My Grandmother was born in 1912 in Ireland.. As a little girl in 1920 she witnessed an IRA ambush against British forces who were causing havoc here during the Irish war of Independence.. Heard the screams of dying men and gunshots.. The Crown forces burned down homes and shot people as reprisals in the aftermath. She saw this also.
In her lifetime, she lived through WW1, the Irish war of Independence, The Irish Civil war. The Spanish flu, which wiped out whole communities. WW2, the Cold war and all the madness of the 20th Century.
Her Husband, my grandfather, died young. Leaving her with 4 small children, the eldest was only 7... She had a tough, tough life..
She died in 2007 at the age of 95.
I remember asking her, shortly before she died how she coped with so much hardship..
She replied, very simply, but profoundly.
" I never stopped trusting God"
She then said, never abandon God because he'll never abandon you.. Life lesson if ever I heard one.
Wow.. a true role model! My grandmother was also from Ireland, born in 1930. They are a different, tough, and resilient breed! I can only strive to be as strong as she was. RIP to both!

Being a Combat Medic in the Army, if that’s what you choose, is not all what it seems to be. Trust me. I just left. You will be a Glorified Mechanic for the most part. Join the Private sector. If something kicks off, they will draft you and place you in the same position. The Military is a mess. Take my advice and stay out of it.

I remember in the late 80s my armored infantry unit in West Germany was assembled. We were training to fight in the Fulda gap. I looked out the gunners hatch of my Bradley infantry fighting vehicle and all around me, as far as I could see through the dust was a sea of tanks and other armored vehicles. Then in the blink of an eye the wall between East and West Germany crumbled. The world can really change in the blink of an eye thank God

So many times I have:borrowed" your line about how the Old Testament has the scary stories and today is just another example! Amos tells the people what God wants told and they reject him. Much can be learned in this passage; yes, God is merciful, but He also is just. Today, we get a glimpse of the consequences when we ignore Him - or His messengers!

There are weeks when I feel that the sense of normality is only restored for about one hour and that's during Mass.

Without sounding too non chalent about this: I grew up in the 60s and 70s. We lived in fear every day worryingly awaiting the apocalypse. Thank God it never came about. Now, maybe because of reflection or pessimism, I can't believe something terrible will happen. I really hate those who do nothing but worry out loud. Quack, Quack, Quack. Do us all a favor and take your Rosary and do as Our Lady Demands. Pray for peace.
Me too. I remember ALL of it. I wish I didn't. Remember how our grandparents and great-grandparents only talked about wars and the Great depression and how our parents talked about being kids during the depression. How there was nothing . barely any food. And thank God for the vegetable garden and the chickens and the cows in their backyards or for the victory gardens. And what the news pumped into the living room @ 6 & 10! wars atrocities, body counts and riots in this country, everything going on in foreign countries. No little kid should have had that in front of their face all evening long. It was constant fear

Well, unfortunately many people are confused and don’t know what’s going on and they have no clarity of mind anymore.
The hierarchy of our church are also involved in confusion.
I can’t dislike these people because they’re a human, but I do not want to listen to them, unless they speak the words of Jesus Christ.
The words of Jesus Christ, is what makes us alive.
The church complicates things I think it’s very important to go back to the Bible and pray and communicate deeply with our Lord.
Remember God’s word… Scripture… Praying…. These things will help clarify.
Plus love love love your family follow the 10 Commandments follow the beatitudes.
Stop only following rules.
And start praying start indulging in the Lord God Jesus Christ.
Stop getting distracted by mystics and stories of distractions.
Become that person yourself.
Don’t always look at everybody else doing it.
Do it yourself. We’re sitting here watching things,
but we’re not following by doing we must be doing and loving.
I would prefer to hear only about Jesus Christ and his apostles and his words and delve deeply into them.
I really think the devil loves to distract us with holy things, and he would rather us not talk directly to Jesus
He would rather us pay attention to anything else.
We must have a relationship with Jesus and that’s it.
We’re supposed to be delving in tonight in ourselves with Jesus Christ not by listening to everybody else’s information that’s skewed out there.
We’re in a bind at a rut in the Catholic Church, because we don’t do that enough. We’re too focused on exteriors I think we’ve had enough of that don’t you?
I understand what you are saying. It's a call to refuge in Christ's Heart, which is essential. Interior peace is essential. I feel very much centered in Christ as I listen to these podcasts. Peace!

When I brought my confusion about which bishop to believe and which not, my Spiritual Director strongly suggested that I (a) go back to the basics; (b) read Scripture, especially the Old Testament; and (c) develop my own PERSONAL relationship with Jesus. That was several years ago and it's been working just great! 🙏

@@Gftlbt I'll check it out, thank you. God has (among everything else!) a great sense of timing. I facilitate a Eucharist Revival program in the Men's Group in my parish. Just two nights ago, through Chris Stefanick (in a video) we heard how Jesus did not choose the Cross for us to love Him, but to show us how much He loves us! We are all His sisters and brothers.
