I haven't found a good economical supplier for soybean hulls, and I'm just a hobbyist so I've been experimenting. I use whole corn for grain spawn because its easy to get and cheap here; so I tried just adding 15% rinsed whole corn to my bulk substrate (hardwood pellets & gypsum) and it works pretty well as a nitrogen supplement. I didn't notice any more contamination in my bags than wood + soybean hull. I pressure cook the substrate for 2.5 hrs at 15psi prior to inoculating. The highest percentage of corn I've added to a bag is ~%30 and it colonized fine and fruited.

Picked up a chestnut culture from 3F a few weeks back. Just put it to grain two days ago and wow is it an aggressive culture. Looking forward to trying out more!

I grow a lot of mushrooms in just straight cattle corn. Pressure cook them until they start getting soft but not mushy and do a run of straight corn. Try the oysters.

question . let’s say my mushrooms started pinning and i need to go take a plane and be out for 2 weeks . can i put it in the fridge while i come back and place it back to fruiting as soon as i get home ?

Other than changing the carbon / nitrogen ratio a minuscule amount, I can’t imagine how having bits of corn in there would matter.

@@FreshfromtheFarmFungiI used corn and wheat for my AIO bags with master's mix. I had approximately one bag contaminated in 300. I don't think there is any legitimate premise to this experiment.
If you are looking for a solid experiment for your channel, can you look into caramelization of grain spawn inhibiting growth of mycelium? I have personally been seeing that some of my AIO bags are not becoming inoculated from the LC in bags that have caramelized.

maybe whole kernels that would need a longer time @ higher temp to fully penetrate a thick dry corn grain... I've never heard this myth btw

Can we used mixed sawdust, (from different wood) for growing oyster mushroom. And what % of supplement in the substrate to be pasteurize not sterilize.

This question isn’t really related to the video but how do you get mycelium onto agar plates? I tried looking it up but nothing answered my question, hopefully you’ll be able to!

I bet you could time how long it takes to fill those two steel water containers, and then fill the bags directly from the hose with the use of a stopwatch… save some time
