Norway's Northern LIE!

  • From Winter Vanlife to a Snowshoe trek in the Arctic winter to the true northernmost point of Norway and Continental Europe, Knivskjelodden. While Nordkapp is often wrongly advertised as the northernmost point, it's fake. it is actually the most accessible by road. Knivskjelodden lies 1,450 meters further north and can be reached via a relatively easy 17 km round-trip hike, even in winter. Enjoying a trek on my winter van life trip on the Nordics.

    Side note.. I’m almost ready to buy my big battery.. are Roamer genuinely worth the extra over Fogstar?
    I’m looking at a 12v 460.. with a multi-plus 2 3kva 120 230v.. 750w solar with 100/50 mppt and new xs50 dcdc
    Cerbo too.. how you finding the new black and blue gui? I really don’t like the old multi coloured box version looks like windows 98!lol

      @MispronouncedAdventures  3 місяці тому +1

      I did actually record that entire section About all the kit I use and it didn’t make it into the video although it might make it into the week.
      Roamer is definitely worth the extra over Fogstar, but for many people it comes down to just a budget. Roamer are heavily engineered and design product in the UK by us, superior and custom designed internally construction and components, and a lot more but it gets difficult for many people to see the difference when they only see battery boxes and prices
      Book in a Roamer design consultation and ask for me. All work through your system path and electrical system designs and draw your entire schematic and then we supply all the components.

Cool to have done though! edit: Oh scratch that, I need a coffee. haha I'm currently sick and being treated, but if I get through this, I definitely gonna do some storm-camping, always wanted to do that. • @MispronouncedAdventures
      @MispronouncedAdventures  3 місяці тому +1

      In the case of Snow bridges, the fact that has been stepped on before isn’t necessarily a good indicator. following footsteps and thinking it’s okay is a classic great holistic trap. Snow is a very dynamic thing. The fact that it was stable a few days ago doesn’t even it is now.
      Having worked the outdoors guiding people in winter environment for a long time it was a calculator view that it would be fine. I could see cross-section of the thickness.

    Are North Cape and Knivskjelodden really a part of mainland Europe? They are on the island of Magerøya not on the mainland. Kinnarodden, Cape Nordkinn in English, is on the mainland and is the most northern part of Norway that is not on a island, it is around 6km south of Knivskjelodden.
    If islands are allowed to be included why is Svalbard excluded? Franz Josef Land is even further north but then the question is where does Europe ended and Asia begin.
    Cape Nordkinn is a 24 km hike one one, perhaps a goal for next winter?

    • @MispronouncedAdventures
      @MispronouncedAdventures  3 місяці тому

      I get the point you are saying. I do you Continental and mainland interchangeably during the video, which could be seen as different things as you quite rightly point out they are on an island.
      Although I do include Svalbard Archipelago as further north In “Europe”, which is why I specifically mentioned that knivskjelodden is the most northern part of continental/mainland and not in general Europe as it’s not.

    • @MispronouncedAdventures
      @MispronouncedAdventures  3 місяці тому

      From my technical point of view, I am unsure when a island is no longer classes “mainland” unsure if the channel has to be a certain depth or width or a different geological structure
      Although I do use “Continental” more in the video, as the island of Magerøya is still considered continental Europe, whilst the Svalbard a archipelago is not
