M42 Turbo Long Block Build for Lani's E30

Stock BMW M42 motor rebuild motor with cometic head gasket, arp head studs and a slight port job which was not filmed. Plan is to run the motor in my girlfriends 1986 BMW E30 318i Sedan originally fitted with an M10B18. Follow the build series as we transform this car to a mild turbo street/track day car.

Hey buddy,
the E on the Intake cam means Einlass (Intake in german) and the A on the exhaust cam means Auslass (Exhaust in German as well) ;) nice build btw.

I just bought a m42 and there’s not a lot of content on these engines weird enough I’m searching through many forms and weird videos this is the only one I can sit and watch please keep the content coming and do you mind build list or parts would be Helpful thank you!!!!

Isn't there even forum for m42? I think you can find info from forums but there should be more youtube content. I would like to watch indepd video for stroking m42 there is just bunch of dyno stuff

@@rikkarokassa yeah every forum just says to swap the engine for a m50, In my Situation I don’t have money for that so I am rebuilding the motor and now I personally understand why a lot of bmw enthusiasts gate keep its fucking tiring going through all the forums, researching and just a lot of trial and error. Good news is my car starts up just smoke now.

@@OO-wp1kq here m50 are going for 500-1000e depending is it plug&play or just engine or something but m42 are also really expensive plug&play sets so wires and whole engine is 600-800e. Because they are pretty rare only in 318is models. They are really good tho because they are light and have good head so I will keep mine and rebuild at some point probably to stroker while I'm at it and maybe small turbo if I got money.
