Thank you for translating this! I'm not a weightlifter, just an ordinary guy who lifts weights, but I like the Russian weightlifters very much, especially Klokov, Akkaev, and the historic ones like Rigert, Plukfelder, etc. I can't get enough of all of those guys. I wish all of their interviews were translated!
I am just a gym user myself, not into heavy weight lifting but it made me sad myself, after all that has been said I was totally waiting for the clash even though they announced that they will not be performing.
MUCH appreciated vlad! im an avid weightlifter myself, and i watched your ilya ilyin documentary translation. i stumbled upon your channel before dima's blew up. very appreciative of you now translating dmitrys videos!
Yes indeed. I am just flicking through and seeing what's worth translating. I'll post a comment on this video when the next one is out and if you subscribe then you will get a notification.Vlad.
Two great lifters. I love that they push one another to new heights. Thanks for the english translation. What is the music from the 25 minute mark ? Thanks .
Akkaev had said that he had planned to compete even after surgery. He was there until the last minute when he realized there just was no way (unless he was to end up crippled for life). I was at the 94s and he was there as an spectator (by some stroke of luck, I was allowed to sit at the side stalls where all the competitors and teams sat and saw him there and even took a photo with him :) )
i totaly agree with you, we people ask for it, when a WR is broken not too many are concerned about steroids. Now about the starting list, Akkaev was also on the starting list few hours before the competition, although they had withdrew him days before...now i am not saying that this is the true story and there is a possibility to both or one of them withdrew because of failing the test, but there are two of my best lifter and i still want the "fairytale" to continue....
He is just different to Akkaev. I think in a way as he said he is extremely hard working and being/behaving a bit 'wild' stimulates his performance which feeds him as it is his job.
Столько пафоса, два главных претендента, капец это мнение не знакомого с ситуцией в тяжелой атлетике человека. Во-первых есть очень сильный Арямнов из Белоруссии, а во-вторых, чет не увидели мы их на олимпиаде.

so... whats there future now? 2016?
You can't step over the bar because it's a living thing, but you can drop it??
why do you have this feeling?

I have made subtitles for another short documentary about David Rigert that few people requested. Check my channel.
07:27 Haha, I know that from my Russian trainer. Never heard it from ANY other country's lifters but to the Russians the bar is kinda sacred.
