We Completely Renovated and Old Pool Table

- We've had an old hand-me-down pool table in our basement for some time now. The slate is in great shape and the size was perfect for our space but it was in need of a serious overhaul. So we decided to give it a face lift and it turned out even better than we both could have imagined. In this tutorial I will detail how we took an old 7ft pool table and gave it a new modern look. From building new rails, to recovering and installing new legs and aprons. This table is exactly what we wanted and saved us thousands compared to buying a new one. #pooltable #billard #diy #diyprojects

Very nice finish, and nice to see what you did to get there, as you sure put alot of work into this project.
That table looks awesome - also love seeing you use normal tools and producing great results. Jealous of all the helpers you have lined up!
Thank you!
Came out great! Unique project.
Thank you!
awesome project. of all the cool ones you have done, this one is my favorite.
Thanks!! Honestly I think it might be mine too
Great job on applying the felt to the top and bumpers. My only question is how do you level the table?
Great work on that pool table guys! The only thing that I would have done differently is to round off all of the corners of the table. Now lets shoot some pool! 👍👍
Thank you! Definetly personal preference. I'm sure that would look great too
I 45ed mine, when I got moving around the table quickly, I would hit my hip on the point...
I have the exact table left behind in our house and I want to do this project as well but this intimidates the hell out of me
I hate to be the bad guy here but those new legs will get in the way of where you need to stand for some corner shots. Look at the original design. Nothing to block your footing. Looks nice. Just not as playable.
I was thinking the same thing, beautiful table, just wear shoes when your playing
All table should have the legs set in an have a way to level….
Looks great!
Thanks!
Looks great, So what is the technique for measure ring the Diamonds/ markers in rails pls ? many tables don't have them including mine I'd like to add them on mine.
Hi I have an 8ft pool table that I plan to redo the rails and I love your set I was just wonderwondering if you if it would be possible if you would make me a frame for the rails and how much would it be and shipping?
Building something with your wife has to be like a good dream. You just don't want it to end. I would love for my wife to show an interest in my woodworking.
Nice table. I like how you used the old table to measure out the new. The only thing I would consider is adding more support beams running under the table for the slate. Which would help keep the slate from warping. With more of a frame you can then add shims to support the slate and help level the slate.
Was is slate?
I like the idea of upcycling, what did you use for the “cushions” you said you couldn’t re use in the corners or where the holes are, you never said exactly what those replacement black pieces were. Is it foam, plastic, rubber?! And, for any project using red oak, after bleaching the red oak with the lye mixture did you sand once dry before applying wipe on poly and is it possible to use rubio monocoat instead of poly?!
Could you hypothetically keep the old top and build new legs? Mine has the bulkiness of your original, but I want to be able to push chairs underneath it!
Great work! I'd move those chunky legs inwards though, you're going to be bumping your legs and feet into them a lot during play.
Thank you! It doesn’t seem to be a problem this far. Basically built like a dining table.
Some toes will be stubbed... lol I know first hand.

Amazing project, can you tell me the size of the pocket holes you made?
fantastic work! I feel like you just made a completely new table lol. what was reused from the last one?
was the 2x6 actually 2x6 or was it 1.5x5.5? Thank you!
Any chance you can create written plans for this?
Is this table smaller than usual?
How do u know if it’s level?
How did you level this after you finished?
I leveled the table before installing the legs. But some levelers on the bottom of the legs would be good for future moves of the table
How much would that table cost
That’s awesome Rodger. I would not have the #@,,s to take the old one appart
😂 That’s why it took me so long to tackle this one!
2 years into a pool table makeover of my own.
Did you made it
🎵 Coat the wood with hydrogen peroxide 🎵 Apply the lye 🎵 Let it Dry 🎵
Haha🤣🤣
The result looks like a cheap livingroom ordinary table.
I will play you 3 games of 9-Ball and winner gets the pool table. 😆
😂 and what do I get if I win?
@@rogueengineer You get to keep the awesome pool table you built. lol😀
Anyone else see the thumbnail and think id rather have the "before" table???
