If you press right shift + the key to move forward in the cabin, you’ll move faster.
For the throttle config, in the throttle setup in the settings, you can choose « FADEC + reverse » and it should be accurate for the a330

I am a huge fan of Airbus! They make planes with high passenger comfort, they make interesting looking planes as the Beluga. I am especially impressed by the sheer size of the A380. That's my favourite plane but the A330 is not less interesting!

My point is that I want to share my opinion ... of course I know some facts about the Boeing 747 which is a beautiful plane ... I know a few facts about many aircrafts but I am not an expert and I don't want to be treated like the world depends on my opinion ... I just like the planes and I have my favourite just like other people have ... what is the point in that question?

Hehe, as a frequent flyer I can confirm the business class is pretty much spot on. Even the new design of the Lufthansa pillow is taken into account. Tilt of the seats is accurate, in the window block both seats are pointing outwards, while in the center block the seats are pointing towards each other.
Really hoping for this one to get some sort of Zibo treatment. Xworks already modded the 339,333F,332F and 332....it would be lovely to get them in Zibo quality.
Or Toliss could make some sort of Reality Expansion Pack like other default planes got ;-)
Not an airliner pilot in the sim (just a GA one IRL and virtually as well).. but I really enjoyed hearing your feebacks about what is OK and what is missing/ inaccurate in their plane, following the exact procedures. Would be nice from you to share this video or upload it in the X-Plane forum in order Laminar Research developers to look at it and hear from your constructive points. I could also post it if you agree in case you have other things to do.
Its fantastic witnessing a new airplane test with your expertise of a fresh typerating.
A quick FYI, if you plan on using X-Plane it would be a good idea to set a joystick setting for the aircraft and once you make a config for each aircraft it will load in automatically when you select that aircraft. It's pretty nice and once you set it up you can forget about it. I have one for the Zibo, Toliss and the A330.
This is the one feature I have been waiting for in MSFS for years. Fed up of forgetting to switch configs between 737/787, A320 and 747

I'm glad it wasn't just me. I tried to fly this aircraft today, everything went well and when I started using the autopilot, I realized it's completely broken and does not work as it should. It's a pity because the 3d model, interior and cockpit are so well done.

I knew this man wasn't messing around when he used the ignition switch to check the oil temp - in an AIRBUS.
also checking the oil quantity which should be above 15qt in the trent700
1 - Since almost 90% of the switches in cockpit are clickable, I believe the aircraft systems will be updated over time such as functions like ADIRS etc.
2 - Sun shades also do work in the aircraft
3 - There is a cold&dark state mod on the org forums
4 - I'm using official bug report website of simulator to provide a feedback about the aircraft
I hope someone like Zibo comes and takes this baby to higher levels

The external power light remains up as far as I know on the 330 till engine start(+ inital roll) or engine shutdown. So you can just disrecard that external power light when you dont need it anymore
I just discovered your channel and I love your videos. I absolutely love that a real type-rated pilot is flying these models and comparing them meticulously to the real thing, I absolutely love that insight. I’m currently a post-CSEL coming out after a long hiatus (mostly due to COVID) hoping to climb the ladder again until I get similarly to where you are. I used XP-11 to meticulously train for my IFR procedures and passed the IRA checkride the 1st time. Everything was spot on in the C172 model and my timing on holds, approaches, etc all turned out exactly the way they were in real life. I bit the bullet this time and got better system specs (I just bought a semi-decent gaming laptop from Costco at the time and returned it after 3 months after I passed the checkride 😂😂) and hoping to start using XP-12 now to supplement the rest of my training. Thanks for your videos!
Hoping all the bests for your career! It’s indeed incredible how far our sims have come. When you end up going into the type rating later on I can really recommend to get an appropriate plane like the ToLiss Airbusses and use them for familiarization as well. Not everything will be 100% spot on (it’s still a consumer sim after all), but you will be light years ahead of your colleagues with the knowledge you will gain!
The sign on taxi was in all caps, so it actually said "HAVE A SAFE FIGHT"! Guess you have to fight your way to the end of the active! :(

I’m contemplating on buying XP12 full version. My money and time has been spent on MSFS however flying XP12 feels just right.. feels good. Especially the scaling. Everything in MSFS feels large but doesn’t look large. Xplane scales just right to see the true size of the planes and feel them. I don’t like the idea of all this magic addon stuff though. It’s like prehistoric coding for addons. And you need a good amount from my understanding like autoortho to match the scenery.
Also I think X plane looks really good at night time
Glad you flew this plane🙂 even though you broke my bubble and have exposed so many flaws in the plane I did not know about, lol. For some reason I do enjoy flying this plane, there is something fun about it, I think it's because it's an A330 and also I love the engine sounds. But oh well...we need someone like Zibo to mod this plane to the next level. Till then we just have to wait for the Aerosoft 330.

There is another freeware aircraft worth checking out in X plane and it's the Sparky 747-400. This plane doesn't get mentioned enough, would be curious on your thoughts about it.

Thank you for sharing. The default A330 in X-plane 12 has some details like when you switch on the APU, you can see the APU door open when switching to the external view (LShift+6 by default), and then hear the sound of APU start. The FMC implementation for A330 here is very simple and unrealistic. But by now this is so far still the most platform for me to fly A330 rather than using MSFS 2020 fly the Headwind A330 because I just do concern for the cockpit that Headwind is still using the A320 cockpit for it. Anyway, thank you for the great video. And I don't know why, when flying the X-plane, from the external view I can feel I'm really flying a piece of metal however, in MSFS 2020, I feel more like flying a plastic toy...🤣
If you startup the aircraft only in batteries the static inverter comes on? It happens on a330' and a340's, if it simulates, they are very good aircrafts
Well, at least we can compare the landing here to flightdeck2sim default 787 MSFS landing and can say the landing and runway rollout is more realistic here! Let’s hope that both sims make some good advances in then next months.

touched almost flat, quite contradictory for the a330 which usually stays nose up at 5 degrees for about ten seconds...
yep, you should have like 3.5° Nose Up on final and then flare another 2°.
I was impressed about how absolute beautiful this aircraft looks like! Turbines like no others with 3D-modelled inlet guide vanes of the engine core compressor, lovely N1 fan, superb 3D modeled and spinning low pressure turbine in the core, beautyful stuff going on there. I absolutely hope Fenix will bring this level of detail to their new IAE engine nacelles. The cockpit of the A330 was also a positive surprise: Absolute great looking, beautyful, just the fire extinguisher has some ugly blurry texture that does not fit to the rest of the overall looking marvelous cockpit.
I hope that a team like FlyByWire (MSFS) or Zibo will take care of this airplane and mod it to absolute perfection, I would buy X-Plane 12 only to sometimes fly this plane :)
Especially interesting: These bigger sized Rolls-Royce engines (that look exactly like bigger IAE´s) also have an N3 readout on the ECAM, a three shaft turbine. Very rare. I have only ever seen such in an A330 and A340.

On a side note in RL if you come into cockpit and find switches in wrong places from last crew what do you ? Ignore, record, tell on them 😂
I'd question the reason why the switch is in the position it's in, if applicable check the techlog or talk to maintenance.
If it's a typical flight crew error like a switch that's easily forgotten I'd just flick it back, after checking.
But if it's something non normal like the pressurization mode selector in MAN in the 737 or a Gear Lever UP in any plane I'd absolutely talk to maintenance.
It might be a leftover from earlier maintenance action before I took the plane. But if that's been forgotten what else might possibly have been forgotten, especially if your gear lever is UP. Better safe than sorry.
Terrific plane and nice job ! Are the PFD and MFD screens suppose to POP OUT ?? I cant , seems a draw back. Also I dont see a way to Import SimBrief Fplan. I seem to recall that has to be available on the MCDU ? and no Fly pad ?? somethings to look forward to i suppose.

thanks this had made my decision to uninstall msfs2020 and install xplane12... so many limitations in msfs especially the mcdu stuff
Well, there's likewise many limitations in XP12. It really comes down to what you want to do with the sim. For day to day A to B flying like most simmers do I actually believe MSFS to be the better sim.
A330 driver will you end up trying the zibo like mod for the a330 (aerogenisis a330)

Tried to fly this plane the other day. On the ground whenever the Flight Plan and Weights got put for some reason the plane entered the descent phase in the PERF menu. Must have been something about the specific flight plan that confused it? Who knows.

Very interesting review! Since MSFS was out, I stopped using XP11 and got XP12 just to have it in case some surprise update makes it more immersive but I doubt. As a fan of Airbus and A330, I was curious to have real pilot opinions on this one, so thanks for the review. I was precisely curious considering the declaration of superiority of XP flight model vs MSFS by the dedicated XP fans. Interesting to hear that this one lacks the real life inertia. And I am curious to know why the flight model of XP with what it is being told about not replicate inertia considering that the creator of XP was promoting the A330 and I felt it was being well cooked in terms of flight model. Your professional reviews of XP vs MSFS will make things more relative , hopefully reduce the hype around XP "all the time flight model superiority" and bring more fair judgement on the topic of the flight model in general.
Default A330 for X-Plane is not using custom values for radii of gyration, i.e. the inertia is not provided by the aircraft designer, but it is guesstimated internally by X-Plane itself. With that premise, I'd say it's not doing a terrible job.
Things can be improved by opening the aircraft in Plane-Maker and inputting custom radii of gyration. I think that data is not public, but can be estimated using technical references of other aircraft of similar class. Or can be fine tuned by a real pilot doing virtual test flights.
That being said, I think it's clear that there's no hype about X-Plane flight model vs the competition. Don't forget that also other aspects like ground physics are better in X-Plane.

2 nd gen simmer thinking about x plane will I be disappointed compared to msfs which is almost un flyable ? 3060 rtx with 32 gigs ram 3.9 gig processor not overclocked ?
Is it essential in an airbus to turn packs off prior to takeoff? I was of the understanding that this was not required in newer variants.
In neos you need to do it too, the engines are developed to have a takeoff without packs
It’s not essential. In covid packs were on. Passengers didn’t like the aircon going off. Packs off allows a higher derated takeoff. Saves on engine maintenance costs. Or if need toga gives more power to thrusts.

However I'm rather sure the developers have decided on purpose on the scope that their A330 covers and not just because they didn't know any better, which makes it rather unlikely they are going to include all those tipps.

Criticism isn't 'slamming'. If it doesn't fly right, it doesn't fly right. The x-plane fanboys are always defending x-plane it like it's the best 'flight dynamics' simulator on the market. It isn't. It's the same as the rest and only as good as the planes that are available for the sim.
@@ehss192 The experience comes from the add-on, not the actual simulator platform. I remember the Captain Sim 757 add-on for Flight Simulator and it was absolutely amazing.

@@ehss192 I was replying to the original post, read yours and yes I agree. There are a lot of developers who make add-ons for Flight Simulators but often they excel in one area and neglect the other. I know of payware add-ons that had study level aircraft with every procedure and cockpit modeled to near perfection but once glass at the external 3d model and you would vomit. There is a balance that we all look for. I for example love X-Plane 12 not because it's the best simulator but because it has a very user friendly and straight forward interface. I can setup my own views easily and I can really immerse myself and enjoy the experience. With Flight Simulator 2020, don't get me started with views ... I think Flight Simulator is great when I want to take a small jet or prop aircraft and go flying low to admire the beautiful scenery. FS2020 wins in graphics hands down but where FS2020 starts to decline is in the user interface and overall mechanics of how you control the simulation experience.
