Great start up tutorial. I have ordered my Grizzly Desert Plunge and await the delivery. After doing the icebath by homemade block ice for 5 months, I'm so looking forward to my insulated tub and chiller upgrade.
Almost 60 years old and God has opened my eyes to the spiritual, mental and physical benefits of cold plunge.
Thanks Again...💪🙏💪
This one is my favorite you have reviewed. Im disabled and utilize cold plunge for my pain, anxiety, and inflammation unfortunately it’s expensive to do I looked into purchasing one but way out of reach.
Thank you for the amazing review
Stay Blessed ✌🏻
Great Review David.. you are spot on with everything. I have been a Desert Plunge owner for about 6 months now. Matt and Brie really stand behind their plunges with some old school customer service that is rarely seen these days. Do not hesitate to get one you'll enjoy the heck out of it as I do.
Love this testimony! Thank you!
Great review. Just bought one. Super friendly people at desert plunge!
Another thorough and helpful review! Thanks David.
My pleasure!
Can't wait for your creators playbook!
Great review! Thanks for including Desert Plunge. I’m trying to decide between this plunge and going with an Ice Barrel DIY setup.
Thank you for the support!
Excellent review. I was getting ready to buy one and now it’s a no brainer. Spent few hours looking at endless tubs to purchase. Desert Plunge seems to be slam, I mean cold dunk!!
Dave, thanks for reviewing this great plunge. I've spoken with Brie, she is super knowledgeable and very enthused about their high quality product. I will be purchasing one in the next month.
You were one of the many who encouraged the connection. Thanks for the continued support and engagement. Means the world to
Love your videos so keep up the good information. I do have a request, can you please to a comparison video between the Desert Plung and the ModTub. I want to start my journey with the cold but not sure what to get and those two are the ones I might be able to afford. I know they are almost the same but I would like to know which one you would spend the money on.
How cold does it get with the 1/4 HP chiller? Thanks for the review.
Great review!!
Thank you! Cheers!
What a great set of features. Glad I came across the hose filter, that's a great tip! Would be nice if the big marketing company that makes that cooler with steps included that ;)
Great point!
What has a thicker wall between this and the new Barrel 500? Are either of them capable of staying cooler longer, or is it a toss up?
Hi Dave. What is the model of the pump and the ozone generator they use ? Thanks again in advance
David which pump does the desert plunge uses? Is there a way you could list all the components? Thank you
Now we just need the Ice barrel chiller review 😏 even though I bought it already with your code!
How about an absolute zero review?
Dang Dave, I LITERALLY just sat down from putting my modtub together and I see this video!😂! Seems almost identical to this one, still watching to the end to see the differences. The ozone option is different, but seems really close to mine.
Super similar! Just showing the options to the world. Want to help everyone get cold and find the perfect setup for themselves. Enjoy yours!
Where can I get the stainless steel filter for this?
Awesome video
Thanks!
Great review!
Quick question do you think you can use a smart plug with a water chiller?
Thank you! I dont see why not. Is you goal to just run this certain times a day? They are really made to be left on 24/7, keeps the water moving, cleaner and it will stay cold. The chiller turns off after it reaches your set temp
@@DavidMausJr I go out of town a lot so I was just thinking might be good just in case I forget to turn off the chiller.
But I do always leave my filter and pump running 24/7.
Seems like the best bang for the buck
Solid option!
Hey Dave to Iive in an apartment 1st floor and I have a patio but I don’t have a hose! Is it okay if I just take buckets and manually dump water into this thing without having to use the filter you showed us? God bless Dave!
Totally bro! They make attachments for sink faucets too that might take less work. Appreciate you!
Most of these cold plunges are very similar. Out of all the ones you've done, which one comes in first?
This vs. the Mod, they seem very very similar. Do you have a preference?
Besides the ozone, will you need any other sanitization chemicals for it?
You really don’t but could
Thanks for the speedy reply good sir!@@DavidMausJr
Hey David, the lid lock is standard on the Grizzly 400 coolers, although the one you showed is thicker compared to the stock one. I think mod plunge removed it because others have stated that it rusts over time, especially with ozone I'm guessing.
Desert Plunge uses a Stainless Steel lid lock, no rust.
Yes, we have these custom made out of rust proof stainless!
@@jaycohen5482 The ones on the Grizzly 400 are also stainless upon checking mine, but I'm not quite sure why some people are saying they rust over time.
must be new, I know a bunch of people who have older coolers they have been using that dont have that. Cool feature though either way!
@@SuperSushiRoll Yeah, I got mine back in Oct, and they are stainless. Do like the custom design though on the these ones
Can I just replace the ModTub filter with the filter you just mentioned?
I don’t see why not!
Can you attach the active aqua 1hp to this without changing anything else?
For sure but why would you want to? Don’t think it will be needed
What’s the difference between the desert plunge and the regular mod tub plunges?
Hopefully a bidding war to get them closer to 2k😊
Many similarities, but from being able to review both here are the major differences:
Modtub has multiple color options on the cooler itself, but they currently dont have a pre-filter and the pump is susceptible to breaking (ive had 3 break) from hair wrapping up around the pump blade. They also use a micron filter which needs to be replaced about every 1-2 weeks for me.
Desert Plunge has 2 color options (grey and tan) BUT, has a lid latch to keep the lid from accidentally slamming on you or your kids (mine use the plunges all the time), they come with a pre filter, a better pump (in my opinion), a sediment filter which should last longer, and optional ozone built in which i LOVE.
Both are great, I hope this helps.
@@DavidMausJr would you go with ice barrel 500 , 300 or desert plunge? If i go ice barrel, I’ll buy now and wait later for there chiller
Hey I’m located in Arizona, I found an ice barrel 300 for a great deal. Would 1/4 hp be enough to keep the plunge cold with hot temps here? Thanks for the most informative plunge channel👍
Awesome! You may want to go 1/2 just to be safe. Thanks for the love!
@@DavidMausJrhow about a review of the absolute zero chiller?
Right on, does the difference in hp control the ability to reach low temps? Or just how hard it’ll have to work to keep temps low? I’m looking to keep the plunge below 40 degrees.
Thanks for the help!
@@user-tk3ly4re5n The insulation makes the difference. The HP wont change the temp, just the time to get it there at first. These can get to 39.
Great review. Approximately how long does it take to get cold in 100 degree weather?
Depends. If during peak sunny hours it may take 6-8 hours. Over night it would more than likely chill quicker.
@@DavidMausJr Thank you for your reply. Ok would you recommend turning on the chiller the night before for an AM plunge or should one keep it on 24/7 so the chiller doesn’t have to work so hard to get cold every evening? Looking to maximize my electric efficiency.
Does the desert cold plunge also provide heat? Or just cold
Just cold.
Replace that sediment filter with a stainless steel mesh filter. Buy two and swap them every two weeks so you never have to buy filters again.
Also add another 2 1/2 inch stainless steel mesh filter for a sink as the pre filter. The holes are tighter and will work better than the plastic 🙏🏻
Great tip! I am a huge fan of stainless steel mesh filters. All i use on the DIYs
@@DavidMausJryeah I have a mod tub and I bought the paper filters at first for the GE housing but I found a 50 micron stainless steel mesh filter that fits perfectly and I just swap jt out with a clean one every two weeks so I never have to buy the paper ones again. It’s crazy what the mesh pre filter catches though before it even gets to the main filter. Everyday I clear mine out before I plunge and there’s hair or fuzz in it.
Where can I find the stainless steel mesh filter?
Hi, thanks for the review, however here's where the question comes in the place...Which one is better, MUDTUB or a DESERT PLUNGE and why?
(Long answer) I will never tell anyone what to buy, I just want to give you all the info to make the best decision for yourself. However, I did just publish a video after my experience reviewing over 18 cold plunges and I do talk about this question. Check that one out if you haven't already. (short answer, i would go DP as they have multiple enhancements over the Mod)
Will this fit through my door frame , ?
I believe it will. My frame is 33 inches but I’m. Worried about the back copanents ? Can they get removed to fit the box through?
Great Video, Is this WiFi enabled?
Thank you! This is not.
Desert Plunge vs ModTub?
Just giving options, I had a lot of inquiries about reviewing the Desert Plunge and glad I did. There are some key differences just in my first impressions. Will have follow up videos for sure.
How tall are you?
6'1" with a 28" tall back (from tailbone to shoulders)
@@DavidMausJr thanks. I think I like this 1
David, I love your whole style and gig, but the 30 second non skippable ads are enough to make me stop watching
Thanks for the feedback! I don’t know how to stop those? I pay for YT premium personally to avoid them myself. Is there another way?
is there any cold plunges that come with spa jets??
I use an aquarium circulator. It works great and it's setup to a smart outlet, so I use google to turn it on/off.
The modtub and desert plunge is basically the same thing. Is there a difference between the two and which one do you prefer? @DavidMausJr
