You can google Aquaman in the DC universe. Some DC universes you can take Atlantean as a curriculum like Spanish. At some point when she became fish enough I am surprised her dad didn't send the JL an email. Or the Atlantean embassy. Most versions of Aquaman would drop everything if he knew of the situation. Same goes with Orca, if she didn't become a villain.
This is why Fanfiction exists and I am gonna write about Aquaman welcoming her to Atlantis and how she becomes an ambassador as well as one of their best athletes in Atlantian and underwater sports (if the clips of her playing lacrosse are anything)
That would all depend on if the world even knows that Atlantis is real, don't forget the newscast about Circe made it sound like people only recently learned about Themyscira. With the new DCU we don't know if Aquaman is active let alone public, and from what we do know about most of the supers in the DCU work for corporations or the government and Superman is the only major hero that isn't so can't call the Justice League. With all that and the show taking place a few months before Superman, there was likely NO ONE that Nina could go/be sent to that would have her best interests at heart when she was a child that they knew about. I get your point, but there is a bit you didn't consider with Nina's tragedy in this world with what we do know about the world and who is active/public.
Being an autistic kid in a small town, and was put into an even smaller high school, i can definitely relate to poor Nina's struggles...she deserved better
I mean, how many people just have Aquaman on speed dial? Unfortunately, a lot of people in this world would just be screwed because they didn't have access to what they needed
You're assuming the world knows about Atlantis during her childhood. From the newscast, it sounded like the world recently about Themyscira, so what would the odds be of them knowing about Atlantis over a decade before. If you want to add to Nina's tragedy, include that if she was born 20~ years later there would've been a place that they knew about that she could've been sent to where she could be happy and thrive.
@@kevin-2.1 I would agree but here's the thing, Weasel (despite not being a dumb animal) is still ignorant to whats happen til something triggers a memory Nina is self aware to her discrimination and didn't ask for the life that was given to her. A bit sexist to imply that it was the mother alone that could have protected and emotionally guided her. Especially with everything the dad did for her. There was no malice in his actions.
Not only was there no malice in his actions, this was a clear "damned if you do damned if you don't" situation. Whether she looked like a fish or had to lug an iron lung with her at all times would not have changed her situation. She'd just be bullied for different reasons.

Are we just gonna ignore the fact that her dad was one of the best dads in recent works of fiction? He unironically wanted the best for his daughter and never gave up on improving her life
I can never buy these kind of backstories where a character who has non-human traits gets treated like a disgusting freak by just about everyone despite being conventionally attractive and relatively socially normal. That isn't to say she WOULDN'T get a lot of bad attention. But not only would traditional bullies be far less common, but the majority of negative attention would be toxic general attention: people obsessing over her, objectifying her, wanting to research her to her detriment, trying to make her a gimmick, etc. The show goes out of its way to make her physically attractive. She doesn't even have an ugly face. But even if she looked ugly--like the show pretends--she'd get a lot of sympathetic attention. That's not even mentioning how stereotypical bullies would get absolutely raked over the coals by faculty and students alike for mistreating her. People with deformities or general disabilities get social culture protection as it is. For every heckler and stalker, there are people advocating for the mistreated. Again, that's not to say she'd have a healthy upbringing or social perception. But going strictly from what we see from her in the show, the more realistic reaction to her would be invasive media and other opportunists wanting to use her and her getting overwhelmed with both genuine and non-genuine appreciation. I think it's pretty symbolically represented by her being called a frog all the time. Sure, I could see why someone would say that but she clearly looks more like a fish. But instead of going for the realistic and obvious choice, they went for the possible but less likely.
Her entire backstory looked like an fanfiction of herself. The police shotting an unnarmed man in an situation where NOTHING BAD WAS HAPPENING. An metahuman getting bullied in an world of superheroes. She going to harmfull sports with an glass tank in the face. Her father, an man that could change the DNA from an human being wasnt smart enough to remove her from scholl as soon as he knew she was being bullied. It was all an cliche to make the "monsters" look better than humans
So did everyone thought she was born in the sea like king shark? truly wasnt expecting her being a metahuman also its a shame for her to go she was like this team’s abe sapien 😢
Saying her treatment by the world and her classmates are her father's fault is a gross misunderstanding of what bullying is all about. She would've been the target of discrimination and ridicule either way. Kids are cruel, whether she was a fish woman or had to carry an iron lung with her for the rest of her life doesn't matter to them. She'd be different and that would be reason enough.
I agree with a lot of the comments here. The video did not do Nina's father well. He was a loving father and did what any parent wanted to do for their child, to give them a happy life. I shouldn't even have to explain this as it should be obvious, but when the video stated that her father deprived her of any normal life, it was wrong. She was already subjected to it in the beginning, and it would have gone for two ways, she would have died, or she would have already spent her life alone in a tube. I will stand by her father and say he did a truly amazing and caring thjng for his love for his daughter.
The fact that they showed Nina's backstory beforef her assasination mission shows that she was trying to think about how humans are the worst kinds of monster's. And that this will be her defying moment.
He wants his daughter to Live! Not only surviving but living similarly to other children in their world, she wasn't born like them physically but that doesn't mean she deserves to be excluded from the wonderful things life can bring us.
All of the creature commandos had pretty messed up backstories, The bride was brought into this world by force to love Eric but fell for her creator, and Eric killed him and chased her for Centerise, GI was made to kill Nazis and moved forward in a world hard to understand, Weasel befriended Children but people saw him as monster and they captured him during a fire forced to watch those kids die, and Phosphorus was Doctor researching a Treatment that involves using Nuclear energy to eliminate cancer without harming the patient but made the terrible mistake of getting the funds from Rupert Thorn who killed his Wife and son and turning him into what we see now
You’d think that in a world with meta humans everywhere, like the Flash, people would be kinder to meta humans But it really makes you think why the Justice League even bothers helping such cruel and evil people
Well one of the descriptions Gunn gave for the universe DOES say that world considers metahumans "more of a problem", so if that's how the world is in the 2020's how much better do you think it was the past twenty or so years. We also don't know if the Justice League (as we think of them) even exists. Do we even know for sure if any Flash was active or public during Nina's childhood, all we know (from the showrunner) is that Wally exists based on the vision, but we don't know if there was ever a Jay or Barry.
If nina was half a rabbit or half a cat, that's one thing. Being half fish another. Nobody in DCU watched" Shape of Water" or "Cold Skin" 2017. There is sympathy fish people.😢

as an autistic person i think ninas father did the right thing. nina had a right to life, and if her father could give her the path to a life in which she could be happy, then he should. us disabled people do NOT deserve to die or be given up on just because we are different. i feel alienated, like nina. i struggle with my disorder, like nina. but i am happy. i have the chance to make a good life for myself, and so does she, and all the other disabled people out there. as long as we have a good quality of life id say we have a right to life judt like anyone else. nina got a loving father, she got to grow up and have an education and experience all the ups and downs of human life just as she should have. its sad what happened to her and how she feels, but that doesnt mean she should have died
I don't think is fair to call his father his tormentor as he did everything he could to help and support her. Also it is not clear that the mutation resulting from his father experiment worsten her life beyond what the condition she had from birth did
I think what hurts is that Batman appewred only after Dr. Phosphorous lost family. And he is or any other hero is no where for Nina. Because she is just a girl. No super powers, no evil drive. She's just a girl who wanted to be seen and loved.
I feel this unfairly paints Nina’s father. The condition Nina was born with was going to result in her being an outcast already. Nina’s father did what any loving parent would do and try anything they can to help their child in suffering, clearly the breathing apparatus wasn’t effective as we saw she struggled to walk with it. Yes, the experiment didn’t go exactly as planned but it was done with nothing but love and interest for the future of Nina
Metahuman bullying is so strange in a world of superheroes. If you live on a planet with mutants, aliens and superpowered beings, why would this one fish girl bother you so much? I get it when she still had the iron lung, but not after her transformation. Atlantis canonically exists in the DC universe. She can easily pass for an Atlantean, provided she can survive in salt water. And if no one else would have her (doubtful), she could try to ask Killer Croc for help. Sure, he's a monstrous cannibal, but most depictions of him are sympathetic to people who've had lives like him.
Does the world of the DCU KNOW about Atlantis, is Aquaman even active or known to the world? You can't just assume all the heroes you are active and known to public. Going by the newscast about Circe, it sounds like the world only relatively recently learned about Themyscira, so there is no guarantee that they just know about Atlantis at this point, let alone during her childhood.
Bro her story is bullshit. This is the world with batman and superman and aquaman. You gonna tell me with the HUNDREDS of people in the justice league and all the crazy stuff regular people see all the time in their world that she would be seen as that weird? Dude, that's like a tuesday there. She has the most normal backstory of the bunch.
Bro, the show takes place a few months before Superman's movie at time in that universe where heroes are more employees of corporations and governments than independent operatives, so there is NO Justice League and we have no idea if Aquaman is a public hero or if the world knows about Atlantis. And that's without considering how the world was 10-20 years before during her childhood, or how sometimes people are just assholes, bigots, or both.
Because she is different, sometimes that's all that's needed, odds are any unexplained major or just inconvenient events that happened in the area was pinned on her. Like Weasel getting the deaths of 27 pinned on him, only 8 were around him, so the deaths or disappearances of 19 other children from the area was pinned on him, for being different.
Bro i dont even know why Waller put her on that team for the mission. That was unfair in general. A pacifist fish person. Out of her element almost the whole season
something about watching this vid to learn her backstory (in this canon anyways), makes me have a huge urge to rewatch Collective Invention for no reason (of course nina had the sadder outcome).
Have to give it a dislike (thumbs down) since this is riddled with wrong info. The only person her dad stuck by her with unconditional love while her mother abandoned her and was willing to let her die. The father is portrayed as evil in this video for loving his child. (The Rare Apostle You need to do better, this is bad content and sloppy work).
A world filled with cracked super villains and the one everyone is worried about is the fish lady that can barely harm anyone and somehow Waller of all people got her?
I hate characters like the mother, nevermind our daughter, how about how this makes ME feel? She's one of those people who show more concern about what others think, than the wellbeing of her own daughter.
Awesome theory for Nina fans: Point 1. During her origin, her father says he fused her DNA with that of some aquatic creatures, but he didn't mention which ones. Nina's composition may very well include parts of Crustaceans, Cnidarians, Porifera, etc. All of these animal phyla have the ability to regenerate, and Nina may have this ability slowly. Point 2. Nina's blood spread more slowly throughout the scene, until it stopped completely, which may indicate the previous point, when the flesh had closed superficially. Point 3. Talking about the blood again, it spread incredibly quickly, which may actually be a defense mechanism, as if it were the ink of cephalopods (They also regenerate ), and Nina would just be fainting or faking death. Point 4. She didn't show any expression of death, just a basic face. Point 5. After the Commandos ended the mission, everyone left the place, with the exception of a few guards. They may have felt sorry for her and, while the main cast was away, helped Nina recover and hide, so she could live freely again. Point 6. Nina was the only character free of any crime or sin, so it would be extremely interesting for her to return in a more serious role, or even as a villain. The concept of "Evil Determination" from JoJo's can also be applied, where Nina would have a character evolution and would do anything for her objectives, including sacrificing other lifes. Conclusion: she can still return, and I already imagined a scenario for the return.

At some point when she became fish enough I am surprised her dad didn't send the JL an email. Or the Atlantean embassy. Most versions of Aquaman would drop everything if he knew of the situation. Same goes with Orca, if she didn't become a villain.
A bit of diplomacy and placement as a representative could've gone along way
Fr though, Aquaman would have been delighted to welcome her into Atlantis.
I think JL was not thing yet when Nina was in school
Literally when I saw her backstory my first thought was simply, Call Aquaman right fucking Now! But no....
I mean, how many people just have Aquaman on speed dial? Unfortunately, a lot of people in this world would just be screwed because they didn't have access to what they needed
@@rosesweetcharlotteto be fair, the Hall of Justice is a public monument to the Justice League and they do visit it occasionally.
She was in Star City - Flash should have gotten to her before Waller did.
@@korsekil u mean Green Arrow? Flash is from central city
It’s official, Nina has the saddest backstory out of all the creature commandos
I would say her’s is a tie between her and a Weasel’s.
@@kevin-2.1 I would agree but here's the thing, Weasel (despite not being a dumb animal) is still ignorant to whats happen til something triggers a memory
Nina is self aware to her discrimination and didn't ask for the life that was given to her. And her reward was making friends who died off, pushed her aside and being stabbed.
If the show gets a second season, Bride better show a vulnerable side to herself cuz so far it feels like she didn't care
@@fanofmediastuff269 Ok I understand that Weasel isn’t focus on much (except epi 4), but he can’t explain what had happened to those children. Which makes it even more heartbreaking. As for Nina, yes she got more problems than before but as she runs away from them. They hunt her down and execute her father ☠️💔. So for me, I say they are both characters have tragic backstories.
@@kevin-2.1Nah, Weasel's story is irrelevant.

This guy really trying to claim that her dad was anything but an incredible parent. Just look at his last words to her!!!
It still sucks that they killed her off.
Yep 😢
She can still come back due to the Mummy
The mummy guy healed her in the comics. Maybe this one can bring her to life
@@josephdent6825 I hope that happens but I don’t think it will happen
@@uria3679 if the evil bisnatch can come back so can Nina. yes
People who are harassing and bullying her are the real monsters
So did everyone thought she was born in the sea like king shark? truly wasnt expecting her being a metahuman also its a shame for her to go she was like this team’s abe sapien 😢
I did
For some reason I thought she was a princess
Saying her treatment by the world and her classmates are her father's fault is a gross misunderstanding of what bullying is all about.
She would've been the target of discrimination and ridicule either way.
Kids are cruel, whether she was a fish woman or had to carry an iron lung with her for the rest of her life doesn't matter to them.
She'd be different and that would be reason enough.

Idk why didn't they called Batman to determine if Circe was lying or not?
@@GabeKis-fz8tnThat's simple, Waller is scared of him

Why would Aquaman be in Star City. Plus chances are Atlantis is still a hidden kingdom. Like Wakanda.

She’s a sweetheart
It annoys me when a hottie like this somehow gets bullied.
this is cartoon, of course she look cute, but when in real life probably otherwise.
No, no fishsussy!
@@redcat6364you sound like one of those bullies bro
He wants his daughter to Live! Not only surviving but living similarly to other children in their world, she wasn't born like them physically but that doesn't mean she deserves to be excluded from the wonderful things life can bring us.
All of the creature commandos had pretty messed up backstories, The bride was brought into this world by force to love Eric but fell for her creator, and Eric killed him and chased her for Centerise, GI was made to kill Nazis and moved forward in a world hard to understand, Weasel befriended Children but people saw him as monster and they captured him during a fire forced to watch those kids die, and Phosphorus was Doctor researching a Treatment that involves using Nuclear energy to eliminate cancer without harming the patient but made the terrible mistake of getting the funds from Rupert Thorn who killed his Wife and son and turning him into what we see now
You’d think that in a world with meta humans everywhere, like the Flash, people would be kinder to meta humans
But it really makes you think why the Justice League even bothers helping such cruel and evil people
They are justice league not authority.the authority are technically anti justice league
There is sympathy fish people.😢
i kinda cried inside my head to see her dead she didn't deserve this she deserve better her names remind me of a long lost person i know before nina was also the names a dog pet my family once owned and hear that creature commando had a character names nina remind me that long lost pet dog and see our dear nina mazursky dead is even more sad to know this cycle continue..sorry for this share of feeling but really that poor thing our dear nina Mazursky deserved better.
She deserves better than this
as an autistic person i think ninas father did the right thing. nina had a right to life, and if her father could give her the path to a life in which she could be happy, then he should. us disabled people do NOT deserve to die or be given up on just because we are different. i feel alienated, like nina. i struggle with my disorder, like nina. but i am happy. i have the chance to make a good life for myself, and so does she, and all the other disabled people out there. as long as we have a good quality of life id say we have a right to life judt like anyone else. nina got a loving father, she got to grow up and have an education and experience all the ups and downs of human life just as she should have. its sad what happened to her and how she feels, but that doesnt mean she should have died
I don't think is fair to call his father his tormentor as he did everything he could to help and support her. Also it is not clear that the mutation resulting from his father experiment worsten her life beyond what the condition she had from birth did
He loved her but also experimented with her and turned her into a hybrid, I think that both things can coexist
@@xCoatlicuex tbf, it was out of desperation to give her a better life.
And after that he still tried as much as he can to give help and love her.
Similar to Weasel’s backstory with a-hole police
I cried almost the whole time
Metahuman bullying is so strange in a world of superheroes.
1. Children are cruel and stupid. That's just universal.
2. Croc isn't actually a crocodile. He's just a guy with a skin condition.
A little weird that they would change her backstory so much. In the comics, she was the doctor and she experimented on herself.
God bless everyone.
i would hate to see what this guy considers a unloving parent
If she never committed crimes why was she sent to belle reve
Because she is different, sometimes that's all that's needed, odds are any unexplained major or just inconvenient events that happened in the area was pinned on her. Like Weasel getting the deaths of 27 pinned on him, only 8 were around him, so the deaths or disappearances of 19 other children from the area was pinned on him, for being different.
Little innocent Nina, didnt deserve the life she got, didnt deserve death.
She didn't deserve to be on Earth Surface. She needed to be handed over to Atlantis, they could of helped her.
Aquaman should of stepped in
You know in a kinder story…she could probably (heavy probably) be good friends with Killer Croc. Both can relate
I hope Nina becomes as beloved and popular as Rebecca in the long term
Bro i dont even know why Waller put her on that team for the mission. That was unfair in general. A pacifist fish person. Out of her element almost the whole season
I never seen that sad to see any character with sad story
I'd say this is more tragic than that one episode of DanDaDan
Fr bro dandadan kinda mid

Dandadan mid as fuck
something about watching this vid to learn her backstory (in this canon anyways), makes me have a huge urge to rewatch Collective Invention for no reason (of course nina had the sadder outcome).
I would've been friends wth Nina, nobody deserves to be treated like a monster.
And yet she's so adorable.
Ooooohh my poor little cinnamon roll. I just wanna hug Nina and keep her safe forever 😢
The humans are the real monsters in Creature Commandos.

Awesome theory for Nina fans:
Point 1.
Conclusion: she can still return, and I already imagined a scenario for the return.
one the times im like come on comic book logic and bring her back to life!!!
How sad.
She could have just gone to live in Atlantis 😔
Meanwhile in reality everybody would be getting in line to score that
