  • It’s time for another #competition and in celebration of the centenary of Sir Nigel Gresley's first Pacific locomotive, @officialhornby have teamed up with @neville.grove , @lner_steam , @bluffers_to_buffers and @flyingscotsdan to bring you a weekend jam packed with Gresley goodness!
This competition is a double bill as 2 fine models, that have been weathered by @neville.grove are up for grabs.
Competition 1: over this long weekend we invite you all to get involved by sharing pictures of your Gresley models on Instagram. If you use the hashtag #GoGrabAGresley, you could WIN the eye-catching A3 Pacific no. 45 ‘Lemberg’ in its Wartime Black livery with medium - heavy weathering.
Competition 2: to win unique A1 Pacific 4470 "Great Northern", that has been specially renamed and renumbered by Neville Grove to mark its centenery from brand new ‘Knight of the Thistle , you will need to look out for a post on @officialhornby’s Instagram account on Friday 8TH July 2022. All details for entry will be included in the caption.
The competitions close 11:59(BST) on 10/07/2022
“Humorist”, the LNER black “Isinglass” and “St Simon” appear courtesy of Simon A. C. Martin who had sent them for custom weathering.
BR Blue “Prince Palatine” is a striking visitor from Dan Back, whilst A4’s Mallard and Sir Walter K Wigham were sent by Chris of “The_OO_Gauge_Modeller” fame on Instagram.
Archive sounds in this video have been supplemented by some superb recordings made by ‪@nige7577‬ (60103) and ‪@MrTBrearley‬ (4498). Used with kind permission - many thanks lads.
Tim also sent his beautiful “Silver Fox” for weathering along with its matching coach rake for an exotic appearance towards the end of the video.
From Hornby, Ash, Steve, Dan and Ben... have a great #GoGrabAGresley Weekend and we wish you all the very best of luck!

Absolutely fabulous work. Lovely seeing a few of my own models get a nice run out. I had no idea that they could look so good running! The weathering is lovely and will email you later regarding it. Best wishes simon

A superb video as always, love the close up shots following the locos along the track. LNER liveries are by far the best IMO. All the extra details on the locos, like the flickering firebox, real coal, and lamps make a big difference, Cheers, John.

Always masterfully filmed and edited with alternating large and close shots, fluid long panoramic and traveling views. As for the quality of the layout, between the beautifully weathered locomotives and rolling stock, the tracks, buildings, scenery and backdrop, it's sometimes difficult to believe all this is in 00 and not 0 scale!

It's not a cheap hobby for sure, but this layout was built on a shoestring so you could do the same! The steel arched and girder bridges were built using offcuts of plywood, kebab sticks, cardboard from cereal packets and some scrap MDF. Just cost me £2 for the paint! Only 2 of these locos are actually mine - the rest had just been through my weathering studio.
