santoor has one of the sweetest sound.
Master of santoor
I hadn't known that such great santoor legends are born in our nation
So wonderful to have a technical demonstration of a genre and instrument that is usually portrayed as impenetrably complex! Thank you!
Thank you for posting this video. The santur is played in many countries, from India to Persia and from there to Greece and Romania....and in America. It has a very interesting travel history! In itself a beautiful tale! Its echo fills the universe.
Best video for beginners. This video is one of a kind. I am self- taught, and this video has been very useful.
Thank you, Mr Nitin Pandit.
How did you teach it yourself? I would love to learn this. Please let me know how to get started
Desai sir I'm from Gujarat, please guide me ....I want to learn Santoor

I d like to see a video on the sitting position and on how to place the santur correctly on the legs. I think it is very important.
Thank you.Superb effort to teach..
I got a tuning recipe that gives all sharps & flats on right side and all the naturals on the left. I can't imagine playing most of the notes in the melody with my left hand! Can I get any advice? Thank You!

Hello everybody looking for a description of the instrument tuning please
Thank you !
I wish to know if u can teach online.
Thank u brother
Thank u so much for this.. Although I understand u are using English terms for everyone to be able to understand, we would get a better flavour if u told us the real names ...such as for "wooden strikers"
And it's pure magic when u play it!!
What about the Persian santoor?
Santour is
Iranian (Persian) instrument not Indian
Yes is originated from Persia but travelled the world, all the instruments in history travelled the world, like some Persian instruments like the Ney(the oldest examples comes from egypt) or even the tambour or Setar comes from ancient Sumerian gish-gu-di and also the ancient Egypt Nefer, so every instruments comes from other culture but with time it adapted to the territory and traditions of the place, and that makes music great because it's free to travel and create beyond cultures 😁
Of course it's Iranian. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Santur
@@tomasparra720 TAR means string in persian, all instruments with strings are originally from iran. Do some research and please do not rewrite the history
Great sounds good day
Can someone here suggest where one can buy a decent pro class quality Santoor instrument in Mumbai? Preferably a link to a site would be greatly helpful. I'd like to buy one. Thank you.
Raaga kirwani🤩
I was just tasked with being in charge of finding and buying an Santur. I live in Texas. I didn’t happen to find any local, but there are 102 on eBay from $300-$3000.
Since I know nothing about them, what I’d difference between Indian and Persian santur/Santoor? Is there any place in america that I can buy them? What should one pay for them?
The Persian is bigger than the indian
@@edgar_annapurna both sounds different and Indian santoor has more strings.
For your kind information santoor is an Iraqi instrument not indian.
Are you serious? Santoor is an ancient iranian instrument. All instruments with strings are originally from iran, TAR means string in persian
Iraqi instrument!? 😃
It's iranian but this it was modified in India
Isnt it better to tune Chromatic? Or else need to retune for different Raga each time?
Dear tacher, how are you! Please explain how to tune the string? Thank you very much!
Sir, I want to learn santoor. Pls let me know whether you teach online? Pls share your contact

Nitinji, where u made your instrument?
Persian santor
👍👍👍👍👍
It's not an Indian instrument. It's an Iranian one en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Santur
It is known as shat tantri veena
In ancient sanskrit texts amd was present before the persian one
So it has indian origin
@@Zayn_Priyadarshin Even the Indian Santoor wiki says that it's originated in Mesopotamia/Iran en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Santoor
@@Zayn_Priyadarshin Just listen to Iranian Santur then you'll realise when it was originated ua-cam.com/video/cMD3yStVZj8/v-deo.html&ab_channel=65Fardad

@@Nikhil_Nerlekar you arevwrong brother, we have santoor written in Avesta which is estimated to be 5 000 years old, yo can do a search on google if you like :)
@@Nikhil_Nerlekar so why are you using the name santoor if the original name is Shata Tantri Veena? It doesn't make any sense
@@Nikhil_Nerlekar ok friend, i will play some santoor later tonight and i will dedicate it to mother India 🙂❤🇮🇷
@@Nikhil_Nerlekar i would love to try the indian santoor, it looks and sounds interesting but i don't think I'm gonna be able to find it here in iran. I'm gonna plan a trip to india as soon as this covid-19 situation is solved. How does it work in india are there santoor master makers and how much does a good santoor costs?
@@Nikhil_Nerlekar here in iran santoors and other classical instruments as kamanche , tar ,setar, tanbour can cost a lot and the masters who build them are very famous and they're treated with a lot of respect
