In Belgium, we had a "burger" that appears all over Northern Europe, the Frikadellen. They come as round patties or sausage-shaped. One local chippy made their own with minced pork and bacon. But their method was to boil the bacon/gammon before mincing it to get rid of the nitrates and nitrites.
Cheers Gary: I may have been tempted, but not after your initial reaction. On the other hand, Iceland's 4 x 1/4 pound Aberdeen Angus burgers are the biz. I have tried the same style burgers from other supermarkets and they just don't compare. Iceland also sells 2 x 1/2 pound Aberdeen Angus burgers, they taste exactly the same, overall weight is the same but cost £1 more!
The best burgers we have found are either from Asda or Lidl, but they are Angus Quaterpounder Burgers. Lovely with cheese and dill pickles on them and Heinz Burger Sauce. We never shop in Iceland, it's in the centre of town, too much trouble.
It's often true that less is more, and it looks as though it's case in point here. Some things are better left plain as you rightly said. Thanks for sharing Gareth.
Hi Gareth thanks for the update about the level of heat on that lovely curry i went to Asda Eastleigh yep £5 they dont do a korma but the keralan prawn looks a nice creamy one , yes i already buy these burger s and the lamb and mint ones
Gaz you are so Kool I traveled 37 miles to a big Asda. Bought two from the entire range. Thank you. The first night I had butter chicken and the tandoori mix. Gonna wait till next week to try the madras and the lamb one. Thank you
Been making my own burgers for ages, 80/20 mince, salt and cracked pepper then you can adlib with other ingredients if you want. Great review as ever mate.
Hi Gareth, hope you’re all spot on 😂 the nearest Asda to me is six miles away, but after watching your review on the Bom,Bahia curry I ventured out and picked up the beef and also I thought I’d try the lamb one dinner to night sorted. Thanks mate. 👌kind regards from Islington.
Hi Gareth have you tried Cathedral city Cottage pie & Lasagne? These are the only things I buy from Iceland unfortunately. I don’t rate much else it’s very gimmicky sort of stuff they have in. Great content, love your videos. All the best
Bugger! Nice review as always mate. I've just done me Iceland shopping online & missed these. Try their TFI meatball lasagne it's lush mate with a few jockeys whips.

The frozen Lidl quarter pound burgers with a bit of cheese are better than they have any right to be. A pinch of salt helps. Thanks for taking another one for us all.
Happy new year gaz. My wife worked for asda over 30 years and has just retired before xmas. I went in other day to get a chicken biriani made by the company that makes the madras . YES! Its all gone up 50p!!!! Mind you its got some very good products. Can you tell me was the madras you reviewed very hot? Thanks mate keep up your good work. Regards , Steve.👍
H Gareth , another great vid, good choice with those Sheldon rolls are very nice , interesting with the bacon shame because it’s looks nice though. Regards mark
Great review as usual, I think to get a better burger u hv to use ground beef,I thought it was the same as minced beef but it’s not, I googled it. I don’t know if they sell ground beef in the shops or if u hv to do it yourself.
I went to my local Asda this morning and it was £5. Fully stocked up for curries at the moment but will try it and others in the range before long. BTW I much prefer the Sheldons to brioche buns.
Gaz, the price went up BECAUSE you gave it a great review. They figured, if Gareth loves it, then we can fleece everyone for it and they'll still buy it. I'd ring them and tell them you want a cut of the new profits... 25p for each one sold sounds about right.
They also probably mix different products like I’ve advocated above. You can always tell in some cases by the shape whether or not it’s been put through Minster.. it’s not necessary a bad thing because they have to comply with health and safety food standards which most industry does so don’t be put off by it. It’s just the fact that the way they process it it’s costing numerous things like that in this day and age .
I went ASDA last night and the curry's were still £4.50 although online it did say £5.00. In store it says they will go up to £6.00, I'm going to eat mine tonight with the samosas, rice and butter chicken 😋
Gareth Iceland are doing 4 beefburgers for a quid! In their pound range value meals, now they are small so you need two in a bap but they're okay for a quid.
Well I've planted some garlic this winter. I am at a loss since council tore down half the high street, was a good shop to buy a whole bunny tee he some quality butchers too. They also sold eggs and lot's of other delights including a ham shank. Anyone know where they went Castlegate.
Hi Gary.. Can I request a 10/10 play list as I get my mrs to buy stuff based on these. I know its your opinion so wont hold you to them, but the stuff you say is 10/10 is my 10/10 also.. Love those Tesco frozen buffalo wings and just tried the curry from yesterday...banging..
The curry is going up to £6 or so it says on my local asda shelves. Says try it now before i go to my regular price of £6 but at the minute it's still £4.50 because i bought another 1 today for later in the week

Yes you can, do your own with 70% beef and 30% fat. Add some egg whites, salt and pepper, blend together. Add some jalapeños if you fancy it. Bobs your uncle. 4 and half quid ish for a proper burger. Bollox to processed meat like wonky eye! 😉👍🏻

They look good Gaz. And if it's decent a pound a pop is OK. And with the bacon 89% meat. Pretty good for me. I think the meat content is one of the higher ones.

Have u seen Iceland have brought out luxury frozen quick cooking bacon would be interesting to see u review them I’m not sure if luxury and frozen bacon can be a thing
We like the ASDA Beef Quarter Pound Burgers value pack for our quick and easy burger fix, at 10 for £6.95 (£6.12/kg), they do offer good value and have good flavour and texture. One thing we do with the real bacon after it's cooked for burgers is a quick blitz in the food processor to make bit/crumbles/chunks and cover the edge to edge mayo on the bun lid with them so you get bacon in every bite. The iceland burgers are more per kilo than asda or even morrisons and are not any better flavour or texture wise. We have pretty much given up buying smoked bacon due to most using liquid smoke to flavour the bacon rather than real smoke, those that do so real smoking are to pricey and in our opinion not worth the money. Thank you for this review, it has only renforce my view that futzed with burgers from supermarkets are not worth trying, KISS rules with burgers. Take care, God bless one and all.
Don't often disagree with you Gareth, had these sat in the freezer, didnt fancy them after watching your review. Cooked one tonight thinking I would be throwing them in the bin. But I really liked them, not much bacon taste but had a hint and it tasted good.
Another great review, but what made this taste better was the roll and sauces. We should not have to add things to a product hence these burgers to make them taste better they should do what they say on the tin as we say. X
That’s way expensive £5 for 4 Burgers. Besides which we prefer the cheapest Asda Burgers range, you get a large box far cheaper than that. And you can feed a family . We buy 4 Cheesy topped buns , and warm them first to refresh them a bit. We make caramelised onions, slice the plum tomatoes thinly , put a cheese slice , and bacon in too. That really plumps out the burger and we put either mayo/ mustard & tomato relish in. A packet of the economy yellow chips and there you can feed an army of a family for probably the same price as a packet of 4 Asda burgers . They are having a larf !
