Thanks !!! I appreciate everyone’s comments.... I’m learning slowly 💓💓and yes I hadn’t realised I was regarding to jinjer as her 🙈. The band I did mean
Jinjer's influences are so diverse it's impossible to count them all. It is a witches' brew (like the original video) of Death Metal, Jazz, Soul, Ska, Reggae. But she's channelled No Doubt-era Gwen Stefani here on the chorus.
Its so Insane because again I just seen her open for Breaking Benjamin and Disturbed 3 weeks ago but the more videos I watch you do of hers I realize how much of a in shock and awe and in love daze of confusion I really was in!!! I watch it come out of her throught here and I watched and heard it come out of her throught on stage live and it still seems impossible, its insane but still im in love lol!!!
While Tatiana is in a league of her own, there are other good singers that have a similar vocal style, such as Courtney from Spirit Box, a very talented woman in her own right, but doesn't quite have the insane range that Tati does. But that is okay because no one should be expected to.
Also, Courtney is just a very different person than Tatiana is and that comes through in her songs as well as her vocal style, which is great. I don't want a music industry full of Tatina clones. I feel the same about Lena from Infected Rain, Alissa and Angela from Arch Enemy, a less experienced singer and growler Melissa Bonny from Ad Infinitum and Rage For Light, and (further afield stylistically) Maria Brink from In This Moment. That said, yeah Tatiana is just mindblowingly powerful on every level, and it is impressive how much influence she and Jinjer are already having on new artists.
And she grows deeper than I think I've ever heard her, in home back... about three-quarters into the song... completely badass! ua-cam.com/video/W1F-rWCDhqU/v-deo.html 3:15
Lanny Newton yes she does. I wish people would listen to these songs and not the ones everyone does. Retrospection is another really good one, bass is insane and the message is cool.
@@aenimaexists5706 I mean it isnt horrible, but yeah I agree. Once you listen to someone as brilliant as Tatiana along with the amazing band behind her it kind of sets the bar waaay too high for other female led metal bands IMO.
Your reactions are the BEST!! Not on the same level as Jinjer, but check out Ankor if you haven’t already. They initially hooked me with their song/video, Lost Soul.
May I please suggest...Sit Stay Roll Over...Scissors and Cloud Factory (Official Live Video) ... no one ever seems to suggest them...and pause whenever you want to!!!
You do understand JINJER is a band that works together. They are ALL AMAZING SONG WRITERS! LIKE NO DOUBT , Pat Benatar, etc... No one knows the band, just the girl singing. Tatiana and the band are wonderful talents. Last year they were supported on tour in the Pacific North West by a band called Vintersea. You should give them a go. Try ‘Befallen’ but hold onto your hat!
id love to see tatiana sing a snippet of every vocal style and music genre out there (if thats possible, there are so many), because shed rock them all
I'm a country bumpkin not scared that listens to metal most my life bit i also listen to country, rap, classical, orchestra ect.. the weird fuggin dude that listens to most everything except kids music.
@@7470alexander me too lol. people think cause I'm a hick ill pull out a cross and pray when i see this. although i do believe ive been listening to metal since my dad got me hooked on quiet riot and it just spiraled from there. love rap too my best friend is straight up legit gangster
She's said that Otep is her growl inspiration, and that she's had to practice it to get good, and that she didn't want to sound like a woman doing it. She wanted it to sound like a male growl.
For reggae metal, look up skindred, or thier earlier band, Dub War. Welsh reggae metal. Rat Race, Nobody, Pressure, or Kill the Power would be good places to start. For other women who sing like this, check out:- Spiritbox (rule of nines or Blessed Be are a good start) Iwrestledabearonce (you ain't no family, or you know that ain't them dogs real voices) The agonist (business suits and combat boots, thank you pain, or thier eulogies sang me to sleep) Eths (bulimiarexia, or crucifere. These are all in French as they are a French band)
There's lots of female led bands nowadays with a great mix of what we call clean singing and then alternative vocals, some recommendations with cool music vids; The In-Between - In This Moment Blessed Be - Spiritbox I'm So Sick - Flyleaf Holy Wolf - Ankor
Mixing genres is actually a really common thing in progressive metal. Keep going in the genre and you'll keep getting blown away if that's your thing! By the way, I second any and all Spiritbox reccos you get! ;)
They've definitely said the reggae riff was something Roman came up with, and that Tati wrote all of the lyrics from Macro. I could totally see Eugene coming up with a lot of it, but as sophisticated as the musical composition is, I'd be very surprised if Vlad didn't have a part in it. They've definitely shown more refined song structure since Vlad joined the band, thanks to his classical training and knowledge of music theory.
I love Jinjer, and Tatiana... But a few things... 1. Jinjer is a band, not a singer, and the genre mash up stuff is probably largely due to Roman, Eugene, and Vlad... Not to take anything away from Tati who is brilliant. 2. There are LOTS of bands doing what Jinjer does, making up genres and experimenting. Mr Bungle would hey a lot of credit here if you go way back, and with metal you could probably thank Opeth for nattering the whole clean/harsh dichotomy, but even among more recent bands there are a ton that are playing the crazy mashup game... Twelve Foot Ninja, Diablo Swing Orchestra, and Native Construct to name only a few. Again, not hating on Jinjer, I listen to them almost non stop, they are one of my favorite bands, just felt those 2 things needed to be pointed out.
Tatiana is huge into reggae, soul, etc. So while she wouldn't have written the parts, don't count her out for wanting reggae style stuff written for songs either and helping get it written. That said, yeah... she is just one spoke in the wheel like you said.
@@AtticsTV I just think that to many people give her all the credit, it happens with female fronted bands too often... She deserves a ton of credit, but let's not run the others if theirs as well... Every member of their current lineup is world class
@@TysonGiffordME I definitely agree. I am usually the biggest proponent making sure the band is recognized, because its all 4 that makes it what it is. I just also want to make sure Tati still gets her due though when it comes, and lots of the soul/reggae vibe stuff is from her influence.
To start I was just at your live and drinking shots so when this came on blurry it scared me.I paused the video. When I hit play you said "I pause". I immediately thought of Donovan, and peed my pants. Thank you! spent the next ten minutes, after changing my shorts, spell and grammar checking. I go through a lot to be in your family. I don't even like Jinjer that much.
Bulimiarexia from ETHS, she can do it from a time before Jinjer but they sing in French maybe that is the reason because they weren't famous like Jinjer
ok with the scary music (and knowing shes a tad....unhinged) when she put the cat to the lips i was half expecting her to eat the cat. amazing voice when shes not screaming
haha, the first dozen or so times when I saw Pisces I felt like she was gnawing the microphone apart, and it seemed slightly strange that the mic was still in one piece at the end of the video. :)
Seems like listening to Jinjer makes Half Pint kinda aggressive, Lucky. If you haven't already you need to play their music in the bedroom, if you catch my drift. 😎
I'm not really into this kind of music, but still enjoy your reactions! When you get back to country could you look into The Box by Randy Travis! Saw you really enjoy Josh Turner voice so you'll like Randy too plus the song means a lot to me!

She is THE queen. Nuff said!
Reggae metal is an actual thing. Skindred is probably the biggest name in it.
Skindred is bad ass
Absolutely! Their song "Nobody" is still a classic
They were my first taste. Roots, Rock, Riot still gets me pumped as fuck.
just saw this after commenting the same thing lol
Seen skindred live, awesome band!

You're not wrong: Metal Goddesses Awards - The Best Vocalist of 2018: Tatiana Shmayluk
It is almost like having three people singing from one body. She is always so amazing.
Random person: You can't mix reggae and metal that won't work.
Tatiana: Hold my cat...
Yes, Tatiana is a Queen!
Twelve Foot Ninja, who Jinjer are fans of (and friends with), combine all sorts of genres. “Coming for You” and “One Hand Killing” are good examples.
Jinjer's influences are so diverse it's impossible to count them all. It is a witches' brew (like the original video) of Death Metal, Jazz, Soul, Ska, Reggae. But she's channelled No Doubt-era Gwen Stefani here on the chorus.
