I use a stepped cone drill bit and drill out the end cap on my throttle tubes to run fasst anti vibration inserts and full wrap hand guards. The stepped bit i use goes up to 1 inch but has a 7/8th inch step. Unless your not perfectly centered it works like a dream.

I didn't know odi had that one with the bearing and seals. Gonna have to try it out soon
Just got one of the tusk ones. Just installed it and LOVE how smooth it is. The BIG problem that no one talks about is that it doesn’t seem like anyone makes a “lock on” type grip for the clutch side and a traditional glue on type for the throttle side, which is what you need for any aftermarket tube that doesn’t include a grip. NOT even answer/pro taper makes a set like that even though they also make a bearing throttle tube. I bought the lock on and a traditional set of Pro Taper “pillow top” grips thinking they looked close enough, but now that I got them, they aren’t as similar as I thought. It’s a really stupid situation that you can’t have a lock on grip on the left and a matching glue on for the right which enables you to use the nicer sealed bearing tubes. No, ODI doesn’t either.

The odi lock on grips are good but have a small range of free play. I’m going to check out the aluminum tubes to avoid that!
The Motion pro tube is not covered under the Warranty if you drill out the end to run full wrap around guards
I've been using pro taper lock on grips. But it seems ever time I drop my bike, even at a standstill, the tube either breaks and splits the entire length of the tube.

bought a new throttle cable for my 1977 yamaha IT250 and a new magura 314 assembly that I couldnt use because the original throttle is a top exit and the new magura is a side exit so the exposed cable was not long enough to use it, I ended up just re-using the original throttle, which works fine I just like the look of the side exit better

I have the Tusk standard aluminum throttle tube and can use it with full wrap guards. Ohh the wonders of a Dremel tool and cut off wheel
Try a cone stepped drill bit. I just drill out the end so the grip width stays full width.

Thanks for the videos but what are some good soft compound half waffle grips.
The ODI V2 half waffle MX lock-on grips are hard to beat! The grey and white colors are the softer compound.
I bought Chases favourite lock on Torc grips for my YZ 250 2stroke throttle side has slop play up and down and side to side (due to cam adpt)
Clutch side ya had to wack the shit out of it to get it on
Love the lock on grip idea but if your bars have Knurling on the end you will have to hammer the crap out the left grip to go on..... Just something I think people should be aware of. Nobody told me that when I bought my lock on grips. Great vid though RMATVMC!
I've had some bars with knurling on them and no issues with the grip going on but to your point, Pro Taper bars can be a nightmare. - Chase

If installing ODI lock-on onto Protaper bars, you will have to sand/file the knurling down a little. It doesn't take much. Do not force on with a hammer.
You guys didn’t mention the pro taper aluminum throttle tube which I know is different with the way it works, your guys thoughts on that ?
I looked and it doesn't look like we carry the Pro Taper aluminum throttle tube. We'll have to check it out!
Pillow top grips find themselves on my 2019 yz450f, odi or protaper.
I tried some pillow top grips and I actually found the numbed the front end feeling to much. Idk if its just me but I like a thin grip like a lock on one so I can feel exactly what the front end is doing
I use full wrap around handguards with G2 Aluminum throttle tube. Works perfectly. Why won’t your work?
Most aluminum throttle tubes don't have removable end caps like the G2 so making them work with wrap around handguards would require modification. Glad you're liking the G2 though!
Tusk used to make a aluminum one that you could put your odi cam on . Did they discontinue it ?
Yes. The Tusk aluminum throttle tubes are now are bike specific and will come with the correct cam for your machine.
does it matter what throttle tube u buy like will any fit any handle bar ?
All dirt bike throttle tubes will be the same 7/8" diameter but the throttle cam that the throttle cable attaches to will vary depending on bike model.

Rather have stock stuff on my bikes must of the time
well. i cant find anyone telling me this, so how do i know what will fit on? ive asked some of my friends who ride and they dont know, they just get lucky.
All throttle tubes are the same size for dirt bikes. You do have different throttle cams (where the throttle attaches) that will be different depending on the bike, but lock-on grips will come with a few different sizes to work with most bikes. If you enter your bikes year, make and model on our website you will see all the throttle tubes that fit that specific bike.

Its a zuum Px220 and i dont want a whole new kit, just new handle and plastic under.
You will need to see what design that manufacturer uses. A lot of them use the same parts as a Honda or Yamaha that you could order parts for that will work on your bike. Or you may have to get a throttle tube specific to that bike if they use their own design.
