- This is my first diy project. It was an idea that i had, as the dartboard lights started to be selling. I was thinking that i could do one for cheaper.
Now that it is finished, i have an other idea on how to do it better. An Hoola Hoop Ring cutted in half will save you lots of time

ok, i thougt about it long time, i decide to buy gymnastic ring called Hula Hoop with 65cm diamater. I hope that it will be good :D

I could not find anything to wrap the pvc around to make the ring. Instead I used a piece of 3/4" PEX tubing. I wrapped it in a circle and added a little heat to make the ring as round as I could get it. I then secured the ends with a plastic union and put rivets in to secure it. I put one rivet in each end and flipped the ring over and did the same to the other side. I then used a Harbor Freight Oscillating Multi-Tool with a 3-1/2 in. High Speed Steel Multi-Tool Half-Moon Blade to cut it in half. I also cut through the plastic union. This tool setup is much safer than the dremel. The result is two halves that can be used to make two lights. I then cut 1" strips of sheet metal and riveted four of them to the PEX ring. To attach the ring to the board simply slide/insert the sheet metal legs just inside the steel ring of the dart board. You can buy the LED light at WalMart look for "MagicTV USB LED Mood Light for TVs, PCs or Home" or on Amazon look up "MagicTV USB LED TV Backlight, Moodlight - Remote Control Included". I will probably paint the ring black as it glows a little now.

Hi, I was just wondering if these could be made square ?? I have a Harrows dart cabinet and and am thinking of cutting 4 lengths with 45 degree corners and putting the leds inside that. I am thinking it should work ? Thoughts

what kind of LED lights they are using? How many Kelvins and how many Watts ?
philip shears and I made the original target 360 ring fitted with magnets to easily swap between soft and steel boards...before corona added it 😄. Are the corona ring non steel? The flaw I've discovered with original are bounce-outs getting knicked from the ring itself.

Inner diameter is 63 cm. What You think about bicycle 27" wheel for that? Only remove spokes - i think is faster and u have the perfect circle
Shaft that is agreat idea. it is lightweight and easy to fix on. eventually go on bigger diameter like 29" so you have more liberty to throw and remove the Darts
@@brunotroia no, just cut a rim and make 270° like mission Torus done his light already.
Leave 4 spokes, will be great to fix into dartboard
Dont need pvc, kids hulahop ring already! Or wheel rim 24 or 26 inch.
For the cost of the Dremel, pipe and fixings it’s cheaper to buy a purpose made ring light. If you already have a dremel it may worth a stab, but otherwise a false economy. A decent darts specific LED ring light costs as little as £60

There are connectors for round pipes, after joining the 2 ends i simple glued them together

I measured the surround to know how long should be my pvc pipe

Willem Zeeman i haven't nedded screws because its fixed between the Board and the surround. of course if you haven't a surround than you have to fix it on the board or in the wall
Have you thought about glueing rare earth magnets to the inside of the support arms, they're supposed to be very powerful?
Use the bike wheel spokes. Even whole bike rim 24 or 26 inch ...leave 4 spokes and stick into dartboard

I don't remember exactly how long i did my supports, i think about 30cm.

Did you cut this hula hoop same as him or just stick the light strim on the back of hula hoop?
@@bestpeter78 no I cut mine in half using your cut off wheel on a grinder put the LED lights inside the channel

Good idea but it doesn’t look like a perfect circle
270° better, not 360. Easy acces to pull out your darts. This is what mission torus done. £65 and pro light not wasting a time and money for this diy crap
