation, his inherent distrust, everything, and yet I never saw it coming.
Aye. Much like real life. You never know what someone has been through, but every story makes sense.
I also loved that they revealed he wasn’t pushed but jumped out the window about a season or two ago until they reveal why.
Keep in mind too, most of the time when he's been most vocal about not wanting to be touched, is when it was from a guy
@@TheDarkpho3nix33 Oh my !!! Totally ! Rewatching the series, and it's totally true ! When girls touch him (Shayla, Angela, Darlene, Olivia), Elliot is fine. But Gideon, Ollie... he's really uncomfortable.
I love how no matter how hard elliot tries to get out of sight of the camera he stays in focus, he cant hide from this truth anymore.
Now rewatching the series all over again with different eyes.
Why? Not from S04 ?
I’m doing the same while also catching season 4 every week. Just finished season 2
Actually there are some plots hole: for example Darlene in s2 says Elliott that want her father back, so why saying so if the father was a bad person and abused Elliott?
@@elmago1379 She didn't know that Edward Aldersson abused Eliott, because Eliott kept this story for himself
@@bustermalh.9557 she told Elliot (mastermind) that she doesnt know how to speak him after all is happened, so i Think She knew
I love that you can see the pain and heartbreak in krista’s eyes. She’s a therapist, this is her job. And yet it doesn’t make confronting someone to this repressed pain any less difficult. When Elliot confirms her suspicions she doesn’t look pleased that she was right, quite the opposite. It’s subtle but her acting in this scene makes it so much more horrific of a reveal.
It's the part where Eliot is crying, then it cuts to Krista and she drops her head and a tear rolls down her face. Absolutely gut wrenching.
Specially considering the fact that she knows Elliot wasn't supposed to uncover these memories in such terrible circumstances
Yes I saw that in her face!
its definitely not her job to uncover such a traumatic memory under duress like that. It was so abjectly painful that Elliot’s mind was forced to split into dissociative identities just to cope. She is aware of the irreparable harm forcing those buried memories to resurface, literally at gunpoint, will cause.
I feel like the casting for Krista and Fernando was incredibly important for the first season, knowing how important they would be towards the end of the series. I wouldn't be surprised if they took special care for those characters in particular early on. Not to downplay the other performances in the show, but the amount of foresight required for those decisions should not go unpraised.
i’ve never been as emotionally affected by a show as i was by this one. this episode left me in an hour long cry session.
Same this show is so dark especially if you rewatch it
Why?
@@bidmcms3 just imagining and feeling the pain elliot felt when he had this realization. it was crushing. especially since he'd said things like his dad was his best friend and had convinced himself (and us) that it was true.
@@bidmcms3 you should watch it first and then ask questions
The greatest episode of the history of TV series. Non negotiable
It actually ranks 8th on imdb of all time best TV episodes of all time. I also think it should be number 1 but it's close. 4 episodes of season 4 hit within the top 50
@@EnviroSocial what’s the 1st ?!
@@sonia4313 It is a breaking bad episode from the last season named Ozymandias. Also if you are only counting episodes with over 10k ratings then this Mr. Robot episode gets the 5th spot.
@@EnviroSocial The series finale is the best one on imdb, no?
EnviroSocial it’s now rated as the second best episode of a tv show
I remember watching this for the first time and feeing absolutely betrayed - but in a good way because the twist is masterfully woven into the fabric of the overarching story. It’s not cheap at all, and it hits so hard because it completely destroys the veil that Elliot’s been hiding behind. Even something like Breaking Bad never had a twist this good.
This is why Rami won an Oscar. He's such a fantastic actor.
Looking back on this, it now makes sense why Elliot's mother appears so unlikable at first. Her despise for the father. Because she knew or at least suspected it, and hated that man, while being incapable of protecting her children.
I think, at least in part, that Elliot made up just how bad his mom was. In the scene where Elliot talks to his mom in the nursing home you can easily read her sadness and regret. She was definitely abusive because Darlene mentions it as well, but she was not the hateful woman Elliot remembers her as.
They can be both abusive, although elliot's father was clearly a monster
No she was insane
I'm in no way qualified to speak with authority on this but after doing some of the reading it might make sense that she's another Alter, an introjection just like Mr. Robot. The man who we had been protecting him the whole time might have been a version of his father that he would've liked to have had, a Protector Alter. Oppositely, the mother he kept seeing in those moments where he projected hatred may have been a Persecutor Alter, a sort of strict custodian to keep him in line with smaller abuses to keep him from inviting the even worse kinds of abuse he was secretly afraid of. The way he talks down to Bill with disgust and hate might have been the way Elliot sees himself, and in that scene he saw his mom talking that way to the younger version of himself.
You see this sort of thing on the news sometimes: a husband charged with abusing his children, the wife complicit in the abuse, admits her guilt and confesses that she lashed out against her children whenever they tried to get her to see the truth. They can go to great lengths to deny the horrific reality of their situation.
@@N0hN4me have you finished the show?
I always thought Ozymandias from Breaking Bad was the best TV episode I ever saw..........until my boyfriend introduced me to this show and we made it to this episode. I layed on the bed in absolute tears at this and I don't normally cry at any TV show or Movie. 1000000/10 acting from everyone. Especially Rami Malek and Christian Slater
As someone who has d.i.d they pinpointed how an episode of it looks like his acting was amazing and I hope he wins an award

this scene made me look at the whole show in a different way. Utterly incredible and dark resolution to explaining Elliot's character. Just WOW
This show rules. It's an emotional rollercoaster start to finish and if you don't feel anything watching Elliots journey your likely dead inside

@@Mukatutu as careful as I am about spoiling stuff for anybody else, if it happens to me, I almost don't mind. The anticipation of knowing what's going to happen, and the ability to catch things as you go, are their own special feeling. So far Golden Globes didn't 😡

This is an absolute jaw dropping scene.. changes everything.. now the whole thing from the beginning feels different... That is just brillant
0:06 - 1:14 is all one single shot on Elliot's face, and yet it feels so short. Amazing performance by Rami Malek
g-d his acting choices are next level. how he’s faced away from vera as much as possible. all the micro expressions… it’s incredible. what a devastating scene.
This episode was such a gut punch because Eliot's relationship with his dad was one of the only warm and comforting things in the show. As the viewer you feel that loss and betrayal along with him.
I've also been through something similar in real life, so this was really hard to watch.
Hope you’re okay ❤️
every time this scene just makes me sob uncontrollably. Rami and Gloria's acting here is seriously some of the best i've seen.
Since my Childhood, i havent cryed like this. Cant find words for the skill Rami Malek has shown in this scene.
That "No!" at 0:49.. =( Poor Elliot
You can tell that was his younger self coming out. Perfect acting...
@@yuhmuhfuhkuh : I agree. It sounded very childlike. Poor Elliot.
Out of all the scenes in all 4 scenes, every episode, every dramatic moment, this scene, hit the hardest
You mean all 4 season?
Man it's so dark.
I had chills watching this for the first time, I just had chills watching it for the 9999999 time, Rami Malek is amazing! Krista did a great job too, the pain she feels when she helps him find the truth is real. 😭
I was shaking from the inside out on this scene. The anticipation gave me a panic attack. I had to call out that monday to gather myself.
you cant watch a show without it effecting you some much you miss work
Damn.
😔😔
This scene is so heartbreaking. I kept remembering how the young Elliot would have acted and how the adult Elliot is denying all of it because of the sheer pain. Truly sad.
This episode had some great performances by everyone but Rami Malek delivers so hard in this scene that you forget your watching a show and it makes it all the more unsettling.
That scene and the trunk scene of season 1 had very intense effects on me . I couldn't even cry . just stayed in shock for a long moment.
He deserved to win for this!!
EMMY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I cried with him in this scene😭
Masterful acting
Masterful everything!
Masterful acting, writing, scoring, directing!
I remember very well what I felt when I saw this moment. Everything about it, even the very messy season 2, all the good and average things about the show, all of it made sense. This is one of the greatest reveals in TV history, and one of the finest hours in TV. So glad I stuck with Mr Robot.
Maybe I'm wrong, but in this scene, it seems like the real Elliot taking control of the body again, and maybe the "no, no, no" repeatedly, is Mastermind (and even the Young Elliot personality at 0:49) trying to keep Elliot away from this and failing at it. That's why Elliot come back at the final episode with the eye falling tears. Just a theory tho.
Indeed, Elliot totally lost his trust on Mr. Robot in this scene
I agree.
I think you're wrong. The show makes it clear that the only time the real Elliot has ever woken up was because of his connection with Darlene. This is still the Mastermind, the personality created to hold all of Elliot's negative emotions.
Regarding the falling tears, the scene right before that was all his memories from his different personalities returning to the real elliot as he wakes up, so yes, he remembers everything that happened, both as Mr Robot and The Mastermind. Because in the end, they're all him anyway.
it was obvious from the start with all the "no touching" rule he had.
it's textbook
Elliot is one of the most well written characters of all time.
This was some great acting man seeing that pain made a tear drop crazy twist :(
That was such a big twist im crying 🥺🤧
Rami malek is a phenomenal Actor he is GENIUS MINDBLOWING 🙌👏🔥😥😥👏👏👏
Thinking about this scene a few years later, what a masterpiece of an episode.

Why did I watch this at work now I'm too depressed to serve drinks
not me watching this just so I can cry
im here again to do the same thing
Rami is a great actor I don't blame you lol
damn even through this, the lighting in this episode was amazing
This scene pisses me off. Not because I think it's bad writing or was poorly acted. Rami did great.
It just makes me think of all the children that have to go through this crap. Children who get sexually abused and then suffer with the effects long term. I wish adults who had those urges would just try to get help instead of acting on their temptation to harm a child.
Nunca podré superar esto, elliot me hizo sentir demasiado triste en esta escena, me hizo cambiar muchas cosas. Lejos la mejor serie
Elliot hating physical contact... him having this "voice" aka Mr.Robot, in his head, hiding him from the truth.
Bro I got goosebumps when I just watched this episode. This was fking powerful asf
Greatest episode my eyes has ever witnessed
Rami deserves the Emmy for this!
As a victim, I saw it coming tbh. Nothing else made any sense.
Ah man i cried so much over this scene.
Best plot twist ever made
I think he was protecting his sister because he knew or suspected his father starting to abuse her too
Damn I need the scene where Vera threatens Elliot with shooting Krista, right after Elliot tries to shoot him
This series was dark from start with all the corporate espionage stuff, but this scene is where it went off the charts.
2:20 when my kids ask if I remember an overweight gray rabbit
💀💀💀
I remember when she started talking, it hit me like a truck what was going on and I just started bawling my eyes out
It’s so sad now I realise why he dosent like being touched
thats why elliots mom blamed the dad even if elliot jumped from the window, she has propably been there too or at least knew or suspected ):
she felt so guilty for not being able to do anything about it that she died inside

Mr roboot very sad 😢😢
Greatest darkest moment of the show!
Damn just say today I'm glad I never clicked early I was full off emotion going every where but mainly trying not to cry his acting is so good plus I already had fell in love with the character best show in my opinion it addresses topics people neglect 10/10 vera twist i need a break to much feelings lol
snap out of it hahaha
Both of these characters were awful creeps and needed saving
Does Elliot have DID? Sufferers often develops it to cope with a traumatic childhood which is why Krista came to the conclusion of sexual abuse but is it realistic for his one of his alters to be the person who abused him?
Watch the finale
Yes.
Or just watch the show.
Yes, DID is always formed from extreme childhood abuse
What? His "alter" didn't molest him. His father did. Mr robot just LOOKS like Elliot's dad, it isn't actually him. Did you even watch the show?
wtf is that quality?
i love how this show make you feel sympathy for horribles personns like verra leon price.

If I were in her place , I would have just hugged him as long as he want because he just needed someone to hold him that moment. She didn't do that. Sad.
Well maybe she's professional unlike you?
@@raihankameel320 I will tell you a story. When Sundar Pichai, the current CEO of google Inc., attended the interview for the post, he had to answer this question- what would you do if you see a baby, abandoned in a place and crying?'. He answered - I'll call 911 or other emergency team. Then the panel told him, if you find a baby in that situation, take him/her, hug and if hungry, feed. I hope you understand the moral, sometimes, humanity should overtake professionalism😊
@@user-be4cf8nb2s That's a completely different situation. You are seriously comparing a grown man in a therapy setting with an abandoned crying baby? Seriously? Also, Elliot doesn't like anyone touching him since the beginning. Not everybody likes hug anyway. It can feel intrusive.
