    I highly recommend Ryan's book - it got my wife interested in watching Ryan's videos with me. The book is beautiful and informative.

    Juan Brown says the same thing when he talks about the best safety device being your credit card and the willingness to use it.

    "Get there, itis." Can always lead to trouble. Great advice to wait to fly on the next day with better weather. Especially in PNG. It's good to know also that the raft has an overhead shade for sun protection if needed. Yawan is an incredible place. Thanks for the ride along today, Ryan.

    Great advice, Ryan. Yes, takeoff's are optional. Beautiful scenery there in PNG. That waterfall was absolutely amazing! The approach path to some of those airfields... wow! You have nerves of steel! Great video! Love those time lapses at the end.🙂

    This is such a good video explaining something I've always subconsciously thought about in my head. Some days are more challenging to fly than others, and I sometimes find myself thinking, "The winds are strong but I've done it before, oh the weather is moving in but I'll have time to get back." And yeah, I'd be able to handle it, but is there really a good enough reason to? There almost never is, especially if you don't absolutely have to make a flight. So just wait for the next day like you said. This is especially true in general aviation/leisurely flying.

    Nice video from 18000Ft. we don't get to see the landscape from this altitude very often. Great Video.

    I have delayed hours or days due to weather. It is worth staying safe and alive rather than let get there itis take over and potentially get hurt or worse. Ive seen bad outcomes first hand and it could have easily been prevented.
    On another note my coffee table album is one of the most liked aviation items in my living room when I have guests over. It is one of the nicest books I have ever had.

    Another great and exciting flight to a remote airstrip. Sad to hear about the crash. Last few weeks haven't been good for aviation here in the US with several accidents. Ryan, Please fly safe.

    Aviators breathing oxygen has not moisture in it, so that the moisture will not freeze. There is hosiptal oxygen that has some water in it. But its not made for aircraft. The other option is to add an STC that adds moisture.

    Your attitude to safety will as you say get you to fly another day, to many push and it ends up in disaster, and then it's the ones that are left behind that pay the heavy toll.

    Ryan, I think (If I remember correctly) this is the second time you have mentioned that crash. Did you know some of those people aboard that plane? The crash has made a big impression on you. Your lessons you give us I greatly appreciate.
    The primary mission of the Civil Air Patrol (CAP) squadron I was in was aircraft search and rescue. We had a wall full of "momentos" from the crashes we had worked over the years. Finding a crashed aircraft is totally not fun. I want the number of your take-offs and landings to always equal. 🙂

    Unrelated comment: when I fly the Kodiak in FS2020, it stalls at 66-68 knots, give or take a little, with full flaps. I’m dead at your landing speeds…

    • @chucksadler4029
      @chucksadler4029 13 годин тому +1

      Yes. The kodiak in MSFS is way off from its real counterpart. With full flaps, you better add a bunch of power or you’re going down. Nothing close to Ryan’s approaches.

    It sounds like Port Moresby is using a Single Sideband radio. Is that true? Are they on HF (High Frequency) or VHF? If HF, what frequency range do they use? I love these videos of exotic places that I will never get to fly.

  • @richardharris7214
    @richardharris7214 12 годин тому

    Wow! an especially spectacular airstrip - 'peach' of a landing as usual! Question for you, please. How much time do you spend on looking for places to put down if the engine quits? Maybe not much because there isn't anywhere! Would you take a tree canopy over a river, say? Do you do much practicing for such an eventuality? Thanks.

    • @MissionaryBushPilot
      @MissionaryBushPilot  7 годин тому

      I spend zero time looking for places. There are a lot of places I can crash land, but land good...not so much

  • @Tadrjbs

    The two biggest wastes in aviation are the fuel you leave behind and the runway behind you you dont use. General rule: The prop is nothing more than a fan to keep the pilot cool. If you need proof make it fail in flight and watch him sweat!!!❤❤❤
