My mama made this with a few changes. We love it. Instead of Doritos, she used fritos and for the dressing she mixed together La Victoria taco sauce and miracle whip. When she passed on, I sent out a copy of her handwritten recipe to the women in the family. Nothing keeps a family together more than time spent together eating food that brings back memories of those we love. Thank you for sharing. These are truly cherished videos.
We always use ranch dressing in ours, we also but black olives and canned mushrooms alone with just regular plain nacho chips. But to be honest I usually picked out the olives and the mushrooms too if I could see them. LOL but the taco seasoning then homemade RANCH dressing made it HMMMMM I can taste it now!!!

This lady reminds me so much of my dear old Aunt Libby. Our family would drive down to North Carolina every summer, and spend a couple weeks visiting with her. That little old lady was my favorite Aunt. She could cook like you wouldn’t believe, and she made the absolute best sweet iced tea in the world! We lost Aunt Libby many years ago, but I still think of her often. Give that sweet MawMaw of yours a hug, Cory. P.s. Taco salad is one of my favorite things to eat! I usually put Italian dressing on mine. It's nice seeing you enjoying the gifts that subscribers have sent.
Italian or Balsamic is what my husband prefers . He pours it lightly over his whole plate, while I usually have a little ranch or French on the side to dip. Our son usually likes avocado-lime crema or a cilantro- lime dressing. So I never dress my salads.😊

We put salsa & a dollop of sour cream on top. we don't use French or Catalina dressing salsa instead❣️ I'm going to try French on top to see if I like it❣️💕🥰

I have 6 of those bowls 😂😂 When u cook, i cook for lots of people too. I love feeding people. It comes in handy for big canning too lol. During the holidays, i bake lots of different breads and they are my go to bowls for quadrupling recipes ❤❤ I grew up in California and we called this Matador salad. We use doritos too because it's dang good and my mom would cook kidney beans in the taco meat. I make it without the beans (not my taste 😝) lol. We also used thousand island dressing but now use ranch or thousand island. It's so good! God bless y'all!
Susie do you know where to find canning supplies? I need another (I call it metal dish pan bc we always washed dishes in them, my mom doesn’t let anything go down the sink at all 😂). And our sifting kettle that we run tomatoes thru for tomato juice is older than I am and the screw isn’t holding the blade in tight enough. My Mom started making this in the 70's..she used Catalina dressing though and added black olives....You can share your leftovers with the fire station...
My aunt would make taco salad to drink the holidays the best ever her dressing would have like five or seven different layers than she would mix it all up before pouring it on there when everyone was ready to eat she also would add a few kidney beans don't think anyone could make a taco salad is good as Aunt Julie's I'm sure it was all in her dressing she probably had a Catalina French taco sauce who knows what else in there I don't know how she got so many layers must have been oil vinegar and the such

I remember my momma making this all the time when we were growing up. She's now 71 and has altered lots of her recipes due to her health but she can still cook her behind off. I am so glad I found this channel.

I have 6 of those bowls 😂😂 When u cook, i cook for lots of people too. I love feeding people. It comes in handy for big canning too lol. During the holidays, i bake lots of different breads and they are my go to bowls for quadrupling recipes ❤❤
I grew up in California and we called this Matador salad. We use doritos too because it's dang good and my mom would cook kidney beans in the taco meat. I make it without the beans (not my taste 😝) lol. We also used thousand island dressing but now use ranch or thousand island. It's so good! God bless y'all!
Susie do you know where to find canning supplies? I need another (I call it metal dish pan bc we always washed dishes in them, my mom doesn’t let anything go down the sink at all 😂). And our sifting kettle that we run tomatoes thru for tomato juice is older than I am and the screw isn’t holding the blade in tight enough. So I’ve been looking for canning supplies to find these things. Thanks for any info you can share with me❤️❤️🔆
My Mom started making this in the 70's..she used Catalina dressing though and added black olives....You can share your leftovers with the fire station...
It's just not the same without the Catalina.

My aunt would make taco salad to drink the holidays the best ever her dressing would have like five or seven different layers than she would mix it all up before pouring it on there when everyone was ready to eat she also would add a few kidney beans don't think anyone could make a taco salad is good as Aunt Julie's I'm sure it was all in her dressing she probably had a Catalina French taco sauce who knows what else in there I don't know how she got so many layers must have been oil vinegar and the such

I sure will make this, but only 1/3 of the recipe. Yummy! Mamaw reminds me so much of my Mamaw and Mama! I am 72 and miss them every day, numerous times each day! Also what earns my respect so far, is that Grandmother acknowledged the suffering and compassion and understanding of the Native American Indigenous people. It is a sweetness and true open heart that she acknowledges the fundamental relationship we have with nature. Without nature and respect for nature we are NOTHING. Interdependence with EVERYTHING is something we have to accept. We have to examine ourselves. You also have to acknowledge you are privileged to live in a free country. To practice your religious beliefs. It’s not terrible here. Keep going on in love and say your prayers. Pray for peace and abide in love.

Thank you! I was sitting here driving myself nuts trying to think of his name. I knew it was something Cody, but couldn't for the life of me remember the Iron Eyes part. Those commercials always made me feel so sad. I learned later that he was actually an Italian-American actor who was born Espera Oscar de Corti. He played many Native American roles throughout his career. He was in his 90s when he died.

I have a lot of health issues and been in and out of the hospital several times for the last four months, I praise God for having a loving husband and a wonderful next door neighbor that cans and checks up on me while my husband is at work, she also makes sure I have something to eat for dinner. Not many people do that anymore for their neighbors. And I’ve been going to VBS with her and her family this week, my neighbors are such a blessing, we are always checking up on each other.
