Remember that one ep. where it’s “totally jakes birthday” and a deer hides everyone in the sewers with caramel? But like jake is crazy and Finn’s legs are broken.
he absolutely does, not just because of this episode, but also because of his abandoment issues and deep fears based on past trauma. there are a lot of episodes focused on him struggling with his repressed psychological issues and complicated view of himself.
They mention this in the series itself. ( The vault) and how Finn activity knows he's repressing stuff that he doesn't think he can handle. Which the show did quite well at addressing (most) of the stuff in his vault.
On top of what the other guy said, you gotta remember these two are used to each other just disappearing randomly to go out on adventures. It like me and my room mate. I tend to go out for days at a time and take random road trips across Texas. Hell I went to the Davis mountains the other day and I live in Houston. That's a minimum 3 day trip. I was always concerned about that one episode where like.. there was a heart man made out of the insides of Ice King?? And they drugged Fin and Jake? I was slightly traumatised by that as a kid lmao
Honestly, I feel like some of the earlier episodes were probably made when the creators were either smoking crack, smoking weed, or both, because they _really_ did get strange sometimes. Not to say that strangeness did give the show it's wacky character, but this episode is an example of something that probably shouldn't have made the cut.
I can’t believe how this crossed my mind as a kid I didn’t even realise any of the sexual and weird imagery Watching is freaking me out now I don’t know why
When I was younger I understood the dancing pole reference, but I never realized how fucked up the whole episode is until now Edit: ok, so UA-cam is fucking stupid and it never notified me that this comment got SO MANY likes and replies. So to be clear: with "I didn't realized how fucked up this is" I specifically meant the fact that the whole episode is a reference to a pedophile kidnapping a minor. Obviously they changed the rape with using finn as a source of energy, but the parallelism with a pedophile's kidnap is still there, and when you are an adult and you understand it, is very messed up.
I dont think its that fucked up tho. The pole joke is the only thing thats an obvious adult reference but other than that, they're literally just utilizing finn as a source of energy because he doesnt seem to run out of it. I mean... for adventure time standards, thats not that weird and its at most wacky. I mean look at the times they made episodes that were fucked on purpose. Like that episode where jake loses his mind and pretends to have a surprise party.
Jake best friend moments: - when he’s literally suffering in an alternative universe and all Jake wishes for is a sandwich - when hes kidnapped and made to poll dance in front of a bunch of old midgets and Jake be dancing with bugs - when he’s forced to *LIVE AN ENTIRE LIFE OF NOT OPENING HIS EYES AND IF HE EVER FAILS HE HAS TO LIVE THROUGH IT AGAIN* and Jake casually pulls pranks on him and forcing him to open his eyes.
For the first one, Jake wasn't currently aware of Finn's situation. By the time he saw Finn in the alternate universe, he already used his wish, thus not being able to help. The second one, you can see Jake was worried while eating the sandwich. He was saying things like "I need to save Finn," THOUGH he didn't really ACT on it until the very end. The third? Wtf, Jake?
It's still better than the episode where a bee wanted to "pollinate" Finn's "flower" really bad. That scene with Finn and LSP still bothers me to this day but I completely forgot this episode.
Rebecca Sugar be like “In this episode the 12 year old protagonist will be kidnapped and forced to dance erotically for older men. He will also be psychologically tortured. Yes this is for children.”

Honestly, that would have been a better ending than what we got.
@@jor4114 excuse me what
I strongly disagree, the ending was great.

Oh god i can't believe i got the poledance joke 10 years later

@@ThatBluDude yeah
Emerald Queen BRUH. YOU UNDERSTAND A POLE DANCE JOKE AT AGE 6 WH-
Nameless 2000 Same I forgot all about that scene xD
Honestly, I feel like some of the earlier episodes were probably made when the creators were either smoking crack, smoking weed, or both, because they _really_ did get strange sometimes. Not to say that strangeness did give the show it's wacky character, but this episode is an example of something that probably shouldn't have made the cut.
I can’t believe how this crossed my mind as a kid
I didn’t even realise any of the sexual and weird imagery
Watching is freaking me out now I don’t know why
When I was younger I understood the dancing pole reference, but I never realized how fucked up the whole episode is until now
Edit: ok, so UA-cam is fucking stupid and it never notified me that this comment got SO MANY likes and replies.
Same
Same...
The more you think about it/realize it, the worse it gets
I dont think its that fucked up tho. The pole joke is the only thing thats an obvious adult reference but other than that, they're literally just utilizing finn as a source of energy because he doesnt seem to run out of it. I mean... for adventure time standards, thats not that weird and its at most wacky. I mean look at the times they made episodes that were fucked on purpose. Like that episode where jake loses his mind and pretends to have a surprise party.
I did not get it when I was a kid. That is hilarious genius on the writers.
Jake best friend moments:
- when he’s literally suffering in an alternative universe and all Jake wishes for is a sandwich
- when hes kidnapped and made to poll dance in front of a bunch of old midgets and Jake be dancing with bugs
- when he’s forced to *LIVE AN ENTIRE LIFE OF NOT OPENING HIS EYES AND IF HE EVER FAILS HE HAS TO LIVE THROUGH IT AGAIN* and Jake casually pulls pranks on him and forcing him to open his eyes.
Which episode is the last one?
@@thethethemososoki4555 Hall of Egress or something like that
Wait I don't remember that last one.
The third? Wtf, Jake?
Hall of Egress might be my favorite episode.

That's crazy I remember only Jake's too

That line got me worried

plot twist : finn has been held hostage there for the rest of his life and everything after that episode was a dream
😟😟 no cause theres a slight chance on that happening and it scares me
Interesting how my brain deleted 50% of this episode and I only remembered Jake's side of the episode
It's still better than the episode where a bee wanted to "pollinate" Finn's "flower" really bad. That scene with Finn and LSP still bothers me to this day but I completely forgot this episode.
Same. That got me so uncomfortable. The episode gave me "it is ok to make unwanted sexual/romantic advances on someone if it is a male" vibes

I only thank that bee for giving Finn's arm back.

The only thing holding this show back and going batshit crazy was that they had to keep it good for kids. Imagine the dark shit they would have written if it was tailored towards older teens and adults...
